Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Good morning! We are 13 degrees this morning. Hopefully we are warming to 40—Heat Wave!!! I’m so tired of winter, and according to the calendar it’s not here yet. Whatever am I going to do???
Carol—I would check e-Bay for similar machines and pricing. Do you know you can go to SingerCo.com and check the serial numbers for the date of manufacture. There are Singer treadle machines in estate sales here, but I don’t know what the sales prices are. The Amish buy them here since they don’t use electric appliances.
Suzette—glad you don’t have to start the treatment before Christmas.
Teresa—hope they get your meds adjusted so you feel great! You are a fireball with all you do—amazing!
Lois—I know your home smells delightful!
Redtop—I hear ya about the processing… “Drop everything you planned to do and help!” Good luck! I always have the Christmas Crushtime going as well.
Izzy and Sandy—I hate mice in the house and can’t rest until they are eliminated. Good luck in your pursuits!!!
MaryZ—your home is always buzzing—chain saws, log splitters, Q-bot, Bernie, mixer… whew!!! Can’t wait to see your koi wallhanging.
Chriss—I wear three or four layers so I can put on and take off as the need arises. This time of year for me it is keep putting on… I could eat a bag of Craisins at a sitting, too… If you get a lighted basketball, you need those glow necklaces to go on the goal so he can see the target…
My computer is wanting a re-start to update, so I will let it do its thing. I am needing coffee as my fingers aren’t doing what I’m wanting them to do… I’ll check back later.
Stay warm!

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Good Morning,,,I am late getting here and everyone has come and gone already. I got up did my morning and went down and had coffee...made a batch of oatmeal craisin cookies dough.....they love crassins in this house too. That is in the fridge cooling. I need to bake bread today too...Tonight is our Guild Christmas party and since I paid for it I am going. It will most likely be my last go. If the next years schedule is out I may look and see what they are having for speakers,,,,if it looks good I will go to those meetings that have some interest and not re join....just too much drama for me.
I have a few uglies to do and might have time to run to the store....I still have coupons for 50% off even sales prices and all the Chritmas stuff is on sale already....so I might pick up some gifties for next year.....
Well Ken is yelping for me to help him find something or other....I just got the kitchen cleaned up and he is in there,,,so I really need to get in there and supervise Hope you all have a great day...XXXOOO

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Good morning, good morning,
We are also in the teens this morning and at this moment there are not white things falling from the sky!
I decided to try and tackle my pile of scraps and get them cut down into different width strips. They just keep multiplying like bunnies! I have given myself an out that if this gets too tedious, I could pass the scraps on. I'm trying to remind myself that it is not my moral duty to use every scrap!
Chriss - that is so cute about Marilyn wanting to get Jerry a glow-in-the-dark basketball! One of my good memories is my dad taught me how to throw a football and we would throw it back and forth. I was not good at catching - too much of a fraidy cat! But he could always catch my throws.
Sharona - has the heating situation gotten sorted out yet? I hate being cold. I've basically gotten to the point of looking ridiculous in the winter because my clothing choices would not make anyone's fashion list, but I'm warm! David's dad built a barn/workshop and he put radiant heat in the floor and runs it off of a water heater. Boy, does it keep that place warm. If I ever win the lottery, I would love a house with radiant heat; and a gazebo!
Dorothy - I did get my cheese at Aldi's and I managed not to get myself into more trouble by buying the other seasonal delicacies - that's what happens when I don't have a quarter and can only get what I can carry in a box!
Maryz - those rounds are huge! You are quite a trooper helping to load and haul around that wood. And you are going to get another gift done too? You are truly a renaissance woman!
I'd better get going here. Have a great day everyone,
Karlene

