Re: Monday, August 12
Good morning! The rain in Kansas is back on the plain… Yep, we woke up to rain this morning. Hopefully it will quit soon. DH’s boat keeps floating around the pond and riding lower in the water. It’s near the shore this morning, so maybe he will get it today and “beach” it.
I’m hoping to get to sew. For some reason yesterday I couldn’t get “with it” and did household chores, cooked, took a cantaloupe to DS1’s along with scraps and rinds for the chickens, then DS2 and DDIL came by and traded a sack of patty pan squash for a cantaloupe and stayed and visited. Today I will figure out what to do with all that squash… I’m thinking maybe some baked, stuffed squash for dinner… that takes care of two of them…
Our DGD who had the accident was over with his parents and quite interested in DH’s 50 Chevy pick up. He’s wanting to have it in top shape in four years so he can take his date to the prom in it. Talk about forward thinking and future planning… Too cute!!! He’s 13 now… They grow up too fast!
Congratulations MaryZ and Suzette!!!
MaryZ--we will miss you, too, if you can't get a signal to check in. Have a fun trip!!!
Judi—I hope your doctor will listen to you—when so many reviews/testimonials are not positive he needs to re-think his prescription.
Vicki—we thought we had our henhouse “buttoned up tight”, and found a raccoon in it. They had loosened the hardware cloth screen, lifted it up and crawled in through the window. At first look, you couldn’t tell it was loose. Hope you find the critter and the point of entry. I’m excited to see your trees! Enjoy your day with Lydia!
Lois—congratulations to your DD!!!
Jules—thanks so much for the quilt show “ticket” through your eyes!!! Wonderful quilts!!! Hope your week is quiet and sewing is on your agenda!
Cindy—an office makeover is nice although it is kind of a nuisance at the time. Enjoy your new brightness!
Chriss—good for Marilyn thinking of sales and not the full prices!
Karlene—have a pieceful applique day!!!
Suzette—after you were all psyched up for the mammo they cancelled… grrr! Oh well, at least you didn’t have to drive DH’s truck to the clinic and to work… Hope everything goes well for your cousin’s little girl!
I need to get busy here... rain means muddy floors so I think I'll try to get to my sewing room for a bit. I have pinwheels from El's Ellie Ann collection on my wall, and I'm going to make my setting sashings so the pinwheels will "float" across the quilt... or so I think in my mind...
Have a wonderful day! Let the thread times roll!!!

Good Morning Everyone!
Suzette - Congratulations on the ribbons!
Maryz - Congratulations on the ribbons! Have a safe trip! Prayers for your daughter.
Chriss - Marilyn is so lucky to have you. She is learning about shopping for the best price too! Prayers for the inspection to be the final one and this is finished soon thereafter.
Kathy - Glad Kim is doing better and you return home soon.
Judi - I was thinking of you yesterday when I used my brand new pressure canner for the first time. I read the directions, had my DH read them with me and we had a trial run with just a quart of water as suggested in the instruction booklet. It worked beautifully!! I am so excited. I had two batches, representing 30 lbs of tomatoes, and did them separately to be sure all was well. It was all fine. I now have 10 pint jars of spaghetti sauce. I will add ground turkey and probably some diced tomatoes when I open each jar. I froze the first batch a few weeks ago and it is fabulous. I really look forward to having this wonderful sauce throughout the winter.
Cindy - Hope the re-model goes smoothly and is done soon.
Vicky - Hope you have a great day quilting.
Jules - Glad you enjoyed the show.
Lori - Did you have lots of inquiries at the fair? Hope your time went well, I know you enjoy it. Congratulations to your President on the quilt.
I need to do some uglies. I am working on my Dresden Plate quilt. It is not all DP, it has embroidered baskets too. I set it on point and have some seams that are not cooperating with me. I think I will tackle it before I go tutor this morning.

