Sylvia's Bridal Sampler- -SEW-A-LONG

Post by Tess » Sat Aug 03, 2013 7:40 am

Everyone is invited to join the Sylvia Bridal Sampler Sew-a-Long.
We will start our quilt September 1. You still have time to decide fabric and color. There isn't any swapping, mailing, or postage. This quilt is for YOU.

You will need the book "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler from Elm Creek Quilts. The author is Jennifer Chiaverini.

We will make 3 blocks per week. Selected blocks will be posted (hopefully) every Sunday.

Please share any suggestions you might have with us.

This will be your quilt--you have the option of color, embellishments, choice of which method of applique, hand or machine piecing, how you do your paper piecing and etc...

Post the colors and fabrics you plan to use.
When the blocks are completed each week, please share pictures.

The ONLY rule is to have fun and enjoy sewing together.

Sign me up. Better go figure out what I did with the book. I am going to try and keep up but don't wait for me if I fall behind.

I will be doing mine a little differently than the way the book has it. Looking at a smaller block and smaller quilt. i am thinking about putting it together wth a light fabric background, and on point.

Izzy-I will be making mine completely scrappy too. I'm using small pieces of different creams for the background. Right now I plan to use shades of pinks, blues, greens, and yellows. If I run short of anything I will go stash diving again, and then I may not be able to stick with these colors. I'm determined to make this quilt completely from my scraps. By this I mean small pieces in my stash, not yardage.

I'm thinking of a pieced border or maybe a scalloped border. I want color around the quilt, but not just wide borders. We'll see as we get some blocks made. Redtop
