Thursday 24 October

Post by Jules » Wed Oct 23, 2013 9:06 pm

Morning girls :) well I've woken again still with a streaming cold :( have to pop out this morning but then I will be home and in my studio sewing. I've almost finished crocheting the shawl Charley needs for Victorian day tomorrow, so that will also get done today :)

Suze - so glad you have a date for your surgery, will be praying into that for sure, nice you can get all your pre op stuff done early, saves a lot of mad rushing around just before surgery, hopefully this way you can head to your op relatively stress free xx

Vicky - sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday with your grands :)

I'm busy trying to keep the peace between DH and Charley at the mo, she is stressed with work, she has parent/teacher conferences all week and is feeling very tired and is also trying to get sorted for moving at the weekend...of course I realise this and and just let things ride, she's just blowing off steam and just needs someone to listen to her when she comes home but DH, he takes everything personally and keeps trying to tell her what she should do and then is offended when she disagrees......I've tried to tell him that she's very stressed and she doesn't want solutions, she's just blowing of steam (like he often does) but then he feels sorry for himself and thinks I'm taking sides and not supporting him and I try and tell him that we're older and we understand these things and know not to worry about them and we would've probably reacted the same way as charley when we were her age........I sometimes wonder who the grown up is out of them two!!!! I tell you, the amount of negotiating and peacekeeping I've been doing lately I reckon I could bring peace to the world LOL

Well I'd better get moving or DH will be moaning that I'm spending longer in bed than him and life's unfair, blah, blah, blah

Have a wonderful day everyone, praying for you all xxxx

Good morning Jules and those that follow.
I spent most of the afternoon in my studio yesterday. I got the top done for the breast cancer quilt I am making for my co- worker's daughter. I want to make the backing pieced and have pink on the back as well. I was looking at the pre surgical information from my dr and it tells me that I have to drop the films at the hospital. Ok fine, no problem. But, like most hospital complexes anywhere the hospital is BIG. So today I will hopefully hear from my doctor's office. I left them a message yesterday. Today after work I will work on the quilt top some more. I have two 6" wide strips to cut and sew on then the top is done. Well, I have to go find a warm jacket it is only 41 degrees outside. But, after all is fall. Have a great day everyone.
Jules - there must be something in the air. My son and hubby have been complaining to me about each other also. Nothing like being caught in the middle.

Good Morning,,,,33 here, frost is everywhere,,,I did manage to dig up my elephant ears from the garden and cut back a bunch of perrenials...I planted ther mumms,,,they may not survive but I plant them every year, Hot house mumms have a small chance of survival but I try. I have foound I cannot dig like I used to....not enough strength to get the shovel deep into the hard ground...We did have a few flurries last night,,,kind of sleet. Today will probably be a sewing day for me unless ken has other ideas. I don't feel like cleaning or windows today...My Wings got their butts handed to them last night by the Senators,,,bet they were singing "Oh Canada" last night, I actually turned it off when they were down 5 -1.
Well I need my decaf....and toast...this morning,,,Hope you all have a great day filled with fun stuff...XXXOOO

Good Morning Girls

Just a quick hello from me this morning, as it's time to get ready for work. I'm off tomorrow--YIPPEEEEEE--so I'll have time to catch up with everybody.

Had my "annual review" with the new boss yesterday and it went well--even got a raise! I was shocked! and happy of course. Won't make a huge difference in the pay check, since there's just more taxes taken out, but it is nice to be recognized! I'm liking the new boss! FINALLY somebody is doing something to change things for the better!

Jules... sorry your DH and Charley are butting heads... One thing I've learned over the years... never tell somebody what they SHOULD do! It just ticks them off.. instead go with "you could......" and give them options. It's a tough job being peace maker and can wear you down as well. Hope Charley can get all settled in her new home and job and be less stressed.

Suzette... Glad to hear the surgery is scheduled... Between now and Nov 22, will be give me lots of time for praying for all good results! Nov 22 is my Mom's birthday... I'll ask her to keep a watch over you from heaven as well!

Lois... what a great feeling to finish something!! It doesn't happen to me very often, maybe because I start so many things at the same time!

Judi.. Sorry your Wings lost. Do they ever play MN Wild this season? Maybe, if so, we'll have to make a small wager. A FQ to the winner. Not that I'm a hockey fan, but it would be fun to bet on a game!