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Teresa - good for Courtney. Y'all have fun...but you know the time will fly by. It's like the quilt show - I wait a whole year for it to come and time creeps by but the two days I have at the quilt show fly by in the blink of an eye. Best of luck with the SP duty.
Suz - prayer sent up for mommy and baby today. Congrats. You still have the Thanksgiving tablecloth on? For crying out loud - what have you been doing???? LOL I hope you know I'm just teasing you. You'll get that tablecloth off the table all in good time. Relax.
Lois - what kind of drop cookies?
Redtop - I don't know what processing the pork entails but it doesn't sound fun to me. My DD had a boyfriend once and his parents butchered a hog. They asked my DD if we would want a few lbs. of bacon and so she brought home some bacon. I thought it would taste like Hormel or whatever but it didn't - it wasn't smoked. We didn't care for it at all. I used it for cooking peas and beans but we didn't have it for breakfast.
Carol - I don't know what to say about that treadle but I think, if I had room for it, I'd get it. The cabinet sounds lovely.
Izzy - you are sure a wonderful mom and wife to bake those p-nut butter balls while you are allergic to them. I'd be teaching the guys how to make their own cookies! I don't know about where you live but Texas mice can get the cheese or peanut butter right off those snap traps and never trip it. It amazes DH and me. We have to use those sticky traps.
Maryz - the bright side of having Bill's students over today is that it will free up some of your time to do the Koi. You deserve that time as you've been slaving away the past few days.
Becca - I feel so guilty because I haven't sent card the past few years and I probably won't this year either. This year it's all about me me me. I'm working on MY Christmas quilt every evening. Aren't I terrible? I love getting cards so I should send them.
Sandy - my gosh, you've had a whole extended family in that silverware drawer! I hope they are gone soon.
Chriss - I've never had a scan but if I ever do I'll try to think of it as being "cozy" in there. I wore a Christmas-y/winter sweatshirt to work today because it's the Christmas lunch we put on for all the workers today. I get to eat, too, so I go out in the warehouse where they are serving (Mexican food) and all those men cheer for me - lol lol - because I do their paychecks. Anyway, I thought I'd try to look festive but I will probably burn up in my office.
Yesterday I got almost everything ordered on line so I only have to get a couple more gifts plus a graduation gift for my niece and my shopping will be over. Then comes the wrapping part. I guess I'll have to clear off my cutting table to do that because the table in the breakfast room has my Christmas quilt on it. I finally finished sewing down the binding and now I'm blinging it - having myself a blast. Love love love the bling. For now I'm at work and I need to do the bonus checks for the office staff and supervisors so we can give them out at our Christmas dinner tomorrow night.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Good Morning Girls
As promised, I'm here this morning to catch up with you all! A day OFF! In a little while I'm going to take a quick shower, dry my hair, throw on a hat and bundle up to go out shopping in the COLD--only 4 above here this morning!
Teresa...my goodness girl friend you have been busy busy busy! So glad Courtney got the internships she wanted. I hope she enjoys all the new challenges she has in store! Will be thinking of you on Sunday when the kids arrive--how wonderful to be able to give her lots of HUGS!!! Stock up and keep some for later!
Judi.. by all means, get in the kitchen and watch over Ken-- you never know what a mess a man can make in the kitchen. Or when he will shout "Where is the ___________" when it's right in front of him!
Chickie.. we've had unusually cold temps for December--I check the weather in Anchorage every day and it's been warmer there than here! Not that I want to move to AK tho! Thanks for the tip about Fabric.com for minkey--tho I dare not go there!
Suzette.. can't wait to hear the news of the new baby! Glad you don't have to start treatments til after the holidays, will give you a chance to enjoy them without worry!
Carol.. Sorry I can't offer you much advise on treadle machine, but if it looks like it could work I'd probably go for it. I have my Grandmothers Singer Treadle machine that I learned to sew on but it's in pretty tough shape, no belt for it. but I love having it because I know it was my Grandmothers!
Maryz....My goodness that's a lot of wood! I remember having to heat our house with wood--hated it! Maybe because I was alone with 3 little kids and had to haul it all and keep the burner going all night! How cool that Bill is giving Q-bot lessons! If I had know I would have sent him a couple quilts to use as teaching lessons! LOL.
Chriss... oh please send some of that heat up here! I have to say I kind of miss being Santa Claus and having the kids sneak up stairs early on Christmas morning so excited to see what Santa brought. Santa came even when they were in their teens! Jen got her first car from Santa! We hid it at the neighbors until just the right moment!
Izzy.. hope you can catch that little furry Christmas mouse! I'm not scared of mice, I just don't like them! You are a sweetie to make P-butter cookies!!
Karlene.... Did you get much of the snow storm in Upstate NY? Oh how I feel for the folks that got 3 Feet! I can live with the cold, but 3' of snow makes me down right crabby! When you're done with your scraps, come on over... I have a few buckets you can go through.
Cindyg... since you're writing out bonus checks... my name is Mary M. Hanson so you can make one out to me too!
Guess I better get going... need to get that shopping done today so I can mail off packages tomorrow!
Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Good morning,
Just finished breakfast here and now waiting for the new furniture delivery. Then I will be off to help DDIL make a slip longer -adding lace ruffles and netting - so it shows below the hem of her dresses -the new look.
We got the office all moved - looks really nice - it's clean - lol! The new front living room is ready as well. I will now go on the hunt for drapes in there.
Sent home with DS4 the wreath wallhanging - the bow was all that I needed to tie and add. I learned - finally- to tie those loopy fancy bows - it came out well. Three to go -they will be done this afternoon.
Well my furniture delivery just called, a little later than planned, but that is fine.
Need to go -
Hugs
Jana

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Wheee thought I would sit down and rest for a minutes.
The building is ready for the hog and DH and friend are working on him. Tomorrow will be my turn--grinding and making sausage, slicing hams and shoulders.
I've gotten most of the uglies completed and got the kitchen windows decorated for Christmas. The tree sits in the living room-one string of lights are not working.
I do want to sew on my Bonnie Hunter mystery this evening, maybe late evening.

