Good morning!

Lois - can't wait to see your owl. I'm also really liking Cedar Cove.

Mel - how nice that you're being the entertainment committee today! I have not watched that show - it looked intriguing. Your day at the beach sounds wonderful. My DSIL doesn't sew or have any hobbies, so I was in your club of not being able to sew.

Suzette - glad to hear she's doing better. How exciting to be entering your quilt - good luck! I have EQ7 and love it. I haven't used it as much as I'd like to.

Mary/Rose - I must have missed what you're making - it sounds very interesting. Have a great day at work.

Velda - hope your back feels better soon. Back pain is just awful.

Chriss - prayers being lifted for the next adoption hoop.

Vicky - sure hope your day isn't too crazy. There's no better place for our cares than in His hands.

Judi - congrats to both of you on your weight loss. How exciting to be going to a quilt show!

DS1 gave us a scare yesterday. I called him in the afternoon to see when he wanted to go to lunch for his b-day (which is Tuesday). He said he'd been in bed since Saturday evening - he got up from watching a movie and broke out into a cold sweat and chills, which continued unabated all night. He even tried taking a hot bath. With his heart issues, it's just so concerning. He said he almost called 911... Today, with NO COMPANY in the house, I will be starting on my Christmas blocks. YAY! Have a great day, my wonderful, beautiful quilty friends.

Good morning! It was another rainy night in Kansas… I don’t know how much we got, but it’s enough. I’d like to be able to bank it and order a withdrawal in a month or maybe half an inch a week… We had thunder and light show most of the night which made Tinker Bell very nervous.

I got no sewing done yesterday—spent all day in the kitchen. One of the things I did was make a zucchini crisp, and it turned out delicious! I think almost anyone could be fooled into thinking it was apple pie. Perhaps today I will get to my sewing room…

Judi—congratulations on the weight loss! It sure creeps back easily, doesn’t it. (sigh!) I need to get back on my program and not make zucchini crisp with “real” sugar! Oh, and stop making your bread! (hmmmm….)

Chriss—congratulations on having the school shopping finished!

Jules—I love your daisy picture… and, it’s at the beach!!! It’s perfect!!!

Sharona—hope your son takes care of himself!

Velda—so sorry about the back set with your back! I’m feeling your pain… literally!

Mel—good luck with entertaining your company. So sorry you don’t have more in common. My ex-SIL was like that. It was work when she visited. I agree about Susan Lucci—I’m her age… why don’t I look like she does??? Life’s not fair!!! I didn’t see that show advertised. We used to watch AMC on lunch hour while we quilted, x-stitched or crocheted when I worked. I’d go to the beach with you all!!!

I’m going to get more coffee and will try to get back here later on a break… Have a great Monday, and let the thread times roll!

Good Morning!

We've had a stray cat hanging around the last few days. She is a lynx point Siamese. a very sweet little girl. But I think a valuable cat. I'm sure she's someone's pet, so if she's here enough today, we'll try to get her to our vet to see if she's micro-chipped. (I hope she's not!) Our problem is our Riley does NOT approve! Also, construction is starting today on our road, and it will go on for a month. Should be fun trying to get out our driveway!

MEL - Where does your SIl live and what interests her? There's the WA St. Museum and Mus of Glass in Tacoma, Point Defiance Park & Zoo, (take a sandwich for a picnic with a view along 5-mi drive) tour Gig Harbor, or take her to Port Orchard, the real Cedar Cove, if she's a fan. Poulsbo is a neat Scandinavian town. Mt. St. Helens isn't far, nor is Mt. Rainier. Don't forget Seattle! Who doesn't want to see the Wall of ABC Gum off Pike Place Market! Or maybe she'd like to learn to sew . . . .;o) Have fun, whatever you do! - oh, and for a longer day trip, Leavenworth is fun!

SUZ - I wish you much luck on your quilt at the fair!! What colors are you using for your pinwheel quilt?

CHRISS - you know you have my prayers for anything you need! Great school shopping trip! When I was a kid, school shopping was only sox, undies, and shoes as we wore uniforms. Which actually, I liked!

JULES - I love your picture! and the afghan you put under it certainly goes well with it!

MARY R - you really got a lot done on that DWR! It is so pretty!!

VELDA - so sorry about your back. Have you been to a doctor or chiropractor? About 5 yrs ago I started getting monthly massages and he really helps my back (old car accident injury). But what helps my back the most is when my neighbor does Reike healing work on it. It sounds new-agey, but she works wonders!

VICKY - have a good day, whatever you do..

JUDI - Have great fun at the quilt show! congrats on the weight loss! Are you not even baking bread? When we get serious here, we eat no white food. and there goes our bread. I love bread. Sigh.

SHARONA - So sorry to hear your son isn't feeling well. How is he today? If he's still that sick, he should probably see a doctor or at least a doc-in-the-box. If he doesn't need you today, hope your sewing plans pan out.

CHICKIE - your zucchini crisp sounds intriguing! so happy you finally got rain! We had a day of it ourselves. Very light though. After 35 days of no rain, it was gone pretty quickly!

Last night, I finally finished all the redwork embroidery for my next DD's Christmas quilt. Only took me 5 months of TV evenings! Now to wash all the blocks in a large bowl of cold water with a drop of Dawn and a Color Catcher. Do NOT believe that red Pearl Cotton that comes in a ball will not bleed. It bleeds very well!! And I let my quilt shop know it! They said it wouldn't.

also, I'm taking DH to the doc today to have a raised mole excised from his scalp, in back of his ear. Should be interesting . . . And we've been registering with several sheltie rescue groups. So if anyone has an extra sheltie they aren't using we can use him. Or her!

have a super day!

