Hit a bit of a snag with the Log Cabin so I am switching to the Twin Sister Block using Fall colors. Hope this one works better for your stashes than the flowers did. We will be going back to the Log cabin early next year so you might want to keep watch on your shopping trips for flowers of this type. I saw some wonderful ones at Walmart and the fabric felt and looked wonderful.

* Block size: 5.5"+ unfinished blocks
* CUT 2.5" Strips of ANY Vibrant FALL Prints and Bold TOT's (the Green fabric in the video is a great example of a Bold TOT - pattern really shows)
* For every Medium Color you will need a Med/Dark Color (look for great contrasting sets to make each color stand out
* Metallics are OK BUT ... NO Checks, Glitters or Solids
* Please WASH all Fabrics
** Make a SAMPLE using a SCANT 1/4" Seam FIRST. Not much wiggle room on this one. The thickness of your thread makes a difference. I always give myself 1-2 FIBERS extra.
* PLEASE MEASURE to see that your blocks are 5.5"+ Unfinished BUT DO NOT SQUARE THEM UP
** Make sure you press with the 4-patch on the back - see video
*** PLEASE fold your "Name Tag" over the edge of each positive/negative set of blocks in the front corner. Mailing labels are great for this
* Please place ALL blocks in ONE LARGE BAGGIE

Well, I just watched the video you gave us. Funny, I just saw that program on TV just a few weeks ago. Sometimes, I actually save the program on my DVD. I wish that I would have saved this one. LOL

Anyway, I have a question for you. On the video. Eleanor used six different fabrics and cut four strips of each. But of course she is actually demonstrating a full quilt.

When you say three sets of four blocks. I want to know if one entry is going to be 12 blocks, six of positive and six of negative??

If we sew two strips together and cut them into four squares, we will get two blocks ( one with the positive and one with the negative)
Then you want us to keep those together with our name tags. Am I understanding the instructions correctly?? I am looking through my fabrics today.

Also: another question. Do you want to see the TOT as the dark or can the print fabric be dark and the TOT be the medium contrast? Mixing it up.

I am playing around with some of the fabrics I found and trying to see how many strips I can get from them. It's always fun to plan the colors and contrasts.

Pat - Sorry you are having trouble getting into the video. You can also go into QIAD's Video and click on Quilting through the seasons and then scroll down to Twin Sisters.

Velda - Great questions. 1 set equals 2 positive and 2 negative blocks (4 small blocks). When I organize I want to be able to keep the pos and neg together easily.

In the video the wallhanging is made up of 25 of the small blocks. So that would be 4 small blocks to a set x 6 sets with 1 extra. So you could follow her directions for the wallhanging and mail 6 sets plus 1 extra. Or you could mail me however many sets you would like tickets for to WIN. The blocks are small so I don't think you will have any trouble sending this many?? It will be so addicting you will probably have a hard time stopping

PLEASE YES MIX IT UP for a great contrast. I don't know that I would have used the dark blue in the video. They seem to really stand out but that would be my personal preference. I love a quilt that shows great contrast while blending all the blocks very nicely with each other. Please use your instincts of what you will enjoy making. All the quilts are FABulous when they are put together

I think I answered everything. Please SPREAD THE WORD and ask as many questions as needed to enjoy making the block.

I'm In for this month. I have 4 sets of light and dark made, I expect that before it is time to mail them, I will have made some more sets. I am looking through my fabrics and will be watching the sale shelf.
