Re: Monday, October 28
Good Morning Girls!
Yup, here it is Monday again! The weeks are flying by! It's only Monday but I am looking forward to the weekend already! I get back the hour of sleep (or sewing time) I lost in the spring! Don't forget to turn your clocks back this weekend--except you AZ gals!
Worked all weekend and didn't even wander downstairs to peak in the sewing room. Stopped for groceries on the way home last night so at least there is a little food in the house! Have tomorrow off to run the errands and maybe go down and see my Auntie. I did hear the word "Snow" in the weather forecast and I hope they are kidding!
Lois... hope the Dr gives you good news tomorrow! I bet your as so ready to walk normally and use your right foot to sew!
Jules... sometime a good cry in the bathroom is a good thing! Releases endorphins and get's the stress out! Hope things settled down for Charley and that she gets her house set up just the way she wants it.
Vicky... how great that you are done with your SS already! I've barely started. Wouldn't be good for the hostess to be the one that's late!
Kathy... it's a little chilly here this morning too. A couple weeks ago I got all my outside fall chores done too.. hoses away, lawn mower stowed. I'm always so proud of myself when I do stuff like that! Have you found more good music to walk to?
Tina... your DD looks like she is ready to POP! Don't think she'll make it to Nov 5th... at least for her sake I hope she doesn't! I bet she is so anxious to welcome that baby boy!
Judi.... listen to the little voices in your own head about how much activity you should do... start slow. Love the picture of your DGD in her Homecoming dress! She looks like Tinker Bell! So cute!
Chriss.... How are you liking your new car? If I'm ever going to get a new one... I think I'll have to quit buying fabric for a while! LOL
Chrissy.... Many prayers for Myles today. I sure hope the specialist can come up with a good treatment plan for him!
Maryz... that Christmas Quilt is AWESOME!! All the red work!! by HAND!
Would take me YEARS to accomplish something like that!
Suzette.. Hope you get lots of good information as your class tonight.
Well, girls, time for me to fly... hit the shower and get ready for work. My work shift for the next few weeks will be 10-7 or so--perfect for me as it gives me a little time in the evening to sneak down to the sewing room!
Wishing you all a most wonderful day

Re: Monday, October 28
Good morning!
Suzette - your week will be busy. We're going to have to get down to the Houston festival one of these times.
Lois - I'm still so thrilled you figured out a way to sew. Fingers crossed for the appt tomorrow.
Tess - sorry you didn't get a good night's sleep - hopefully tonight will be different.
Vicky - don't you wonder who's coming in and making these messes?
Kathy - in Troy, OH were DS2 lives, they almost never have trick or treat on Halloween. It was changed several years ago after a drunk driver plowed into a bunch of kids who were out t-o-t'ing. What a brilliant idea to walk around the basement!
Jules - I bet Charley is over the moon with her new house. Sometimes I grow weary of all the peacekeeping, don't you? That is so funny that one of Charley's brown shoes ran away to your room. Sure hope those winds don't come back - glad you're safe.
Chriss - thanks for the comforting words about the DSDs - I think I've finally figured out they just want to be mad and will figure out a way to do that. I need to start/finish my SS gifts this week also. I hope you find your history book - how cool would that be? During my genealogy work, I found out some distant relative of mine has written four books about my dad's side of the family. It contains wills, land titles and other legal papers. Fingers crossed that you find 'your' book.
Judi - my but you have been running your machines until I'm betting smoke comes out of them! Have fun at the gym - I guess you just average out what the three of them said and walk briskly. Good luck with those windows.
Chrissy1 - what a wonderful surprise from Mo! Prayers going up for Myles - poor little guy.
Maryq - good grief I'm worn out from reading your post. You sure are working hard. I'm so glad to read you got groceries - I always worry about your cupboard being bare. Have fun sewing in the evenings.
Today is more of the same - unpack/put away/repeat. The upstairs is almost done. DH invited his DD2 and family (the ones in Alamosa) here for Thanksgiving, so now we have to get the downstairs done, including buying two beds. DS1 came over yesterday to finally see the new house - he's still in mourning (as am I!) for the old house - it's where he got married. He'll be bringing the rest of the family one day this week (they both had colds). I think I'll make a plan for how I'll clean these windows in the Spring - ha! How's that for procrastination. Have a blessed day. xoxo Sharona

