Good Cloudy Morning....

I'm expecting a little snow today. OK with me I'm staying home. I think I'll do some baking to keep the house warm & smelling good. I'm planing some sewing & Christmas cards. A quite day.

Jules.....isn't it always a nice surprise when a visit turns out better than we unexpected it to. Happy sewing day!

xt2....happy dance for you finishing the throw. Love when it's in the washer. The 2 or 3 years before I move every time I cleaned out something I toss or set things aside for the thrift store. Good luck!

Suzette....it annoys me so much when ever I do that. The worst is I'm never sure what I hit to loose it all. Good news for you at the Dr's...an answer to prayer. Our ice storm was very light & now it's snowing...expecting less than 2".

Lois....I agree with you snow & cookie making go together.

Izzy....OMG......I hope they didn't damage anything and I hope they catch them. How crazy was that.

Dolores.....I love shopping on line. This was my best year for bargains. Happy Quilting.

Vicky....I'm surprised we have so little snow what with all that's going around. We'er lucky this time.

Judi....you sound like a whirlwind...I see you with speed lines all around you.....lol

OK all you ladies that made Dear Jane....""Are you crazy!!!"" I've looked over the book thoroughly. Some of those blocks are scary! There's more seam allowance than piece of quilt. I might do it. I'm thinking of just a few colors.

Love & Prayers to all in need.............Kathy

good morning! We're up about 10 degrees! Yay!!

JULES - look at you! Such a social butterfly! So happy you enjoyed your visit and hope today is just as nice!

KARON - I usually get the purge urge just after Christmas when I'm putting it all back in the box and doing my first of the year cleaning.

SUZ - Sometimes when my 'confuser' does things like that I can back arrow and regain what I typed. (and sometimes not. ;o) ) glad your appt went so well! Good luck with the next one!

LOIS - Mmmmmm....... cookies....

IZZY - wow! It's exciting to be you! I know it's a cliche`, but there is never a dull moment at your place!!

DELORES - I love to watch dogs in the snow! I wish we'd get some here for Scottie. Good luck with the next storm!

VICKY - have a nice day with Shannon.

JUDI - you are so happy-busy! You have a very nice life! and I'm relieved for your friend. Hugs to her!

CHICKIE - oh, that would be awful! A meth lab in one of your rentals. Stay warm in the snow. I bet O & T love their ATV run yesterday!

KARLENE - love that quilt!

TINA - that propane company would be getting a hot letter from me! and isn't there someone to report them to?? That's unconcionable.

IRISH - you gave me my laugh for the day - the visual of that obit - "cause of death: self-strangulation by binding." I better be careful, because that's how I do it, too! Only now there's usually a puppy hanging on the end of it!

well, my relaxing day went out the window yesterday. Friends had some big fir trees taken down in their backyard and offered us the wood. They are already cut up into rounds. We thought easy peasy! WRONG! We had to take Scout the TRactor over and use it to haul all the rounds out of a small gully, up onto flat ground, roll them into the bucket, and back-up, turn around, drive around through the front yard to our lflatbed trailer, and load them up. My job was to run the tractor while DH managed the chains. The rounds are too big to lift. We got one load and there's at least 3 more loads. Talk about being twice-warmed by your wood!! So that's where I'll be all this week, I think!! Image

I'm back! Good morning gals! Its been a rough couple of months for me and my family. Just to bring you up to speed, after my mom died, my dad was really having a hard time coping. He was so lonely and really heart broken. He had a stroke Nov. 16, a pretty bad one, on the left side of his brain, which controls the right side of your body. It was right on top of his spinal column, which is where the speech center is amoung many other functions. He was in and out of conciousness for 2 weeks, developed pheunomia and finally went to be with mom on Nov. 30. Though I am heartbroken, I am happy that he is no longer suffering and aching for mom. 124 days after he lost the love of his life, he joined her in heaven.

So, needless to say, very little sewing or quilting has been done at my house lately. I had all sorts of plans for Christmas gifts for my sisters and my quilting friends & the ladies at work. But I think I will resort to everyone's favorite, baking cookies & breads!

I read through all of your updates, and see that life just keeps moving on. Prayers & hugs to those in need and to everyone else!

I am looking forward to tonights webinar & plan on trying to work on DD's OU pj pants. Baby Avery is 3 months old today and just continues to be a joy & refuge for us.

Sorry to trample so many of you while I was fiddling with Photobucket.

CHRISS - I put that chicken recipe in yesterday's Supper thread if you want it. I'd want to check the fine print before making any agreements to live in the 1830's for just one week. I'd want to make sure I'd come back to 2013!! I'm told that one of my ancestors moved to Texas, too. I believe his name was Stephen. My family name is AUSTIN.

