Good morning!

Spent yesterday with my son, Tom. We got him all signed up with the Board of Realtors and then we went to lunch. We both had shark, rice pilaf and steamed veggies for lunch at our favorite fish place in Riverside. Time spent with my son is always cherished and fun. I even got a chance to see 4 yr.old Juliet...DGD#4.

DD#2 has been stressing over Drew's 1st birthday celebration. She hasn't had the time to plan and the $$$ is short. What's that saying...do you have more month at the end of your money?
She decided to do a double baptism for her boys, Jay is 6 and Drew just turned 1 on Wed. The boys will be baptised tomorrow and a small reception at her house afterwards. Cake and ice cream and gifts for Drew!!! Her pastor is moving on to bigger and better things at the end of the year and she really wanted him to do the honors before he left.

A trip to Wal Mart is on the agenda today...running out of eggs and bread.

Congrats Chriss on your new purchase!

Gotta hit the uglies before shopping so I bid you all adieux...for now.

Love, Lucie

Good Sunny Morning.....

I quilted until 1:30 last night. I was not going to bed one more night with that quilt unfinished. So that makes today binding day. I'm so looking forward to moving on to my next project. Although I have loved all the scary movies...the older the better. Now that I don't have to open the window I think I'll try then sewing table in front of it.This way I get a real good look at the lake. Now the end of the table is near the window.

Teresa....you sure do deserve a day off. Enjoy! I like the Hallmark channel but I'm not ready for Christmas. Hallmark cards are my favorite.

Suzette....sorry to hear that the woman is running into difficulties. Maybe they should try that Hyperbaric(sp?) Chamber it has worked wonders for Kim's wounds. She's in my prayers. Good luck with her quilt.

Lois.....hope you sewing goes well.

Vicky....WOW! That was some production. Looked bigger than Broadway & with real animals.

Velda....you are cold. I better refresh my winter coat so I'm ready.
Praying for your baby's safe arrival.

Sue....we all can seeeeeee you!!!

Tess.....that snow is sneaking in here & there. I'll be on the look out. Happy Quilting.

Suzette.....happy to hear the blood work went smoothly. Chilly is a great idea. I might look & see if I can put that together.

Chriss....I'm so happy for you!! That is a very safe car my DD2 has one. Color??? I remember the butterfly story....how wonderful. Have a great day....drive carefully!

Dolores....wonderful idea to make a quilt for your 50th. What pattern did you pick.

Well I'm off to dress then walk around & around the basement. I've picked some 'old' music to walk too. I'm not sure how to spell it. It's one long piece. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by the Iron Butterfly....anyone remember that one. it 18 min's long

Love & Prayers to all.......Kathy

Teresa - Hallmark always has such good movies and I can't wait to see the new Christmas ones. And the old ones, too. I just watch them over and over.

Suz - have fun at the lab. It's a necessary evil. Sorry your quilt patient isn't healing well. Oh, I see that you are already back. Chili sounds good. My DH would be thrilled if I'd make a pot.

Lois - I made a quilt from a line from Wilmington Prints. The fabric is just beautiful. I love working with fabrics from the same line - it just makes everything SO color co-ordinated.

Vicky - my DH and I are going to the New Balance store this weekend because I need new sneakers for the quilt show. Actually, if you wear the same sneakers a lot (which I do) you should get a new pair every 6 months. Sounds good to me so I do.

Velda - I'm so excited that you might make it to the quilt show. I'll PM you with my phone number and I also need to know if you and your DH would like to eat dinner downtown on Saturday evening with the rest of us. Our husbands come downtown to eat with us. It's fun. Y'all be careful on your drive south.

Sue - WOO HOO BOING BOING BOING BOING I can't stand it. I'm already sleepless from excitement. At this time next week we will be on the freeway headed into downtown. BOING BOING BOING

Tess - you have snow and I'm sitting in front of a fan. LOL

Chriss - congrats on your new car. I know you can do everything except sign the papers on line but there's just nothing like sitting across from a car salesman and looking him in the eye and telling him what you are willing to pay and not a cent more. If I don't get it I walk out. When I bought my last car I walked out and was getting in my car when the salesman came running out to get me - LOL. I love the haggle.