Good morning!~
I will see how of much this I can type - Ethan is sitting here in my lap - having a cookie - so there might just be cookie crumbs on this message! LOL
I had an attack of vertigo late Saturday night - threw me for a loop and I spent all day Sunday, just doing nothing - I am much better today. Ethan and I will go down to babysit the other little ones this afternoon. Missed Church too.
I started to work on a Christmas Wall hanging and it has ten stars in it - well I should have listened to that small voice that told me to use El's method of star points - well I tried that pattern's way - so wrong! I went to the LQS on Saturday afternoon and got the fabric to replace what I had cut and then I got the star points all done. SO much better -Sarah wants me to make her points too!
Suzette - congrats to your daughter!
Maryz - you are probably on the road by now - have a safe trip and prayers for a new little one in your DD's life - girls are special - but at this point - any one is great! From a grandma of 5 boys! LOL
Sharona - moving is great - I did it after 36 years in the same house - it is a whole new adventure! Time to get rid of all the old and get the new pretties!
Well Ethan is chomping at the bit for me to play with him -
Have a great day
Hugs
Jana

Re: Monday, August 12
Good almost afternoon from warm, sunny, purrrfectly gorgeous SW. Pa.....Now how's that for a description?
Boy, are you gals busy, I can't keep up with you all.....
You know, any time I talk about this forum, I tell about the award winning quilters and how talented you all are and "by George" all these ribbons and awards are proving it.....You all are truly an inspiration.......
Chriss, Won't be long and all the aggravation will be over...A smile will make for a happier day and it will also make the others wonder what you've been up too......
With the talk of moving I think I'd like to give it a try..We've moved twice, 1st time from my family home with just a bedroom outfit into a 13 room house and then from that big house to a 5 room house right next door...So, my moving expertise hasn't been used...I did learn a lot from Kathy if that's counts....But, I really would like to give it a chance, preferably to that nice little house in Florida.....I have a feeling, this is where we'll be until they come to carry us out.....
Today is a sad, sad day...All my company is gone...Nicky and his mother left yesterday (he had band camp today) and Terry and DS, Stephan left this morning...I do have sheets on the line and tons of laundry left to do...But, we sure did accomplish a lot while they were here...The vanity, wainscoting, flooring, new fixtures are all done and now it just needs painted and a little wall papering (which I have to decide on the paper)...I kept asking Terry and the boys how they learned to do all that stuff..So proud of them....They did tell me they'd be back, wither for Thanksgiving or Christmas and for me to think up a new project....
Well, once again, I'd better scoot..That big white thing in the basement is calling my name, drats.....
Special prayers are being said for good reports from the doctors, new babys on the way and also being conceived and for all those who are just not feeling up to par....
You all have a good day......

