Re: July, 19 Friday
Hi All,
Was is with it with the heat???? I am ready for fall for sure! I would take some rain first if possible. Of course the other side of the coin the rain comes then the humidity and it is miserable. Cindyg I don't know what I would do if we lost power yesterday afternoon I came into the sewing room was looking for something and even with the fans going it wasn't long till I was feeling ill. We don't have central heat/air this is a very old house not quite as old as I am tho lol....anyway each room is individually heated and cooled will DH was still taking his nap and had the A/C on in the bedroom since both bedrooms are on the same circuit can't run both A/C I have a few times but if they both kick on at same time it blows the breaker. So I don't. Its suppose to be back up in the triple digits next week.
Chriss,,,,,I looked at some pretty fabric but I have so much and my daughter has a lot from her shop that I just couldn't make myself buy anymore terrible isn't it???? I didn't really have a plan for quilt when I went there so couldn't find something that jumped out at me. I was looking for some panels that might work for some of my older ggdaughters for a quickie throw. But I found out my daughter is getting one ever it is to make her machine a computerized LA if I understood her txt right will check it out tomorrow also I told her about the red snappers or whatever they are called that Nancy has on her online shop for LA and she watch the video and is ordering them so maybe it won't be so hard for me to quilt. Hope hope hope
Gonna run gals sorry DH just came in and wants to claim the computer that is what I get for using the big computer. Will try to catch you all later this afternoon.
Hugs and have a gret day everyone try to stay cool!

Re: July, 19 Friday
Good early afternoon from hot, sunny, summery SW. Pa....I have a feeling we're setting a record for 90 degree days, that doesn't happen too often in these parts......
This morning we had a visit from the Comcast fellow...Our phones have been goofy lately and we thought they should be checked...I'm always amazed at these young fellows...They must take a special class on being nice....I almost had this fellow helping me with laundry....
And speaking of laundry, sheets are hanging on the line and the last load is in the dryer...I figure, get it done early and then do what I want, which just might be sewing....I keep telling Jim I'm going to the basement to work on a quilt but he's more or less taken over my area down there...Years ago, I had had a fellow chain saw a huge Leprechan (what kind of an Irish person am I, can't even spell it right)....But, this thing stands a good 5' tall and is very heavy...Normally, during the summer he sits in the back, guarding the porch and then in the winter he resides in the basement...Jim had painted him to actually look like a person and decided he needed a touch up...So there he is in the basement, in my space!
If I do get ambitious, I might paint the small porch tables but, we'll see.....
Chriss, Happy Vacation......I hope you have one of the "longest weeks" ever and you're able to do exactly what you want....I hope we get to see Marilyn's room when it's done...I'm going to have to dig out some pictures of our kid's rooms, just to show you what kind of a painter Jim used to be...You did see that, "used to be"...Now he just wants to paint leprechans......
Maryz and Kathy, I sure hope you get a nap in today..But, then if you nap, you might not be able to sleep tonight...Just can't win!
Well, time to get the sheets off the line....
You all have a great day.......

Re: July, 19 Friday
Good afternoon all. Been out of town so just got back home and thought I would check in. My best friends DD is in PA too and mentioned it was really hot there. She was in for visit last week.
Hot here but overcast; dark clouds looks like rain but probably nothing. We had lightning showers last night. Gotta pick beans today.
Gabriele are you German or just were stationed there. I am full blooded German. Was born in Schweinfurt. My Mutti and I still speak it me not as fluently as I once was. My Aunt calls daily she still lives in Swchweinfurt. I have a Brother who lives there also.
Take care and stay cool ladies. I need to get out to garden and pick those beans:))

