Thank you Chriss! It was a good day; nothing special but a good time to remember all that God has done for me.

With Marilyn's bookcases, I found several tutorials on painting laminate that involved 8 steps and lots of sandpaper, but then I found this one - maybe it will help?
http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2010/04 ... -laminate/

I've also heard about adhesive fabric (I've thought about using that on my peeling wallpaper in the kitchen that David says can not be stripped, re-wallpapered over or painted without replacing the drywall)
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/how-to- ... ic-w-74483

Kathy - I am so sorry about Kim. Praying for wisdom for the doctors and peace for you.

I got the sofas and the bathrooms cleaned and just have to put away fabric tonight and clean the kitchen, then that just leaves making up the bed in the spare room, but David is still painting trim up there so I'm saving that till last.

Here is a silly for the day: I saw this chart the other night that says you can tell your ancestral origins by the way your toes line up. So David and I are looking at our toes and we-re both one type of foot, then Elizabeth looks at hers and she is a different type - we just started laughing at how did that happen!

Have a great day!

Good morning! It’s overcast and humid here but no rain in our forecast. I plan to stay inside today. Yesterday I cleaned floors, and I may wax them today. We’ll see…

Kathy—I am so sorry about your DD’s reaction to heparin! She (and you) certainly didn’t need this on top of all that she’s gone through! Hugs and prayers!!! Izzy sent me the recipe for the zucchini jam, and I made it with yellow squash. It tastes like pineapple jam and is yummy! The orange/carrot marmalade sounds cool, too! I love sneaking veggies in to things. I didn’t know the rulers will wear away although I did have an early ruler that got into pretty sad shape before it burned up. It probably was inaccurate.

Lois—have a super day! Goofing off is fun!!!

Suzette—enjoy your day off!!!

Mary-Rose—hope work goes by quickly!!!

Judi—the farm pictures were so cute!!! I miss my chickens… and the goats… I don’t know what I’d do with them now, but I still miss them!!! My great nephews had fun feeding apples to my pet cow. Isn’t it fun to watch their faces shine when the interact with the animals!!! A floor model Q-snap quilt frame makes a wonderful fort, castle or a puppet theater… ask me how I know… Enjoy the grands!!! My grandpa made us a clubhouse in the back yard using ladders and his tarps—too cool!!!

Sharona—cleaning never ends here. I love when kids use their imaginations! Good luck with your company! Are these “fun” people or just stick-in-the-mud folks?

Chriss—the bare floors are an ongoing cleaning job, but at least I know it’s not ground in to my carpets! I have the Magic Vine book and I so want to make it! Just need more time from weeding and floor care!!!

MaryZ—good luck with that last block!!! I’m amazed at what all you accomplish!!!

Cindy—where did this month go? I turned around, and it’s July 31… Are you caught back up at the office?

Karlene—you are busy, too! That’s funny about the toes!!! I think I’m kind of Greco-Roman, but little short toes…

I have to add nectar to the hummer feeders and make some more for the hungry little things. Have a great day! Let the thread times roll!

Good morning!

My class last night went beautifully! I had two students and they both got their stockings done - one had to stop early because she needed to do the name - a little baby named Constantine! Fit that on the top of a stocking! LOL - We figured out some ideas for her to do that. My next class is in October - I think that the two people last night will be in the next class as well.

Two Brooms Designs is Sarah's and my quilt pattern company. We have several quilts that she has designed and I make, that we want to market. We are slowly launching it. She is the brains and I am the braun! LOL

Not much going on here -- it is hopefully going to be a very quiet day - I want to get the tree wall hanging done today - I have just 5 small white on white squares to sew together and then all twelve of the blocks. The fabric that we ordered for the borders should be here in a day or so and then I can finish them totally.

Kathy - Kim is in my prayers - It always seems to me, that I am or my family is the one in 10,000 that get the side-effects - take time for you as well!

Chriss - One of the spray can paint company's has a paint that is made to go on plastic - it may work for the shelves - and now that I am thinking there is other brush on paints that cover formica too. You could always resort to covering it with white contact paper.

Judi - love the pics - it is great having the grands just live 15 minutes away - that is about how far mine are too.

Well need to go and get all my stuff from teaching out of the trunk of the car - that means a trip up and down the stairs again - unless I can convince DH to do it for me - snicker here!! LOL

Hugs

Good morning all. Just a quick pass thru to say "Howdy"!

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear the latest about Kim. You all will be in my prayers.

Judi, what precious pix of the grandbabies! Too cute.

Still busy here at work winding down the fiscal year. I'll be glad when the new one starts....hopefully, it will be without furloughs!

Sorry, gotta run for now. I miss you all....feels like I never get on here and chat anymore. You all are always in my thoughts and prayers, though.

Hugs,
Mel

Maryz - I'm glad you enjoyed the needle turn. It's very relaxing to me, too. On pieces that are large enough to turn easily I use El's method with the fusible interfacing and then hand applique it down.
That is when I remember to use that method - LOL.

Karlene - wow 8 steps to paint laminate. I figured it would have to be roughed up before painting it but 8 steps??? I'm gonna have to look up that toe thing - LOL.

