Thursday, August 1st
Good morning everyone.
It is wet and soggy here right now. I got all the threads trimmed off the back of the Quilts of Honor quilt. Now I just need to iron it. I have been plugging away on the Christmas Swap blocks as well. Tomorrow I have to get my uglies done because Saturday I am taking two of hubby's great nieces school shopping. The state of Virginia is having a tax free weekend. Hubby and his sister are going to spend the day together. They both need it. Their 2 brothers passed away within 5 months of each other last year. This will be good for them. After I get my uglies done then I will go out to my studio and get more blocks done. Have a great day.

Re: Thursday, August 1st
Good morning, I'm up early this morning.
I want to get my day started. I washed all my bright fat quarters yesterday and last night I started ironing them. I got all the pinks, yellow and oranges done, today I get to do the blues, greens and purples
They are all so pretty piled up in color families.
So yesterday Emily asked me what I was making with all the brights.... and just as I thought she had a negative reaction. Then she said you mean to tell me your making that quilt (Sylvia's Bridal Sampler) and not giving it to me????? You see I had bought the book because she had said she wanted it for a wedding quilt, then changed her mind and now wants a Radiant Star. So I asked her if she wanted it and she said no not in those colors.... Well, I'm making it in black and brights and I'm making it to put in a quilt show. I have never entered a quilt in a quilt show because I give them all away! This one is for me (although I would have given it to her if she said she wanted it) I am not too sure why she thinks she needs me to make her another quilt, I made her the Shakespeare in the Park. When (if) she gets married I will make her one then.
Jovanna liked her little quilt, I gave it to her yesterday and she took it in for her nap
We had a good visit yesterday. Shannon couldn't make it down, They bought a 24 acres homestead
and they are getting their house they live in now ready to put on the market. I am so happy for them, this is their dream. My grandson wants to pack up and move TODAY! They have a beautiful house but they live in a housing development and they really don't like it there.
Well, I guess before I write a book I need to go.
Have a great day,
Keep looking up!
Vicky

Re: Thursday, August 1st
Congrats Vicky on 26 years thats a rarity anymore:)) I hope he spoils you rotten:))
Seems like everyone is busy sewing today. I plan to do some also. Mom had wanted pillow shams to match her quilt well last week I googled the fabric to find it and Missouri star had the layer cake and a jelly roll so I got both:)) Goint to make two pillow shams today for her. Hopefully I can get them done before hair appt at 1. girls day out today to DD and me. Just got her showered and dressed so she is ready for an outing with mom:)
Oh I am exhausted what a night we had a strange car drive up our drive at 2 am. DH scared the boys when he cut them off whith 4wheeler as they were leaveing. To come up my drive you are either totally lost or looking for trouble. Our lane is 3/4 mile and dead ends at our house back in woods. It has a road sign but people around here know its not a road. Well dogs were up all night after that and barking. Oh the 2 boys said they were looking for a girl. We got their plate number and car type just in case.
Work oh me oh my I am not even ready for the getting up at 6 and going in until 330 YUK. Tomorrow is open house and the Monday is opening day teachers and then kids start wed. Busy busy....
Well off to get DD bfast and me more coffee.::)
Kathy I hope your daughter had a good nights rest and hope Drs will soon fix the issue.
Your still in my prayers.
God Bless ladies
Izzy

Re: Thursday, August 1st
Good morning...
Kathy, I am sorry that DD is in pain... I'm still praying for her... I didn't know that rulers wore over time...I will need to check that out.
Maryz.. hope your designed block goes well... I have thought of trying needle turn applique, but I need to finish what I have first...hope yours turns out great.
Cindyg.. I feel like my vacation went slowly, this week is going fast...I thought of shelf liners for the book cases.. we will see...Hope Vicky plays with you and Sue this weekend..
Karlene..thanks for the link.. and fyi.. I have the feet of a Roman...not too sure how I feel about that but it's good to know...lol
Chickie... I just bought Jerry a swiffer wet jet.. he can use that when he does the floors...it was on clearance at home depot.... neat club house out of ladders and tarps.. you had a cool grandpa.
Jana... thanks for the shelf info.. between what you and Karlene showed me I am thinking white contact paper with sponge or stamp art in hot pink and neon yellow...hope your quilt book flies...
O'Dorothy, glad Jim is starting with the smallest room in the house.. I think he should work his way up till he finishes them all... and with Nicky coming he won't need a ladder...will Nicky's mom be coming too?
Joanne, It is so so great to see you...I will look into the paint, it may be easier than shelf paper...these shelves were a kit.. Maybe I should have gotten the pieces and parts from home depot and built my own...I will take a picture, we are almost there.. Jerry is painting the neon yellow trim for the space between the wall and ceiling and I need to do the boa on the tv after work today...then there will only be some minor touch ups.
Izzy, I so agree with you about the rewarding kids to do things... we had to take parenting classes so we can adopt our granddaughter and it was all about the kids feelings and their not taking responsiblity for their actions.. no consequences leads to an untamed society... sadly these kids are the future of this country....parents today are so involved with themselves they shouldn't even have kids... Jerry said he would be there to paint, he will have to bring Marilyn and would like a cobbler for dessert..lol
Carol.. happy quilt class....
Suzette, want a third girl to take school shopping? I am dreading it... Marilyn has so many ideas about clothes... hopefully she and I can see eye to eye on it all..
Vicky.. happy anniversary... has Emily even been dating? her mind will change so many times before she decides on a wedding quilt.. I think it's exciting for you to enter a quilt show.. you should name your quilt "this one is mine"
for me it's work.. then I take my sis grocery shopping...then come home and put a boa on a tv...
hope you all have a great day,
Chriss

Re: Thursday, August 1st
Good Morning Everyone!
In about 8 hours I will be in class with Debbie Caffrey at the Long Beach Convention Center. BOING!! My gear bag is packed. They have sewing machines there so I don't bring my own. It makes life much easier although you don't know what kind of machine you will be using. Before I leave I have a yoga class and there is a bunch of tomatoes that need something done to them. When staying home there is always something that needs to be done, even when you have fun plans!!
Suzette - Glad to hear your DH and sister are spending time together. Enjoy the shopping!
Lois - Hope work goes smoothly!
Vicky - Happy Anniversary!
To all those that follow, enjoy your day!

Suz - how brave of you to take two nieces shopping - LOL. That depends on how old they are, right? I hope your DH and his sister have a great visit. Sad to lose two loved ones so close together.
Lois - I'm so sorry we have to work today. I also have things to take care of this evening....my cleaning lady is coming tomorrow so I have to get the house ready and a huge load of whites out of the clothes dryer before I can sew.
Vicky - ohhhh lucky Emily. She has that Shakespeare in the Park quilt. I should be getting my book today in the mail. I can't wait. Your quilt with the brights on black will be stunning, I'm sure. Congrats to Shannon on getting their dream home. And happy anniversary to you. Enjoy your dinner at Panera Bread.
Last night I got the binding glued down and started stitching the back down by hand. That is all my news. How exciting is that???
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Chriss - a third grade girl should be fun to take shopping. When they get in middle school and high school..not so much - LOL. My youngest DD was a darling to take shopping but my oldest one had a champaigne taste on a beer budget. We went round and round. You are so sweet to take your sis grocery shopping. I need some of Jerry to rub off on Don so he'll get motivated to paint.
Carole - have fun today - BOING BOING BOING!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm already geared up for the Houston show. I registered and paid for my class and got a confirmation. Now I just have to wait for 3 months - LOL.