Re: Monday, October 28
Good morning, good morning,
I can't believe we are at the end of Oct. already. We still have not had to turn on the pellet stove full time yet so it has been a wonderful fall.
I spent the weekend working on these baby blankets and have a few more to tie. I'm hoping to drop them off to Victoria this afternoon if it works with her sched. At her appt. last Thur. they said the baby had dropped, but I don't think they have even checked to see if she's started to dilate or efface yet. Tomorrow she will be one week away from her due date.
We are gearing up for our fall carnival at our church which is an outreach to our community. I'm setting my mind to make about 100 apple dumplings again. Once they are done, it isn't bad, but anticipating making them is daunting!
Okay, while it is quiet and I have all my work caught up, I'm going to work on doing some tying.
Have a great day,
Karlene

Good Morning!
No rain this morning, but we had breezes all afternoon yesterday and through the night. Lots of leaves down. DH is crying over his new roof! he'll be up there blowing them off today. I will be his "cord wrangler".
SHARONA - glad you're back! sorry about the two S-DD's fussiness. What did they think you should do? I'll post some more pix of Scottie when I'm done with this post. I just didn't have time yesterday. He really does crack us up.
SUZ - sorry you didn't get that binding done but it will be nice to have something to do with your hands at the orientation today. and such a perfect project to work on! I didn't get a photo of my DD with her quilt. DH took the battery out of the camera to charge it and then left it in his office.
LOIS - that says a lot about how time flies when even you, off your foot for weeks, think it's going fast! I wish you a super good report from the doc. How is HE doing with his hip? I saw your photos of your blocks. I love them. Are you doing a sampler quilt? I missed a lot while I was camping.
TESS - sorry you got so little sleep last night. Does your mom need a lot of care? Hope you can squeeze out a nap today.
VICKY - I see you have gremlins living at your house, too! Then come in and trash the place when no one is looking!
KATHY - I love reading about how you have settled into your new home and how much you enjoy it. Happy quilting! Good luck on the machine quilting. I used to do all my quilts on my Bernie. I even did a queen once. It was a feat and not the best job, but I got 'er dun! (it was right after that experience that I took the plunge and bought a long arm!)
JULES - A big YAY! for Charley! Glad they got all moved in, despite any stresses. now they can settle. You know, you often come to the States in NOV. Maybe next year you should plan to stop in Houston at the Quiltfest before going on to Vegas or whereever the rest of your plans take you. It is STUNNING! Any pictures you see just don't do it justice.
CHRISS - you get to go to work! That means you get to ride in that new car! I saw one like it in a parking lot yesterday. Now to find the light green color . . . What fun to have your family printed up in a book on the history of your area. I hope you're there! I'd suggest you get up earlier and sew in the mornings, but I know you already get up so early you're practically up before you're in bed!
JUDI - my head spins when I read all you get done in a day! And it will be time to start dragging out all your 27 totes of decorations soon, too! I started doing my bindings by machine because my hands can't take much hand-sewing anymore. Took me a few "unimportant quilts" (if there is such a thing) to get the hang of it, but it really isn't too hard. It took me an hour to put 360" of binding and the label on Lara's quilt yesterday. You might give it a try since you seem to be cranking them out so quickly lately.
CHRISSY - poor Myles. I pray for him often that they can find something that truly helps him. What fun to have MO home for a surprise. Two of my older brothers surprised us once at the same time when they were in the Navy. I was only about 7 then. and neither brother knew the other one was coming home! JOY!!
MARY Q - thanks for the kind comments on my quilt. That redwork did take a lot of time. I did it in the car, in front of the TV, while waiting for appts, etc. But oh so hard on my hands! Sure wish you had more time off. I feel guilty quilting when you don't get to so much.
SHARONA - Thanksgiving guests! Well, that will really put the fuel to your unpacking! but everything will be all beautiful and organized by then. We'd love to see some photos of your house and property if you have any extra time . . . .
KARLENE - work, baby blankets, apples! Oh my! you aren't letting any moss grow under your feet, either! It would be funny if you and Tina had your grandbabies on the same day!
TINA - Know things are busy at your house, too! Hope Holly *POPS* soon! Nov 2nd would be nice . . .
CINDY - you're out there somewhere. Four more days! BOING! What's on your list?
CHICKIE - Are you all recovered yet from the wild weekend at DS's? Are the pecans all in? and are you getting to sit down and sew finally?
We did finish Lara's quilt yesterday and gave it to her when we went for dinner. She said she loved it! and I got hugs and kisses and "I love you's"! Today will be cleaning the roof of the maple leaves and maybe raking some out of the flowerbeds. It's almost time to start putting up lights on the shrubs and I like to tidy up the yard first.
As for sewing - still working on my tess. star. I have it about 1/6th done. But I have about 4 little gifts that I want to work on, too. I need a Mini-Me to help! Tomorrow a client is dropping a quilt by for us to do. I have no idea what the quilt is like and she says she doesn't care how it's quilted. It's just a top she found that her late MIL had done and she didn't like her MIL. So it might go quickly!
I'm going to post pictures of Scottie in a few minutes because several of you asked. I must say, we are having so much fun with this little guy!
May your bobbin always be full! (of the right color thread!)