CINDY - I read where your niece graduated from college this weekend! Wow! Even I'M proud of her!! Do you always have a lotto at your family Thanksgiving or was that a one time deal? I had a lotto for a quilt at my first family reunion.

JANA - bummer about that football game, wasn't it.

KATHY - haha!! Yes, we're Crazy Janes! I'm saving those harder blocks until I get off this darned medication and can drink again. It can only help!

BECCA - happy mammo!

MARY Q - happy days off!! Yippee!!

TRACI - so sorry to learn of your family's troubles. so often, it happens that way when a couple has been joined at the heart for so many years. God bless.

Now to hang up and get busy here! Got some uglies to do before we head out on wood detail again.

Good morning, no snow here in Surprise, Az, but had freezing over the last couple of nights. Had to cover my flowers to protect them.

Decorations are up, most of the presents are wrapped , still waiting for three to arrive this week. But most are in santa's sled heading to the east coast. Doesn't look like dd1 from S.C. and the kids will be coming for Christmas after all. Money situation. Will know for sure next week. First time we will have Christmas without our kids. Strange feeling. Of course, I know they have their own lives, and we decided to retire in Az 13 yrs ago. Of well, we have been invited for dinner on the 25th if the kids do not come. Nice of her, but she is a little wacko, not sure I want to spend a day listening to her political rants. Lol

Wasn't it Kathy who asked if those doing Dear Jane were crazy. YES, we are. Either that or drunk. Lol. I plan on getting back to her after the first of the year.

Need to go to the sewing room here in the Grand and take care of the checks that come in for classes. If it is a one day class, we only have to pay $5.00. Lots of quilting, beading, knitting, sewing, etc classes going on. Sun City Grand is a great place to live.
Lots of things going on. After doing that, I will go to my bee and finishnupmthe binding on table runner for my friend Ann for Christmas.

Stay warm and inside. Love to,all.

Carole

Jules - you are a social butterfly this week. I'm envious. Have fun with your friend and your sewing friend, Chris.

Xteacher - Sometimes it's easier to replace those blinds than to clean them - LOL LOL. I know exactly what you mean about the clutter. I purged a little while back and I still have too much "stuff".

Suz - oh, my goodness, trees and branches coming down can cause lots of damage and make people lose their power. We don't get that from snow and ice but from hurricanes.

Lois - one of these days I won't be working and when that day comes I hope I'm still alive so I can have the time to bake Christmas cookies. My grandmother's cousin use to make the most delicious fruit cookies and I have her recipe. One of these days I will make some.

Izzy - what did happen at your place last night? I'm glad you are OK. Do you own a shotgun?

Delores - I don't know if my dogs would like the snow or not. They, expecially Scooter, don't like to get their feet wet - LOL. They're not spoiled or anything. I do like shopping on line, too, but there's just some things I have to shop for in person. For instance - one of my grandsons wants a Hooey hat so I went on line to get one. The hat is $28 - $30 but the shipping is $7.00. That's just crazy - it doesn't take $7 to mail a ball cap! So I will go to the mall for that and my sister's Pandora charms. Oh, well, maybe we'll have a flash mob while we're there. I've never seen one in person.

Vicky - have fun with Shannon. Poor Caleb - I bet he's freezing. He might need some hot soup for supper.

Judi - "Catching Fire" movie - I haven't heard of it. We so seldom go to the movies. We've been married 26 years and I bet we've only been to the movies 5 times. It's nice that you can have a family dinner once a month. My kids live too far away to do that. Have fun with yours. The news about your friend is great.

Chriss - I don't dare go back in time. I have enough trouble going forward! All this computer and technology stuff has left me in the dust. I can't figure out my phone but my 5 yr. old granddaughter know exactly how to do it - LOL.

Kathy - yes, the Dear Jane ladies are crazy. So are the hexi hos. BUT those quilts are just gorgeous when finished. I saw a Dear Jane done in off whites, dark and med. greens, and med. and light purple and it was so striking. That could be because purple is my favorite color or it could be that using just the three colors made it look so pretty and uncluttered.

Becca - I had my mamms grammed last week as well as my well woman visit to my ob/gyn. I already have my results back and everything is normal....at least in two areas they are normal. The rest of me is questionable.

DH had to work a little late last night and was to late getting home to go to the mall so we will try again tonight. I want to get done. Also working on my Christmas quilt binding but I think I only have about 2' to go and then I get to bling it. WOO HOO. I need to make a tote for my DD's boyfriends mama, too. Gotta get busy.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.
