Just a quick pass through before I have to go and get ready for work.

Today my DH will be watching over the GKids and that is ok but I do have to make Lunch.

I Hope Everyone Has A Great Day.

Good morning all.

Lois, hope your work day speeds by so you get home to the DGKs.

Today is my furlough day. It is also DH's furlough day. Our next few paychecks are going to suck! Oh well, this too shall pass. The one bright spot is that DGS gets to spend an extra night and day with us! According to him, swimming is on the "plan" for today! He is so funny. We will head out around eleven-ish. DH wants to go have lunch at Olive Garden or Applebees and then I will drop them at the gym to go swimming. I might just have to pass the time by doing a drive-by at JoAnns. They probably have my face on one of those "missing" posters! I haven't been there in forever.

Well, it is after 2 a.m. so I guess I better head off to bed. I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'll check back later.

Hugs,
Mel

Good morning...Wow...Where has this year gone? I can't believe it, we are already half way through July. Coffee is ready. Saturday I got all but 6 of the "footballs/melons" together for the DWR I'm working on.

Lois hope your workday goes by quickly so you can get back to spend time with the DGK's.

Mel, enjoy your day.

Now I have to finish getting ready for work. See you all later.

I couldn't sleep last night, my hubby went to bed before me and turned on the over head fan on high. I don't know why he does that, one he knows I can't reach it to down it down (or off) and two he knows it bothers my Fibromyalgia. So I ended up back on the couch and now I hurt all over...grrrr. Summer time is hard, it is SO hot and I can't take fans, we don't have air conditioning so we are at odds with what to do.

Going to be a HOT day today and I'm running here and there.

Have a good one.

Came home around 10 and I did finish my class work. today I will learn reverse applique with pintucked fabric...I mastered the double needle, now on to pintucked sewing. I bought the generic feet from Nancy's Notions and they work great on my babylock. I have a total of 20 different feet now. All the years of sewing and now I am using the feet to do different sewing never learned before....The feet were on sale. well I need to get moving,,,,have to go water the meighbors flowerpots today...they are on vacation.

Good Morning!

LOIS - sorry you have to work while the GK's are visiting.

MEL - glad you are finding a silver lining to the furlough thing. Our friend who came for dinner a few nights ago is also on furlough today. He works at Madigan. His wife is not happy! It's not only giving up 20% of their pay, but his pay was already cut by a significant percentage.

MARY ROSE - are you doing the DWR by hand or machine? How big is it going to be?

VICKY - so sorry about the fans. I'd have been poking my hubby awake to get up and turn it off. Hope you feel better today. Did you have a nice birthday? And how did Caleb do on his test?

JUDI - what a great day you had with family! and then an evening with friends. And look at you, learning all those new feet! Pretty soon you can hold a class and teach me! I only use about 5 of my feet.

I have a 7am appt with the oral surgeon and then I think the day is mine to spend as I wish. I'll do my walk, get sheets on the line, weed a flower bed, and go to the neighbor's to pick up garage sale leftovers from this weekend. After that, I have a date with 'Stitch", my Bernie!

Happy Monday!

Good morning... it's going to be a great day today..

Jana, where are you moving FIL to? hope all goes well.... glad your son is ok...

Chickie.. hope you had cake for me at the anniv. party...I have that Patrick Loose magazine, he has some great applique.. I think he puts out a magazine a year or more....I think I will try my hoop for hand quilting...but have to finish a few things before I can tackle it...

Jacquie.. glad you're happy.. sounds like a nice bike ride too...

O'Dorothy, do you eat breakfast on Sunday at the same place each time? we finally found a quick and good place for breakfast before church.. sorry about your zucchini plants.. ours are producing but very very slowly.. and it's almost like a hot fall here.. the leaves are turning brown in the oak trees and falling.. it's just odd.

Maryq.. glad all the packing is done and your sis can put that task behind her..you must have the most beautiful lawn ever..

Velda, happy anniversary....it would be nice if this week went fast, I am on vacation next week.. we can wish that next weeks goes slowly...I am a little scared to hand quilt but want to give it a whirl, and this quilt top is all hand sewn.. it's so beautiful so even if it takes me months to finish I will do it...

Lois.. what's for lunch? hope work goes quickly.

Mel, it's nice that you and DH get the same day off... and with it attached to a weekend also is nice.. hope DGS has a fun swim day...

MaryRose, I love the DWR.. and one day I will tackle it..please be sure to post a picture of yours.. it's one of my favorite quilts...I have more "want to do" projects than I have time...