Suz - I want to see the pix!!! Did you know that when the Market is over that all the vendors have to pack up and move for the Quilt Festival? Seems crazy but a lot of vendors at Market do not have a booth at Festival and a lot of vendors don't go to Market, just the show. I bet it's wild around there on that day!
Lois - I'm keeping my fingers crossed and my hands folded that you get to put pressure on your foot.
Tess - Kenderosa made that home made soap and said it works great.
Vicky - my sink is full of dirty dishes and we ate out all weekend. Go figure.
Kathy - ahhhh TV work. I do my hand applique while watching TV or I sew down binding by hand. If I just sit and watch TV without having something in my hands I feel like I'm wasting time.
Jules - I thought about you when they had your weather on the news this morning. I wondered, too, if it affected Charley's move. Guess not.
Chriss - yes, we do have a method for going through the quilt show. We go up one aisle and down another and we keep it in order so that we don't miss anything. Even at that, we still miss stuff. We can go down an aisle on Friday and go back to that same aisle on Saturday and see stuff we didn't see the day before. It's overwhelming but not so overwhelming that I'd ever stay away - ROFLOL!!!
Judi - my cardiologist says walk briskly. My GYN said NOT to run because the constant pounding could jar my bladder so that it falls again. I had a bladder suspension when they did my hystie. Plus, the older we get the less useful our muscles are to hold things in place.
Chrissy1 - I know you enjoyed Mo. Keeping Myles in my prayers. I feel so bad for the little fellow.
Maryq - if I got off at 7:00 I'd have to go home and go right to bed - LOL. Yet you have time to sew after you get home?
Sharona - well, heck yes, you need to get down here to the Houston Quilt Festival. Next year would be GREAT!
Karlene - wish I could have an apple dumpling!
I sewed some over the weekend, did a bit of laundry, went to the grocery store with DH and was lazy. I was resting up for this week. I have tons of work to get done at my office so I can be off on Friday. I can't believe it's finally almost here. This time next week I'll be lamenting that I have to wait a whole year before the quilt show happens again. But right now I'm wwwwaaayyyyy too excited. I must try to concentrate.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good morning
)
Holly is at work, feeling very yucky and hurting.
Karlene, when we took her last Thursday she was dilated 1% and effaced 70%
Chriss, I wish I had a before pic to show you, she was flat as a pancake.....she started out weighing 107 and was thin as a rail, that;s how she was with Jaz too
) she gained 60 something pounds with Jaz and Jaz only weighed 7 lbs 10oz exactly what Holly weighed when she was born
)
Maryz, LOL that would be cool if they had them on the same day!
)
Well my washer just beeped at me and I have PT this morning so I better scoot.
Chrissy1, prayers for Myles.
I hope you all have a wonderful day! Prayers for those in need.