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Good morning!
Teresa - sounds like you've had a week of doctor appointments. I hope they can find the right mix of meds to make you feel better. That's great news about Courtney!
Suzette - prayers sent up for your step-daughter. How exciting! Glad they're holding off on the radiation until next year.
Lois - I bet your house will smell wonderful today.
Redtop - too bad we can't pitch in to help you process the meat. DH's mom and dad grew up on farms, and all the women-folk would get together to help process whatever was butchered. Many hands make light work, she always said. Good luck in getting everything done.
Carol - I would take it just for the cabinet! I also don't know the value - maybe check ebay to see what similar machines are going for?
Izzy - good luck in catching that mouse! How sweet of you to make those peanut balls for your family, especially given your allergies. Have fun opening tonight.
Maryz - good grief woman, do you ever rest? I need to go take a nap just reading about all that wood splitting and the cleanup, etc. And add company on top of that?! I know your koi quilt will be gorgeous. Hope you get some sew time soon.
Becca - I bet you're glad you got the cards started! Hope you can finish them today.
Sandy - how wonderful to see you! Blech to the mice in the silverware drawer, but I bet you're right - they were visiting Mickey. Sure hope y'all can do the hay thing before the next storm. We're supposed to be in the 50s today - it feels like summer!
Chriss - how brilliant of Mar to give a glow in the dark ball! What a cute idea. I sure hope it doesn't get hot for you . If it were me, I'd have to take the sweatshirt off and then, well, it wouldn't be pretty. I think you're pretty smart to schedule your oil change where the good stores are.
Miriam - heat wave indeed! I echo your sentiments about winter. Those are great ideas for night-time bball. Stay warm...
Judi - your house will smell wonderful also! Hope you were able to help Ken find what he needed. I hope your guild party is fun and drama-free.
Tina - have fun at PT. Rain? Wow....
Karlene - you're smart - I'd rather be comfortable than fashionable. I wonder about the women who wear spike heels in snowstorms. We are still resetting the furnace every eight hours or so. DH said he will call the repair guy soon. I tried to convince him to put radiant heat in the garage but it was a no-go. My younger step-daughter has it in her house - it is wonderful! Whenever you step on the tile with bare feet, it's so toasty and warm. Plus it adds humidity to the house. They live in Alamosa, and it's been getting down to -28 at night. I'll be seeing your mom next Thursday at the luncheon - she's going to show me lots of Harley baby pictures.
Cindyg - how sweet of you to bring festive to the Christmas lunch. I bet you are their favorite person! I can't wait to see how you are blinging the quilt. We aren't putting up any Christmas decorations (all packed away somewhere ) or even buying gifts - everyone gets $$ this year so no wrapping even. I'm trying not to think about it because it makes me sad. Oh well, it's just one year. I love ordering online! Good luck wrapping everything, When DH had his scan, his shoulder got stuck as they were putting him in the tube (he's 6'5 and a big guy). He said he would never do another one.
Maryq - man that is some kind of cold weather you're going out in. Brrr! Have a great time shopping. I bet it was so fun to see Jen's face when she got that car for Christmas.
Jana - I've always wanted to learn how to tie fancy bows - do you give lessons? Happy furniture arrival day.
Today I have to drive into town to get my hairs done. The builders showed up at 7:30 and are shoveling snow off the roof. I can't even watch it makes me so scared for them. I made banana bread muffins yesterday - DH's have raisins and coconut, mine have chocolate chips and walnuts. YUM! Have a great day, all. xoxo Sharona

Re: Thursday, December 12th,
Hi Everyone!
I rarely if ever leave messages on this board but just want you all to know that I read up on all of you occasionally to see how everyone is doing. I just wanted to tell you all that I had such a nice summer and fall and that I was lucky enough to attend El’s Teacher Training in Paducah this past summer. Oh my what a time we all had! If any of you are considering the training I would say take it and breathe in all the knowledge that is offered from El, Sue and Ann. What a wonderful time!! I love the Paducah store, it’s so quaint and of course the National Quilt Museum is just blocks away.
I also had the opportunity to attend Camp Cedar Glen in California. I spent three days there and had a wonderful time! I again met wonderful women and let me tell you, those women are serious about sewing definetly no slackers there! The women were making such beautiful projects! Oh what a time! We got to visit El’s home, “Bears Paw Cabin” what a beautiful home and her studio is amazing!! Had a wonderful, wonderful time!
I’m not sure when I will be making it back on this message board but I would like to take this time to wish you all a wonderful holiday season and I hope the New Year finds all of you and your families happy and healthy. Blessings to all! Val
