good morning....

happy vacation to me...but there is so much to do around here... I think I will start by cleaning up my sewing room...or maybe I will skip the cleaning and just play.

Cindy, because of your king chicken talk we had Mexican chicken last night.. lots of the same ingreedients but add taco sauce and water chestnuts..I think it may just be breakfast this morning...

Karlene, I love that you are blocking the exits till all see how beautiful Harley is...

Maryq... glad you had the roommate talk. sorry the kids won't be there for dinner... but breakfast is good too... I like to make breakfast burritos, all the breakfast stuff plus cheese and salsa in a tortilla, they can be made ahead and warmed in the oven...

Izzy, we are all confusing at one time or another.

Sharona, tell DH if he's going to try to kill you with a nail gun he needs to aim a little higher.. gosh, could you imagine what the police report in the ER could have been...lol

Jana, I am cracking up at thinking of Ethan sitting in a FP little chair.. such a nut...glad the Cali son is heading your way.. maybe he will decide to stay?

Chickie.. don't you think the package deliverers could figure out a route.. I know there are computer programs that could help them do this... I have seen packages go past my house 3 or more times before they take the right highway.. ugh.

Tina, prayers to you my friend.. hugs too.

Scrappy Pat.. when do we get the results... prayers and hugs to you too.

Karlene, I love a Ruben sandwich, but I am the only one here who likes saurkraut..so I don't get one often... I saw a sign once... a grumpy German makes a sour Kraut...funny huh, even with my bad spelling?

Velda, thanks for waking me up...

Lois, I have seen those edible boquets.. let me know what you think of it.

Dolores, I love Gotchies...hope you feel better.

ShirleyMae, glad you're loving your new place....

Suzette, gotta know, what's included in your baking marathon?

Maryz.. what a blast you are having.. it's so cool to be you...

we have to go to a Christmas party tonight.. it will likely be fun but I am a person who would rather stay home. Jerry is a volunteer fireman and there will be a doin's at the firehouse.. the firemen have a white elephant exchange and then there will be food... Jerry is making chili.. I have to say he finally found a chili recipe I like. there will be bbq tri tip and chicken and not sure what else. I am going to go to Costco and get a cake in a bit...

so I need to shower and get dressed, you all have a groovy day.

Good Cloudy Morning......HAPPY WINTER!!!!!

I finished baking cookies & spiced nuts. Today it's uglies & this place is looking very bad. After that I'll make chocolate filling and make up sandwich cookies. Something my family want every year.

Remember Petula Clark? She just cut a new album. I hear her being interviewed on the radio. She still sounds the same.

Maryq.... I'm so sorry to hear you lost your Aunt. It sounds like she is in very good company.

Velda....congrats in opening today! Your day sounds wonderful just what I plan to do tomorrow.

Tess.....I love mystery quilts. I wish one of my quilt magazines would would run one. Your day is packed...hope you get it all done.

Lois....what a wonderful treat! Their things are always so yummy.

Dolores....Gotchie boxes are a new one for me. But I can see how they got their funny name. I hope you don't get sick, it ca sure cut in to your time.

Shirley Mae....So good to hear from you! You sound good even if you are still unsettled. I am so happy you are loving your new place. Like me it comes with lots of snow. It sure helps that there was a pot luck dinner. Good timing. If we could we all would come for tea & peanut butter cookies. My sister is doing a cookie exchange at work. I'm still having trouble finding things especially baking.

Suzette....I wish I could help you with your baking. I have time but run out of people to give it to. Sorry about those calcifications. Your right see what your Dr's say.

Becca....Good for you you're all ready. Happy cookie baking!

Judi....sounds like a wonderful sister day. My sister doesn't sew at all but is more that willing to come to quilt shops with me. Hallmark in a good store for a quick gift.

Izzy....you day is full...will you get all that done? Happ for you with 2 weeks off.

Maryz.....you have a full day too! Enjoy!

Chriss....Happy Vacation!!! I just know you will have a good time tonight.

Live & Prayers to all in need......Kathy

Good morning from the icy plains… I was very careful when I walked out to toss bird seed to the little feathered beggars. DH had to scrape ice before he could go to coffee, but like the mail goes through, the geezers have to go to coffee…

My traveling pants are back to this area and now in Parsons. I’m hoping they will come to me. They were shipped UPS, and the last ones changed in Kansas City to the USPS and came down to my post office box. These may be delivered by the brown trucks. I’m hoping to get them Monday. I am wearing my other pair today.

We have DH’s late wife’s family dinner at noon at the community center. I’m hoping it won’t be cancelled, or I will have lots of Swedish meatballs and a cheese ball… My friend didn’t stay here last night, so we won’t be meeting for coffee. I will have to give her gift to her next week—beginning quilting supplies… My sister returned yesterday and will see Mom today. I won’t have to go in to town… The roads will probably be salted by afternoon, but I’m sure her street will be slick.

Pat—I’m hoping you feel better today. I’m also hoping and praying that your biopsy will come back benign. Stay in and stay warm and rest!

Dolores—love the name gotchies boxes! We used to get those for Christmas but didn’t have a fun name.

Tess—this is our first of several dinners, too.

Lois—I love fresh fruit, too. What a sweet DH!