Oh how I wish my job was the weather girl. You never have to get it right and still get paid. Woke up to rain--yeah clothes line was full all four lines. Rain wasnt to be here until tonight. Bunch of fibbers LOL Oh well consider it extra rinse cycle.
)
Lois I have funny story about getting to walk. When I broke mine and had 4 pins put in it I got to start bearing wt when we left to go to hawaii for 25th wedding anniv:) Yeah I still had to use my crutches and boot. Well some blonde lady fell off cliff into a water fall when sight seeing. Every time someone saw me they asked if I was her. I also went snorkling with my boot on ( that leg floated better than the rest of me LOL). My DH would drag me out of ocean. Kinda looked live cave man draggin woman by hair LOL He would then bring me crutches. Use those on sandy beach oh the work out you will get. Nothing was stopping my Hawaii trip LOL. Just be careful walking the first time. Your leg muscles will be weaker in that leg and you may get some leg cramps. I sure did:(
Tina I sure hope baby comes on day I guessed but I am sure DD wants him out now:) Prayers:))
DD kept me up most night started at 3 this morning YUK Now at work and really dont recall much LOL so tired.
I did get 3 blocks done for SBS wk 7 done last night:)) Now to work on wk 8 thank goodness they are simple this week. I am really learning some new skills. Ok I cut my first 45 degree angle last night after fiddling with ruler for 15 min I really needed a life line and wanted to call a friend:)))) Oh my then I had to do a mirror image LOL another 15 min with ruler to get that figured out.
Yup give me squares and triangles lol.

Re: Monday, October 28
Blankets are done so I have time to catch up with you all!
Maryq - I love your new/old sewing table/cabinet. Who did you get to move it downstairs for you?
Tina - Victoria was on the fluffier side when she got pregnant and I'm not sure how much she has gained, but she has a 40F bra size and you hardly notice that next to her belly!
Sharona - you can never make things equal between kids - all you can do is try to be fair and if they have a problem, it is their problem.
Jules - I saw on the news about your St. Jude storm and it sounds like a whopper. Stay safe.
Maryz - I can't believe Scottie is only 12 wks. He was just a wee little thing when you got him! Good for him on his potty training.
Cindyg - enjoying the countdown with you for the Houston show and it will be fun to hear your report.
Mel - even though you missed your grandson, what a great thing that your son is going to church.
I tried a 1 hr cinnamon roll recipe last week and it was pretty good. And the shorter time is sure nice because when you have a hankering for a cinnamon roll, you want it now!

Re: Monday, October 28
Good early afternoon from a very sunny, but still chilly, SW. Pa...Last night was our coldest so far but today is warming up very nicely......And guess who has taken the mower out of the shed????
Yesterday afternoon, we picked Kathy and her fellow up at the airport and she's been non stop talking since she touched down...Today, they are off and running, trying to visit with as many friends as she can fit in...Boy, it's nice having her home although I probably won't be seeing too much of her...They will be leaving her on Thursday to visit with her girls until Sat. and then back here and leave on Sunday....From hearing them talk about Reno and surrounding areas, it sounds like heaven...Gotta get out there one of these days.....
Chriss, I also saw a car like your new one but it was silver so now I'm looking for the green....How neat to have family written up in a book...Of course there are some old, old members of our family that probably have been "written up" and best not read about....Jim has been having a great time talking to Kathy's fellow about his experiences in Korea...Some are only for the men to hear, if you know what I mean.....
Lois, hoping for a good report from your doctor...As Chriss said, you've been dragging that foot for quite awhile...When you do something, you do it up right, don't you? But, be patient.....I think the thing that bothered me the most when I was allowed to finally stand was that feeling of "needles" in my foot and up my leg...But look at all you've accomplished, one legged......
Maryz, loved the pictures of Scottie and of your DD's Christmas quilt....Bill sounds like Jim after we got our new roof...He was always up on the back porch sweeping the leaves....I was about to hide the broom.....
Well, I better get busy....We still have nasty water and have to boil or use bottled water...Since I don't have dish washer, we wash the dishes and then rinse them in bleach water and air dry...It's been a pain to remember when brushing your teeth to not just turn on the facet and to use the bottled water, etc. Hopefully tomorrow the ban will be lifted...Oh well, I could have to carry water from the creek as they did in olden days, right????This little hardship is nothing......
Hope you all have a great day.................