Re: Monday, August 12
Hi, I try to read every day or two but too busy to post much. Just wanted to ask for prayers for my neighbor Virginia again. She is 82 and just left in an ambulance again for hosp.
I heard a car door slam, looked ou,t and saw the ambulance. Grabbed my shoes and ran next door. She is 82, Ken is 85 and they both were in jammies and looked pale and so fragile and helpless. Rod is at work so no car here so another neighbor, (91) is taking the hubby after he gets dressed. No family here, just kind neighbors.
Jules, I loved the tour of the quilt show thru your eyes. What a delightful and inspiring show. I would have spent hrs looking over each one. You sound "happy" again even tho you are so busy. May God bless your little family as it continues to change and grow and excel in life. Give Charley a big hug and congrats on all her accomplishments.
Suzette, Prayers for the little girl. May God guide the hands of the drs in surgery and may she receive complete recovery and a long life of happiness and good health.
Sorry about the truck!!!!! I used to have to drive a big one some days too. I often had to have my boss get it out of a tight parking spot or a snowbank in the partly cleared parking lot. Good thing I had a nice boss who just laughed and rolled his eyes and moved it.
Izzy, May God bless you for dealing with all those little kids. They don't make kids like they used to. LOL I so enjoy your posts about life on the farm.
Jana, How lucky Ethan is to have a grandma like you. Your posts always include him and I love that. You are such a busy lady, doing so much for others and being so active in the church too. God has indeed blessed your life with love and joy of others around you.
Carol, have fun with that pressure canner. I remember those from the farm as a kid. Grandma, mom and all the aunts canning everything in sight. Us kids had to help too but it was a group project filled with fun and laughter and good food in the winter months. Your DP sounds so pretty. Someday I will try one of those.
Delores, What kind of a tree did you plant so early in the morning? Glad your yard looks nice again.
FArmchick, More rain? Are you in that flood warning area? Looked bad on tv this am. Better catch that boat soon or build an ark? I so enjoy your posts about life on the farm, your delightful mom, and your busy but happy life. We are moving back to KCMO area sometime in fall or early winter. Someday, I hope to visit with you.
Karlene, I always forget something at the store. Have fun with those appliques. I had to put all my quilting stuff away when I had lots of company a few wks ago and just haven't drug it back out yet. Now we may be moving sooner than thought, so trying to start packing a little each day so no rush at the end. You have such a "fun" family, always busy with something. God bless you all in your daily life.
MaryZ, May God bless you in your travels. Have a great trip and enjoy life along the way. We will miss your happy posts but glad you get a little vacation. ps You could just ride in your jammies. My aunt left in a hurry one time and looked down and noticed she still had bedroom slippers on. Her nice walking shoes were still at home. Shopping trip ahead. LOL
Chriss, Prayers that the adoption is finalized soon. May God bless you as he already has, with a legal adoption of that delightful child, Marilyn. Love your posts about her. Give her a big hug. Her room is so cheerful and fun. She seems to be a very happy child enjoying the love and happiness of her new home.
CindyG, Sorry about the office mess. Maybe new surroundings will make the job go better.
Grammie, Prayers that things go well at the drs today. I have problems with so much meds and I get so tired of drs saying, oh most people don't get side effects. I happen to be in the 1% that gets all or most of them but drs don't believe you. May God bless you with better health so maybe you won't have to take so many meds someday.
Osteo is no fun. My hubby has that too, very badly.
Vicky, I smiled when I saw you were driving to Bath, NY. Rod's aunt and uncle used to run a lumber company there. His brother lived up there for a while too. Not sure where all the cousins are these days. May God bless your day and protect your chickens too. Your quilt sounds so pretty with all those burples, etc in it.
Lois, Congrats on your DD passing that test. When your kids do so great, that means they had a wonderful set of parents behind them too. May God be with her as she moves on into her chosen career in the medical field. You must be so proud of her.
Carole, Did I read somewhere that you are back home in AZ? I am still here but planning to move back to Midwest before march.
I am sure folks have posted since I started this book, but will send it before I lose it. I don't do this very often but hubby is at work and I needed a break today. Prayers and blessings on one and all today that God will provide for all your needs today and always.
I do try to read when I can but now starting to pack and sort etc so busy most days. Had house full of company for 5 days, 10 people to keep track of and feed. Only 5 stayed here but 3 kids......... Then no daycare and no summercamp for over a week so had DGS here most of last 2 wk. I am exhausted. Gotta scoot.
Love and hugs across the miles, Shirley Mae

Dorothy - now, would you really want to use your moving expertise if it meant leaving all your new upgrades before you get to fully enjoy them? Wow, that must have been a transition to go from 13 rooms down to 5!

Re: Monday, August 12
Hi everyone. I am home from work and totally wiped out. I have read everything from Saturday through today. Sending congratulations to the ones who entered quilts in the fairs, and the ribbons won. You all do such wonderful work.
I had company all weekend. Nephew and family drove up from Albuquerque Saturday. They stopped at Chaco Canyon on the way, so DH and I missed getting to share the experience of those ruins, but yesterday we went to the Mesa Verde Ruins with them and we all had a blast. Today their plans were to stop at the Aztec Ruins before making the trek back down to Albuquerque. I missed this one as I had to work.
Prayers will be said for all, especially those who are sick, and those who are traveling. I have a prayer Journal/diary that I write all the requests in and the specific needs.
Have a great afternoon/evening. Blessings to each of you.