Dolores - what color and pattern are you using for your 50th anniversary quilt? I'm working on a Christmas quilt from a panel. It's just a kind of throw together one and not very well planned. I'm also working on a floral Lob Cabin with some hand applique - that's my "TV Work" quilt. And I've just finished a Sunflower Dresden Plate quilt but I'm doing something extra in the border which I might rip out if I don't like it - LOL. I need to start on a tote bag or two. My problem is this 40 hour per week job, laundry, and cooking. I'd get a lot done if I didn't get sidetracked with those little items.

One little week from today we'll be in the car on the freeway heading into Houston for the quilt show. Need I say more? BOING BOING BOING BOING BOING

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good Friday morning all,
I'm a little sluggish this morning so I am glad it is Friday. I'm still working on baby blankets - need to get those finished up and delivered to Victoria.

Tina - can't wait to hear on the arrival of baby!

Chriss - how exciting - a new car! Isn't it good to not have repair worries for awhile?

Cindyg - glad it was just a food problem with your pup.

Kathy - it is good to hear Kim's healing is progressing. It sounds like it will be a process.

Suzette - prayers as your surgery date approaches.

Have a wonderful weekend.

My quilt using the Wilmington fabric line is posted on this site under "El's Corner", then scroll down to "Quilts Thru the Seasons", then Pink Lemonade. I wish the picture was better because the fabrics are really much sharper and vivid than what it shows.

Judi - good luck and good stitching with those BC quilts. Is Ken cutting trees for firewood?

Lucie - congrats on the boys baptism. I'm sure the celebration will be great, short of money or not.

Good Morning Girls

I'm UP! It's a gorgeous day here, the sun is shining, I have the whole day off, it's pay day and I'm going to SEW today. What could be better!! But first, I'm here to catch up with y'all!

Teresa...Good for you!! Take a day off from all the busy-ness and relax! Curl up with a good book, put your feet up and enjoy! Everybody needs a day like that once in a while. Even tho I have a few things I need to get done today, I make sneak in a nap this afternoon myself!

Kathy... OMG... I do remember that song... Great song to walk to! You can really get a groove on with that one!

Chriss.. Congrats on the new car!! I have a 2003 Subaru Forester and I LOVE it. It's been a great car - only had the usual maintenance on it... new battery, new tires, new wheel bearings! Has 118 thous. miles on it now. I want a new one!!! What color? I was so proud of myself when I bought it, because I did it all by myself.. usually DEX was in charge of buying cars...

Dolores.... so what are your favorite colors in your Anniversary quilt? What size? Good idea to start now with your anniversary next year! It would take me that long too!

Suzette... glad you got those labs done and out of the way! Was thinking about making a big pot of chile here today too! It's the perfect weather for it! I make a huge batch and freeze containers of it--great to take to work for lunch!

Cindyg... BOING BOING BOING I know how excited you are to go to Houston!!! There's just a little Sewing and Quilting show here on Nov 8th.. nothing like Houston, but I'm BOINGing over getting a chance to go to that! Haven't been to it in ages and it's only 20 miles from my house this year... don't have to go to downtown Minneapolis any more!
Can't wait to see the pictures you WILL post after!! Doesn't it suck that working cuts into our sewing time?

Lucie... Happy Birthday to Drew! What a great idea to celebrate a birthday with a baptism.

Judi.... lots of dead tress here Ken could come and cut if you need more firewood!!! Any guess at how many BC quilts you'll be able to do?

Vicky... I checked out that link too! AMAZING! What a production that must have been to have all those real animals. I do wonder tho, why Noah had to bring to Mosquitos on board!

Tina... guess that baby isn't going to wait until November 5th!! Any minute now??? Do we know what it is? Can't wait to hear the good news. Sending prayers for an easy delivery and a happy healthy baby!

Sue... Would Love to see a picture of you and Cindy BOINGING together!!