Chickie - we use to have hummingbird feeders but we were never home and/or outside much to watch them so DH quit putting the red water in them.

For those of you who have asked about my BFF, Vicki - she is doing as well as can be expected. She's very busy with the two businesses so that helps to keep her mind occupied. Ed, along with my DH, Don and Sue's DH, Kenn had signed up for a class to be given by Nova Montgomery on maintenance of Singer 221 Featherweight sewing machines and it's in Huntsville, TX to it was to be a day trip for the 3 amigos. I notified Nova about Ed's passing and she sent his class fee back to Vicki along with a sympathy card - that was really nice of her. Anyway, this Saturday is the day of the class and the first time Don is doing something he and Ed planned without Ed. I'm so thankful Kenn will be there. Us girls had planned on doing something while our men were in Huntsville. Sue and I are still going to do something (we don't know exactly what yet) and Vicki still might go with us. She'll let me know later in the week. It's all so painful for her. Life goes on, time passes - she'll be fine.

Good early afternoon from a very, very pleasant SW. Pa...We are indeed having purrrrfect weather but I did hear there is a hint of rain in the forecast......

Kathy, my oh my, what next! I can imagine how you also are hurting and wishing you could trade places....Many prayers for Kim and also you....

Jana, that's so exciting to have published a book and especially if it's a quilt book...Doesn't get much better.....And then to teach, what joy.....

Chriss, with all the paints out there today, I'm sure you'll find the perfect one to cover up the brown....You would laugh at Jim these days....He gets more nervous every time I open my mouth about the bathroom.....This morning he was downstairs painting the little bathroom down there in case we need to use it...What a guy!
But, a friend sent me a Maxine funny.....
She calls her bathroom Jim instead of John...And that way, she can say, she visits the "Jim" 1st thing every morning.....Sounds good to me.......1 more day!

Judi, those pictures were priceless....What fun to watch the little ones...Our little ones are too far away and I sure do miss those days......

Well, my sewing room is now back to a bed room and all ready for some of the company...The furbabies can't understand why I took one of the litter pans and all their toys out of that room...They're also not going to be too happy when they see/hear the dogs that will be here....But, just one big happy family, I hope!

Today is the kitchen, cabinets, windows and clean curtains....You'd think we were entertaining the new Prince and his parents, the way I'm cleaning...Well, I guess you can say, Nicky is our prince.....

Has anyone been on Bing.com? Yesterday's picture was a dam in Hudson, N.York and today's picture is Multnomah Falls in Oregon....Absolutely gorgeous....Makes me want to travel!

Well, I best travel to the washer and get my curtains out on the line.....

You all have a great day..............

I went to Target today looking for more organizers for my studio. I ended up buying those hanging show organizers. I bought 2 for 7.99 each. They are perfect for the fat quarters and such that we buy. I had some fabrics that were dedicated to a certain project so I also have the quilt directions in the cubby with the fabric. This afternoon I have to trim threads on the back of the Quilts of Honor quilt and then iron it. I plan to drop it off on Saturday at the LQS. Have a great day

First of all, Kathy, you, your DD and her Drs. have my prayers...my goodness.

Judi...I will check out the pictures when I'm done here...those kids must be growing like weeds by now! Did I hear correctly?? The Dresden Plate quilt is for the little girl???

Chriss, if those brown book shelves are plastic, there is a spray paint for plastic outdoor stuff...that should work for shelving, too...I think I bought it at WalMart or Meiers. Don't forget to take pictures of Marilyn's room...can't wait to see it!

Maryz...just a note on needle-turn applique...I used a toothpick that I kept wet in my mouth to turn the "hem" under...works like a charm!!

Cindyg..."mamms grammed"...you crack me up!! lol!

Well, my back is killing me, so it's time to wrap this up! We'll be off to Mama's Grill for dinner here soon.

Prayers for everyone!

Joanne

Kathy will keep her and drs in our prayers. Sorry you are having to deal yet with another hospitalization with her.

Well had training today watched videos on student behaviors. HUMMMM am I an old folgy or what if these kids were raised like I was "spare the rod spoil the child" theory half the behaviors wouldnt exist but now I have to praise and reward them 4 times before the one correction. Really this is crazy no wonder the world is like it is:: what do I get without doing anything for it. Sorry had to vent LOL Hey Suzzette want to change jobs.:)

Then spent next 3 hours working on room. Boxes are unpacked wall decore is up and room looks pretty good. Now have to show up early friday to decorate door and I am done:))

Hey Chriss tell Jerry I am still on that waiting list for painting:))LOL He would have got a good chuckle seeing me yesterday only painted 4 bookshelves but looked like I rolled in the stuff Had it all over me still cant figure out how I did it either. Now you see why I need him LOL

Getting pampered tomorrow. DD and I are headed to beauty salon for haircuts and hilights:)) Gotta look young they hired a bunch of new teachers and I am feeling old they look like my own kids age LOL. I am the oldest now speech therapist since one retired last year. I told the young gals they can call me mom. LOL

Well going to make BLTS for dinner then off to church. REvelations study going on and its awesome:)

God Bless Ladies