MaryZ - the pinwheels are white on white polka dot, and a flower print in nice bright colors. I am thinking that I won't put a border on it. Unless I need to make it a little bigger. We'll see

Good morning, good morning!
David's parents and our niece and nephew are leaving this morning and headed up to Niagara Falls. They will drive back home from there. I didn't find out till Sat. night that they were staying a day longer than DH had told me so I was trying to figure out another dinner, but my FIL took us all out for dinner last night so that took my kitchen off the hook.

I know it is really bad, but I'm so looking forward to having our house back. Both David and I are introverts and after having 4 extra people in the house, I feel such a need to get alone and recharge my battery! It is not so bad for David because it is his parents, but I know he feels the same way when we are with my parents. Isn't that funny that after 25 yrs of marriage, we still have our own comfort zone with our own families?! We like each other's parents, but neither of us are as comfortable with our in-laws as we are with our own parents!

Pat and Miriam - how are you all doing? Have you had to start thinking about pulling the boats out yet?

Chriss - prayers for the next round with the adoption people. My niece that was here is the same age as Marilyn! (She's a little bit taller than me!)

Maryz - that would be so strange to have to leave your quilts like that - it will be fun to hear how the judging goes. I'm sure there are several of us here that would be willing to go up and be cheerleaders for your quilts as the judges come around!

Kathy - that must be so frustrating to be in a 'hold pattern' with Kim. When will the decide what treatment they are going to do? Is her strange talk a result of medicine or the necropsy? She has really been through the ringer. So glad you have good neighbors around in your new home.

Mel - sorry you have another furlough day. Good to hear the boys could go to the reunion, but wish you could have been with them.

Well, I better see what needs getting done here. It should be a quiet week as the pastor is away this week. Hopefully it stays that way. Our new assoc. pastor will be coming in less than two weeks.

Onwards and upwards,
Karlene

Good Morning Girls

Just a quick hello from the me this morning to let you know that yes I am still alive, I think.

Worked the weekend and had great plans to stop at Joann on the way home Saturday night, but ended up at work for 12 hours (9-9) even tho we were supposed to be done at 5. Today is 6 in a row and I am SO ready for a day off tomorrow. SO much to do around here, the dust is getting thick, Mount Washmore is quite high and the floors are a little sticky. But I just may ignore all of it tomorrow and SEW all day....Must get those Christmas blocks finished! And tomorrow I'll spend a little time too getting the Secret Santa Swap organized a bit so I can make sure that I have everybody on my list!

Wish I could stay and chat and greet you all, but it's time for me to fly. With luck I'll get out of work on time tonight and maybe get a chance to stop at Joann on the way home, need to pick up some fusible and a couple other things.. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Hope you all have a most wonderful day

Lois - I just watched Cedar Cove for the first time last night. I set my DVR to record it from now on. I did like it. We had a great time at the quilt shops on Saturday. Vicki was not able to go with but Sue and I had fun. We got a little lost but, oh well, we managed to sniff our way to the cotton.

Mel - I never heard of "Devious Maids". Last time I saw Susan Lucci she looked like plastic. I'm a terrible hostess - I don't get up by the alarm clock on my days off and I don't naturally wake up before the butt crack of dawn so if my guests do they can help themselves to coffee, the TV, the sewing room, magazines, etc. and wait for me to wake up. Good thing I don't have much company, huh?

Suz - girl, you sure must be excited about entering your quilt. I do with you luck and I hope you place. I don't have EQ7 - don't want one - if I had one I'd be playing on the computer and never get any quilting done. Between this forum and e.mail I spend quite enough time on the computer.

MaryRosebud - will that be the last row on your wedding ring quilt? Have a quick day at work today.

Velda - I'm so sorry about that pinched nerve. Pain is no fun and it keeps us from doing what we want to do.

Chriss- it's work for me today, too. Darn it! I'm glad to got to sew over the weekend.

Vicky - boy, you sure breezed thru here fast! I have days like that, too, where staying on the computer for very long is out of the question.

Judi - congrats on the weight loss. A campfire - UGH - I can't even think about a campfire as it barely gets down to 85* in the middle of the night. And you open up your windows....must be nice. We'd swelter! Oh, you're going to a quilt show!!! How fun!!! BOING BOING BOING.

Sharona - that is scary about your son. Does he know what was causing the cold sweat and chills?

Chickie - when I use to work with an office full of women, we would crochet or do needle work during out lunch hour, too. We weren't allowed a TV. Sometimes I bring something here to work on at lunch but not often. I usually read e.mail, come here to the forum, look at quilt pix or work a jigsaw puzzle online.

Well, Saturday Sue and I went on our little F.A.R.T. It was fun. Our men went to the 221 Featherweight maintenance class w/Nova Montgomery on Saturday. We actually got about 20 minutes of rain on Saturday evening - what a surprise!!! Yesterday I did a little laundry and did some sewing. Last night I finished up the binding on the charity quilt. Must wash it tonight so it will be ready to take to guild tomorrow night. After work today I MUST go to the grocery store. ***sigh*** might not be any sewing at my house tonight.

I hope you can all fondle fabric today.