So many more of you to catch up with from yesterday... but no time today! Better run for now, but I'll be back and be more chatty tomorrow!

In the meantime... wishing everyone a wonderful day

Good Sunny Morning.....

Cold here too, 35'. Thanks Judi for reminding me I bought some bulbs to plant. It's a home & sew day. Kim saw all 3 of her Dr's yesterday. Her wounds are doing very well. Of the 9 only 3 are being treated & covered.
The lumps underneath are still there & are painful. Her ankle is doing well, hurts a little when she walks. She is still on 3 pain med's. Thank you for all of your prayers.

Jules....sorry you caught in the middle between DH &DD. Soon she'll be all moved in. I know when conferences come around my bff gets very over worked & complains of the work load. It will all be over soon.

Suzette....good to hear you got your surgery date. I'm going to look for my extra soft sweater to hang out in today.

Lois....My heat is on today, our high well be in the mid 50's. I finished my SS's topper needs a label. She hasn't posted any hints...I can find. It not hard to shop for a quilter.

Vicky....enjoy the show!

Judi....your colder than me. Keep warm. I nee to pull the 2 tomato plants today. My flower boxes still look good so I'll leave them till the frost bites them,

Maryq......Happy you with a long weekend. Happier even more for a raise! Hope it's good enough for a FQ or two.
I'm off for more tea & a warm sweater.

Love & prayers...............Kathy

Jules - sorry about your cold. They are miserable. Your DD and DH acting up isn't helping. Sometimes we just have to be everyone's sounding board.

Suz - gosh, your surgery is still almost a month away. I don't guess you'll be fixing Thanksgiving dinner this year, right? I'm telling my age here but I remember the day that you were admitted into the hospital a couple of days before surgery and they did all the X-rays and blood work while you were in. It was less stressful that way - not so much running around.

Lois - sounds like you are ready to hit the door running as soon as your doctor says you can. You are getting things done though so that's a good thing. The good news is that you had a break and not a sprain which takes even longer to heal. Not that I'm talking from personal experience but that's just what I've always heard.

Vicky - Sight and Sound? Glad you enjoyed your day with Tia and the babies yesterday.

Grammie - I'd love to have a yard full of fall Mums but my DH refuses to plant them and my thumb is so brown it's almost black. I've tried keeping them in their pots but the either dry out or I over-water. I'm kinda getting use to the Houston teams being losers. Our Astros are so bad we call them the "Lastros" or the "Disastros". Our Texans have lost the last 4 football games....this after they said we were definite contenders for the super bowl this year. It was so much fun about 6 - 7 years ago when the Astros did really well and went to the World Series even if we did get out butt handed to us there. What a fun season that was.

Well, I'm at work blah blah blah. Next week at this time I'll be really bounding off the walls just waiting and thinking about the next day which is.....can you guess?.... the Houston Int'l. Quilt Festival. BOING BOING BOING I couldn't sleep last night thinking about it. I was still awake at 2:00. I bet I sleep good tonight as I have my pedicure during lunch today, a hair cut after work, and I have to go to the grocery store then go home and fix dinner and get the house ready for the cleaning lady to come tomorrow. Oh, and get the load of whites out of the dryer. I want to get all this done before 8:00 when Gray's Anatomy comes on. Whew.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good morning, good morning,
We also had some frost outside this morning. I hate to see Fall leave, and this one has been a beautiful one. I got some receiving blankets sewed up for baby girl and have some flannel blankets to sandwich together today. I'm working on an applique one for the baby that will take me awhile, but I have a 'standard' flannel blanket that I make as baby gifts, and Victoria and I have such different tastes, that I'm making up a bunch and I'll let her pick the one she likes.

Here is a funny for you: Why Men are not Secretaries -
Husband's note on refrigerator to wife:
"Someone from the Guyna Colleges called. They said the Pabst Beer is normal. I didn't know you liked beer."

Have a great day everyone,
Karlene

Morning Pals from the cabin in the woods. I guess summer is over. Getting new lights in the kitchen today. The older you get the more light you need. Going to Branson for the week end to winterize the camper there. Should be a pretty drive.
Hope everyone gets to do something quilty today. Hugs and prayers for all. Even if you don't need them today, I do them anyway!
