Wesignificant--As you know I have to stay ahead a bit in order to post pictures on time. I have found some of the patterns slightly off. I can't remember if Chinese Coin was one of them. I do remember it was the center square on one block. I have started piecing the main part of the block and then cutting whatever to fit. I am using scant 1/4 inch seams, and the 6 1/2 measurement is coming out much better. I had BIG time trouble with the "New York Beauty." When it is posted I will remind everyone how to deal with it. I've had problems with only 2 so far. We should be fine.. I am also using my Wonder Cut ruler for the 1/2 square triangles and they are coming out better. If you have some kind of the 1/2 square triangle ruler, I suggest using it instead of using the measurements in the book. Just because I can get more accurate sizes with my wonder cut. It may be I've used this ruler for sooo long, I'm used to the way it works. I love it, everything goes much faster. I sew two seams the then cut out a very accurate patch. If you have anymore trouble let us know, someone here will have the answer.

Shelly, those are wonderful! I used to just not like batiks but they are one of my favorites now.

OK....here's my story...some of you may have read my post earlier where I asked if the blocks were suppose to square up to 6 inches? LOL Well...guess why I asked....I squared up my first three blocks to 6 inches, thus cutting off the points of the stars. I don't know where my brain is. Anyway, I was about ready to throw in the towel but plugged along today and got all of them re-done (these are the FIRST three)and they measure just a tad over 6 1/2 inches..whew!!! I wish they came out bigger like Eleanor does hers sometimes and then you just square them up. Oh well, this is a very good learning experience for me as it is taking me out of my comfort zone. And...I paper pieced for the first time and really loved it!!! Now...I will try and start the second group tomorrow. I am having to do it in the evenings as the days are full with canning, cleaning up the garden, volunteering and golf:) Just thought I would check in!

Susie, I'm sorry you have to make your blocks again. You could cut the half square triangle measurements a little larger and then trim them to size like Eleanor does.