Re: July, 19 Friday
Good afternoon! Checking in for a few minutes⌠I have two loads of laundry on the line, dishes from brunch cleaned up, and DH is off to the woods to cut down some cedar treesâall part of his quail habitat⌠I want to go work on my mending projectsâŚ
I donât see how DH can stand it outside. Itâs 96, feels like 98, and not real pleasant for working hard! Hanging laundry was enough! He would be stir crazy in the house, so I guess itâs good he can take the heat better than I do.
Scrappy Patâthe house that burned down had minimal AC as well. My sewing room was in the upstairs half-story that had a north/south breeze through a window on each end. I bought casement windows to put in there before we got married. Most of the time, with the shade trees, it was bearable. DH didnât really see the need for the expense, but I sure did and enjoyed them! I could âcatchâ breezes from other directions and direct them through my room, too. I think Cindy has some of the red snappers⌠someone here uses them!
Speaking of irons⌠I had left mine on for days at a time before I (1) started wearing a bracelet that I kept on the iron and put it on when I turned it on; took it off when I turned the iron off; (2) got an iron that shut off after 30 minutes; (3) had one circuit with the iron on it wired into the light switch for upstairs so when I shut off the light, off went the iron; and (now) I have the iron plugged into a cord with my cutting board lamp. I have to turn on the lamp to turn on the iron, so it reminds me to turn out the light/iron. My iron automatically shuts off/down, but this totally shuts it OFF. Can you tellâI need a LOT of help!!!
Veldaâyour grilled tenderloin sounds delicious!
KathyâHope youâve made it to the cool house!
Janaâstay cool!
Karleneâback in the 1700s and 1800s in the South, the âgenteelâ would take naps in the heat of the afternoon and get up late for dinner and activities. Remember âGone with the Windâ⌠Unfortunately, the members of the working classes had to work through the heat⌠Hope Victoria is keeping cool! I was pregnant in summer with no AC. The way I dealt with it was to pop my DD out in July when she wasnât due until September. At least I didnât have to be p.g. through August in Kansas!!! She was fine, just tiny, and spent some extra time in the hospital. YUM! Peaches and pears!!!
SharonaâAquariums are just so much fun!!! I never tire of getting to go to one!
MaryQâhappy pay day and Friday!!!
Cindyâyikes! With the power outage!!! When I lived in a small town, you could tell when everyone got home around 5:00 p.m. and turned on their ACs. We had daily brown-outs and the TV pictures shrank in from the edges. Now, the power companies have âpeak alertâ times. Dinner out is always a good thing!
Gabrieleâgood to hear your headache left! I canât imagine it being that cool in summer!
ChrissâAlmost time for vacation to begin!!! Have a wonderful long week!!!
JudiâGood luck with the dreaded zipper! Some days they work beautifully for me, and others⌠letâs just say ânot good at all!â Hope you do well! I need to find some more of those soil pellets! I used them years ago, and I made some neck coolers with them, too. They work!
VickyâI like your flatware! Iâve always liked the simple patterns. Sometimes itâs good to keep our mouths shut.
LoriâI sure like the cardinal vine! It grows almost a foot a day and has climbed the ladder DH set up for it! Thanks again!!!
I have my iced tea, and Iâm on my way to mend! We have some cloudsâhope it cools down some! Also have 30% chance for isolated storms tonight. At least 2â of rain would be most welcome!!! More would be great, too!
Have a super afternoon and evening!

Re: July, 19 Friday
I got my pulled pork done. and wow did it turn out nice.
I used my dutch oven to cook the tenderloin in with onion and garlic and salt and pepper. About 2 1/2hours on low on the burner plate that came with our grill. It was so tender that the meat just fell apart.
A lot of the water cooked away so there was just a nice brown juice left. I strained the chunks of onion out of it and pour it over the shredded meat with my barbeque sauce.
Now, all I have to do it heat it up for dinner tonight.
I will be using this recipe more often. Yummmmmmm!!!

I need a cleaning fairy. Living on farm you expect bugs OH how I hate them. Opened my pantry and saw a roach--wood roaches are bad here in woods. Needless to say me and a bucket of bleach water striped the pantry--was planning to can but oh no way that critter is staying in there. Then sprayed the pantry. Now on frenzy cleaning kitchen YUK I hate bugs. So beans are snapped and ready but I am still cleaning will have to put in fridge and do in morning. DD bday party tomorrow night no bugs invited LOL
so hot here too Chickie cant believe your DH is outside but mine too. He went over to our DS and is helping him wire barn. bugs kept me home:)