Shirley Mae—hope your power doesn’t go out! So good to hear from you again. Stay in and stay safe. The storm must be coming from the south, as it is here. Sounds like you have found a delightful place to hang your hats!

Suzette—have fun baking! Good that you are getting everything checked out.

Becca—all this cookie baking has me salivating. Have a great day!

Judi—sounds like you had a fun day yesterday. You must be warmer than we are to have mud. I guess with the ice, the dogs won’t be tracking mud in here…

Izzy—my truck is under a tree. Now I’m worried about icy branches falling on it… always something. It sure runs nicely now that I’ve spent a bundle on it—Merry Christmas, Little Red Truck! What a list… we will call you Bizzy Izzy!

MaryZ—have a delightful day today… lots of memories at the family graves. Hope there are some fun stories floating around. I have a feeling there will be poker tonight for the guys with the out of town people here.

Chriss—You have a groovy day! We have the white elephant gift today, too. We’ll have Ruben sandwiches together! I keep a jar of kraut in the fridge and put it on lots of stuff… just me as DH can’t stand it.

Kathy—I want to make some spiced nuts and some sugared nuts. Maybe I can find time for that tomorrow… I used to have Petula Clark’s album from ages ago.

Velda—welcome to the “Start”! I need a lazy day—enjoy yours for me!

Have a great day—warm and safe and surrounded by cotton!

Good morning all.

Just a quick pass through to say Howdy! I am on my way out the door to pick up DGS. It is wet and yucky out, but that is OK....he is my little ray of sunshine!

Shirley Mae, so good to hear from you. Glad you have found a new home and friendly faces.

Have a safe and happy weekend. I'll check back later today.

Hugs and prayers,
Mel

Good morning!

Velda - enjoy your lazy day!

Tess - sounds like you're going to be a whirling dervish today. Hope you find time to put your feet up and rest for a bit.

Lois - how sweet of your DH to get you a fruit arrangement. Enjoy.

Dolores - thanks for explaining what gotchie boxes are. I hope you get everything wrapped and that your cough goes away.

Shirley Mae - it's wonderful to see you! Your new place sounds delightful, plus you get a wildlife show. Hope your son gets your internet all squared away. Have fun unpacking.

Suzette - so glad they're not clumped, but dang it all anyway. Enjoy your baking marathon and I hope you get to sew a wee bit on the quilt.

Becca - sounds like you are ready for Christmas. Enjoy watching the ball games.

Judi - what a great day to spend with your sister. Especially since you were able to help her with the labels. Good luck with your errands today - I hope the stores aren't too awful.

Izzy - what a list! I bet your tree looks beautiful. Happy sewing to you.

Maryz - wordy glory - that made me smile. Enjoy your time with your precious family. I hope your Monopoly game doesn't bring out the Donald Trumps in your family like it does in mine!

Chriss - hope you enjoy the Christmas party. I would also rather stay home. I bet the white elephant gift exchange will be fun. You are so brave to go to Costco the last weekend before Christmas.

Kathy - too bad you have to clean - I'd rather cook than clean. Your sandwich cookies sound really good - maybe we should have a cookie recipe exchange.

Miriam - I'm sure glad you're careful when you go to feed the birds. Have they started coming to greet you yet? I love a Reuben also. DH loves sauerkraut, so we always have a huge bottle of it on hand. He puts it on his hot dogs also. I had mashed potatoes at a luncheon that included sauerkraut - I'm going to have to look that recipe up, because they were really good. I laughed at your geezer versus mail comparison.

Mel - have a great time with your DGS.

Tina and Scrappy Pat - you both are getting extra prayer time from me.

Not sure what today will bring. My aunt pulled her feeding tube out last night - they're taking that as a good sign. I guess I could do some uglies - blah. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Good afternoon from warm, rainy, SW. Pa...Yep, that's right, warm and getting warmer and then the bottom is supposed to drop out...But, Mother Nature is sure messing with the birds...We have had tweeting and chirping all morning and come Monday, will be singing another song.....

Well, my house is full, once again...Terry, the boys and 1 dog arrived about 1:00 this morning..His wife stayed home with the other dog (long story and her loss)...But, I am determined to make this a good holiday visit, no matter what....Nicky will be starting his cookie marathon as soon as they get back from the store...And then he will be doing our tree...Last summer when Nick went home, he was a little boy but this very tall, almost 6' young man with a deep voice came to visit....AND Kathy's girls are in town...And as they say on Duck Dynasty, Happy, Happy, Happy..............

Chriss, vacation, that sounds wonderful....I'm a lot like you with the partying, I'd rather stay home...Now ask me to go to lunch, that's a different story....Having Terry and the boys here, I'm sure there will be some different foods being cooked...They're into the hot stuff, as in chili, hot sausage etc. Terry even makes his coffee strong so I have a different pot for him to use....

Maryz, Just reading your post, we know you are enjoying yourself....And just in case you need bail money, we'll see what we can do....

Izzy, Your list has made me very tired..With all that you do, you'll need that 2 weeks to rest.....

Well, I have a feeling I'd better get lunch started...I also have a feeling I'll be making a few trips to Aldi's to restock the shelves....I had forgotten how much boys can eat.......

My best to all, prayers for those who are not up to par and going through some difficult times...As Vicky always says, Keep looking up!

You all have great day,
Dorothy
