I am excited. Today I got the Sawtooth Star done and the Trip Around the World. Maybe tomorrow I can try the Chinese Coin. Mine are quite the hodgepodge of fabrics since I refuse to buy any! But it is fun to try and put things together. I did find out that my machine and 1/4 inch foot isn't very accurate and I need to sew a pretty big scant quarter inch in order for these blocks to come out even a little bit larger than 6 1/2 inches. They aren't perfect but I am really learning a lot and having fun!!!! I will try and figure out how to post pictures this weekend when I have more time.

I have a good collection of 1800 reproductions and the fabrics are from that. Many different designers but mostly Marcus Brothers, Windham and Joe Morton.

Will someone please measure the A block on the sawtooth star. My A block measures 2 1/8 in the book. When I finish the center it is 1/2 inch too small, at about 3 inches. So I'm going to try a 2 5/8 center and see if that works because I am not happy with the one I have. I don't like the color and the way it fits together. I don't know how you all got this to work for you?

Vicky I cut my Sawtooth Star center 2 1/2", but my seams may not be the same as yours. Our measurements may not be exactly the same, but their center square is too small. I have found another pattern that didn't work, but I'll let you know when it is posted...

I'm having such a hard time with my blocks. Out of the 6 only 1 came out right. I'm not having fun:< Thank goodness this is not a swap.

I have measured twice, three times, undo them like 2 to 3 times. They are still not coming out right. Why can't they have the measurements like El? (just venting):<

I'll try again tomorrow, been sewing all day. I'm tired.

Hopefully I'll have something to show tomorrow.

This has the correction to the blocks.
Wish I had this three days ago. I finally got a Sawtooth Star I'm happy with. (center was suppose to be cut 2 5/8)

Thank you Vicky! My blocks are not coming out perfectly the same size but I think close enough that I can sliver-trim some and stretch some others! LOL I appreciate the link to the corrections as I need all the help I can get!

In doing my blocks, I have discovered that you really must cut your template exact. The other measurements if you put your ruler on the template, are often actually a 16th cut and the book likely rounds off to an 1/8 cut. Keep trying, I think it will get easier. I am having similar problems.