Velda... sounds like you are just about ready to go! All packed and cleaned. Wishing you safe travels as you head south. Come January I'll be wishing I was there with you!

Well girls, the coffee is kicking in, so time for me to get up, get dressed, wash my face, and head down to the laundry room.... my hamper is over flowing! I'll sew while the washer is running. Need to see if I can get very far on the 2 quilts for the baby shower on Nov. 10th!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Good morning from frosty Kansas. I guess this is the end of my outside flowers as we had a heavy frost last night. We had a lonely little duck on the pond yesterday. I wonder if it was a scout for a larger group… I worked with DH yesterday cleaning up nails from where the shed burned down, then we went pecan picking up. The native pecans have been scavenged by the birds and squirrels, and now the paper shell ones are beginning to fall. We have to keep on top of them, or they disappear before we can get them.

Tina—hope everything will go smoothly when it starts! I’m sure she is ready.

Teresa—you are so busy! Mom made a neck pillow from a FQ of the first print (border) in the collection. She fully cut it, and I think the strips in each print section are about 6”, so does that help you with the flower size? It is stunning fabric.

Suzette—so sorry the lady is having difficulties. She will love having your quilt for hugs. Best wishes to you! Chili sounds delicious!

Lois—enjoy your day! It’s good to be back sewing again.

Vicky—hope you find the perfect shoes! Have fun this evening. The card making would be fun… guess I shouldn’t start another hobby…

Velda—I’m wishing for Texas weather… Safe travels to you!

Sue—BO-I-NG!!!

Tess—I’m so not ready for snow. Our frost is heavy enough.

Chriss—congratulations on your new vehicle! I used to always do all the vehicle buying for my late DH. I could drive a hard bargain. I’m like Cindy. I haven’t purchased a new vehicle since the internet haggling started. I think about your grandma when I see butterflies…

Dolores—what quilt are you making for your 50th? Colors? I’m working on the Chubby Chicks that Denise finished (see photos); I’m using 30s prints and making scrappy 30s 9-patch blocks instead of the pinwheels.

Judi—I’ve got to get laundry started here, too. I envy you your dinner plans.

Lucie—sounds like you had a perfect day yesterday. Cake and ice cream sounds like the perfect birthday/baptismal reception.

Kathy—I had that Iron Butterfly album back in the 60s or early 70s. Good music for walking. I also like Bob Seeger music for walking. Enjoy! I’m amazed you can quilt that late… my stitches would have been even more wonky… if I could have gotten the needle threaded…

Cindy—sounds like you are getting your priorities in line for the show—comfy feet! I feel your excitement from here.

Karlene—I made a bunch of blankets for my DD when they adopted an infant. I made some with “Taz” fabric, and my DGS slept with one till he was almost a teenager.

MaryQ—have a fun day today… more sewing than laundry! What colors are you making the Twin Sisters?

Have a great day, All! More pecan gathering for me… We will certainly not be bored this winter—lots of cracking and shelling to do.

Let the thread times roll!

Good morning!

Today is a me day! I hope!! Ethan is at his house playing with mommy today - but knowing my kids - they will be here sooner or later! LOL

Babysat last night the other little grands and my little Emma got sick - all over me - so it was an interesting time. At least the Cardinals won - it was a very good game to watch.

So I will be making that pillow sham and a pillow case for my neighbor - found the perfect red to go along with the crib sheet in my stash baskets - so it should be quick and easy to get done. I am going to look through my embroidery programs to see if I have a sock monkey that I could add along with the little boy's name.

Thanks for the info on Daylight savings time - I've got another week!

It is cloud and cloudy here - rain and snow in the forecast the beginning of next week.

Chriss - congrats on the new car! I am not looking forward to when I get the new Highlander. It keeps getting shoved back due to family needs - but my cars are running great - so I am not in a hurry.

Cindyg - BOING!!! One of these days - Houston is on the bucket list -

Well I need to get going and get some of the projects done around here - those new groovy boards are calling my name - I have eight patterns - greek keys, scallops, waves, zigzags, in different sizes.

Hugs
Jana