Vicky.. sorry about the fan/fibro stuff... can you buy extra chain to lengthen the fan chain so you can reach it? or get a floor fan and aim it directly on DH... My DH and I have different ideas about hot and cold.. he uses a quilt at night and I have my feet sticking out of the covers to cool off...

Judi, I have quite a few feet for my machine.. and learned how they worked when I bought the machine but usually only use one foot... I need to move outside of my box I think.

Maryz.. enjoy your date with Stitch.. does he buy lunch?

today I have a dentist appt..going to have the top half of my teeth deep cleaned.. I had to re-cut my elf hats for the Christmas swap..I am just not happy with how the first set came out.. I am trying to make the pattern from a picture I saw and if this set doesn't come out I will be less than thrilled...

Next week we are on vacation.. spending a couple of days in Morro Bay... but nothing else exciting..

My son called me last night to ask how to make enchiladas.. I woke up to a picture in my e-mail of his accomplishment... I really think he could have made them without me but if feels good that he called...

for me it's breakfast and off to work.. the dentist appt is a little early so I will only work a partial day...

you all have a fun day,
Chriss

Good Morning Girls

Happy Monday.... I too am back to work today, already looking forward to Friday! The summer is going by so so fast.... Going to be a hot one in MN today High of 90*.... good thing I turned on the AC yesterday!

Had a good weekend at the cabin... my final trip. Brought home a lot of stuff--didn't really I had so much stuff left up there and now I just have to figure out where to put it all. Think some will go in a Goodwill box. Have a full set of Fiestaware dishes that were my folks and misc. knick knacks and more glasses than will fit in my cupboards, and a full set of silverware that I had actually bought for Jen about 10 years ago. Think I will ship that up to AK. Came home, unloaded the car, mowed the lawn, got my laundry and ironing done, and worked on ONE Christmas Block. Then it was time to crash on the couch. My room mate and I are in the middle of watching every episode of "Castle" so that's what I do at night. Finish knitting a little baby blanket when I watched last night.

Gabriele... I heard we had a "newbie".!!!! Welcome to the best group of quilters in the whole wide world! I've been here since 2007 and have had so much fun and learned so much from all these ladies--and gentlemen. Hope you can stop by often so we can all get to know you.

Chriss.... My lawn looks beautiful when I stand up on the deck and see it all GREEN, but when I get close and see that most of the green is weeds... it's not so beautiful. My neighbor cut down my dead tree for me--he's such a sweet heart. How neat your son called to ask you how to cook... my kids know better than to ask me!! LOL I can tell them how to open a can! Good thing my sons have wives who like to cook and have broadened their horizons--especially when it comes to vegetables! My youngest will now even eat PEAS!

Maryz... other than going to the DDS this morning, sounds like you have a perfect day ahead of you! How is your Bernie working? All fixed up and ready to "rumble"?

Mel... I hope Joann's welcomes you back with open arms. It's terrible that there's one so close to where I work...If I get out of work on time it's just too easy to stop there. Given a choice between Olive Garden and Applebees I'd take OG... love their salad!!! You can even buy a bottle of their dressing to take home.

MaryR... you're make a DWR? I would love to try one some day.... but only when I have LOTS of time to do it carefully. Maybe when I retire!

Judi...I have a bunch of extra feet for my Elna, but I have NO idea what they are for. Guess I should ready the manual that came with the machine. Funny thing is... it didn't come with a 1/4" foot! Love sewing with double needle, tho I have to figure out how to keep the thread from breaking.

OH darn... the clock has been ticking away and I don't have enough time to chat with y'all. Gotta hit the shower and get ready for work. The President of my bank called me on Friday and left a message on my cell phone, so I have to call him back this morning and see what's up! Maybe he will offer me a job and I can work 2 miles from home instead of 23! Tho that's probably not it. I think he wants me to buy more stock in the bank. HA HA, little does he know that I need all the $$ I have (not much) for buying fabric!

Hope y'all have a most wonderful day

Boy it is a Monday for sure. This morning I got a text message my niece sent out to several people about Wyatt. He is not doing well. His tumor has grown since May. His dad is taking him to Children's Hospital in PA for a second opinion. They are not doing anymore radiation or chemo. The radiation is causing him to be "slow" and lose eyesight in his right eye. All the technology we have as far as communications is wonderful. It has enabled all of us to become friends here. But, people do not call and talk to people much anymore. I just feel like a rug has been pulled out from under me today.
