Friday, June 28
Here I am in beautiful Vermont at the Vermont Quilt Festival. Two of my friends that are with me won ribbons in the show! We were all so happy tonight when we heard the news. We had classes today, and all enjoyed them. Tomorrow more classes, meetinhpg up with old friends, and enjoying the show. Saturday it's back home and another year at the show will be past. I just love this show!
Next I've got only a couple of weeks left to finish my quilt for the Maine show. I can hardly believe that July is almost here and that means half the year is gone!! I wish I could slow time down a bit as it seems to be moving faster and faster!
Time to try and get some sleep now since it's already after 1AM and I've got to be up at 6.
I hope you all have a great Friday.
Joan

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday I got the rest of the fabric for my Quilts of Honor quilt. So, now I can get it together. Plus I ordered some charm packs from a line of fabrics called Glamping. The prints on the fabric are of women camping. I have no idea what I am going to do with them. I could always make my old stand by the Tossed Nine Patch. But, that is down the road sometime. The news just said that Death Valley is predicted to be 129 degrees this weekend. WOW! I registered for my quilt retreat yesterday. But, I am not sure that I paid enough. I wanted to pay the whole amount and the lady I talked to told me that it was only 165.00 for both nights I will be there. I am going to give my payment time to get through from Paypal and I will check back with them. I am getting excited. Have a great day everyone.
Lori - I have to get the house cleaned cause part of hubby's family is coming over tomorrow. His sister moved up to our area and we are treating her to crabs at her favorite restaurant.
Lois - I'll have to check out that book. It sounds good.
Joan - congratulations to your friend on her win. It is exciting. Enjoy the show.

Good morning girls! I made it up early enough to have time to say hi. I'm ready for work, the trash is out, and a little time to spare.
How exciting Joan for you and your friends to win some of the ribbons at the quilt show.
Lori enjoy your time with your kids. What are you sewing on these days?
Lois your day sounds exciting (except for the fishing laundry).
Suz I hope the lady you talked to was right about the price. That is such a great deal if she was. I'm excited to see you QOV quilt.
When I get home from work the flowers are needing water, and more weeds need to be pulled. I'd better go now so I'm not late. Have a fabulous and blessed day everyone.

Re: Friday, June 28
Good Morning everyone saounds like you all hit the floor or bed running, I bought a bunch of Glamping fabric when it first hit the stores. I loved it at first site, I get a magazine called "Mary Jane's Farm". She is a countrified version of martha Stewart. Make everything and is totally organic. She is a farm girl and even has a section for city girls who want to be farmers like me. I love her magazine, I believe she first coined the "Glamping" movement, It started with gals fixing up vintage campers....small ones easily towed with cars or pickups and handled by women, the campers were really "foo-foo'd" up/ lace and ruffles and lots of vintage, We had a 15ft Frolic camper when our boys were little, These gals meet around the country in groups calling their trips "Glamping". They might even wear prom dresses and cowboyboots. (surely not me here though) I too am not sure what I will do with this fabric but it is so cute I had to have it. I wish I had my old camper here I would turn it into a "glamper" for sure just to have it. wwould make a cute sewing studio too.
well today it has cooled off a bit but the humidity and mosquitos are still really bad,,,,I will head to the grocery store and later pull some weeds,,,I am feeling a lit better now and hope to be back to normal SOON. still run out of energy easy.
Tomorrow morning at 6 head to the bus for the trip to Columbus for the NQA quilt show. I am excited.
Last night I made my first ever dresden plate. It is good but not great. But I like it. I am not sure how many I need but will use up the charm squares I have and see if i can find the yardage at the show....or something that matches. it will probably be a full size quilt. Always up fpr the adventure.
Well I smell coffee (decaf yuk) need to get dressed and start moving,,,eveyone have a great day....XXXOOO Thank you again for all the cards and Fqs.

Good morning and happy friday...
Chickie, you flower fairy stories must have been fun... my grandpa used to tell bed time stores about a little girl who lived in the woods.. that's all I remember about the story.... your yard is beautiful..we had a fridge that made crazy noises, we named her Sybil... have you seen that movie?
Cindy.. royal blue and yellow will be wonderful, is it a quilt or wall hanging?
Traci, I also love the D9P pattern.. my vote is for happy bright colors...
Izzy, I use a shape cut pro from June taylor.. it's a great ruler, has slits cut into it to make the charms.. it's pricy but if you have a coupon you can get a good deal...sometimes they are half off at Joann's...
Jana, I saw a cement patio that looked like slate.. it was solid cement and only painted to look that way, it was neat.. hope you post a picture of your finished rooms..
Velda, happy new camper day.. what fun,.... now to figure out where to put everything.. I love that part...
O'Dorothy, thankfully the young man raising chickens doesn't pick an angus bull for his next project...lol.. my scrappy is just going to be tied.. I had thought about doing a small amount of embroidery in the light colored squares, but not sure...
Mel, sorry about the furlough days but at least your day off won't be in the middle of the week and you will get a long weekend...
Sharona, the book you sent arrived, I have just started it.. thanks... hope the new hospital gets finished quickly...I hate going to big cities with all that traffic.
Joan, wish I were at a quilt show.. sounds fun,
Lori, when do the kids get there, bet you can' twait...
Lois.. you need to give DH a what for... he never came here with the potato salad, I think he ate it all himself... lol... hope you enjoy your weekend...
Suzette, exciting to get a bunch of fabric... I will have to check out the glamping fabric... have a great dinner out.
MaryRose, happy flower watering...
Izzy, glad you caught up on your sleep.
Judi, the magazine looks neat.. congrats on your DP.. what fun... it will be a great quilt...
Kathy, I could use some sandals while you're out...hope you get to come home soon.
yesterday at work we had a bbq.. there was so much leftover that I brought some ribs home for dinner.. today, one of the employees is turning 60 and his brother is bringing in a bunch of food for lunch so I don't have to take my lunch again.. it's a good day...
I am off to work, hope you all have a groovy day.

Re: Friday, June 28
Good Morning!
CHICKIE - loved all your pictures! Now we need one of the whole house (both sides, mind you!) so those of us who have been there and place where all these gorgeous flower beds are in your yard! You have such a way with attractive arrangements of things. I would have never thought to put a ladder in my flower bed, but it looks so charming there!
IZZY - love the name Aurora. I actually know a woman in her 70's with that name.
JOAN - how exciting for you and your friends to see ribbons on their quilts!! Enjoy the rest of the show. (like you need to be told THAT! lol!) Good luck on your quilt in the Maine show.
LORI - How long will your kids be staying with you? are they driving or flying? And how nice that you have a little rest-up time between preparations and their arrival. When do they get there?
LOIS - So you are getting another "man-cation"? At least you get to sew. Might be more fun than a "girl-cation".
SUZ - I've seen the Glamping fabrics. They are cute. Are Quilts of Honor the same as Quilts of Valor? Will you have to take off work to go to your quilting retret?
MARY ROSE - nice to see you!! Wish you could quit work and stay home and play with us. Watering the yard hasnt' been a problem for us this past week. God has been doing a fine job.
VELDA - happy new home!! Know you're busy today, but we hope when you get time that we can see photos.
IZZY - I NEVER watch sad movies. Enough 'sad' in real life. I prefer comedies. Or even action flicks (who doesn't love Bruce Willis??), but never sad films. Glad your hubby is home. when you said he was in LA, I assumed Los Angeles, but then 'swamp people' made me think of the other LA.
JUDI - I saw a 'glamping' trailer last Sunday on the freeway! Thought of the fabric . . . I too, wish we had our old 1965 Jewel trailer to glam up. It had a lot in it for only 18 feet!
The rain has stopped and we will be shooting to the 80's and flirting with 90 this coming week. So I should get some more weeding done before the ground dries out again. But we'll see . . . Yesterday DH finished quilting the Summer Memories quilt from last year's swap. Then I put the binding on (by machine! and it didn't look totally awful!). and then I took photos. and then DH asked me why one block was different. I couldn't see it at first but then realized I forgot the sashing on one corner block!!! how could I do that? the blocks are on point so I guess I could, but really! who makes a mistake like that??? Mary Z. is who. So I simply appliqued it (and the cornerstone!) on by hand. Such a goof! But now it's done.
Today - weeding and and planning something to eat for tomorrow. My son and DIL are coming over for a while.
Hugs to all!
mary z
