Sorry for walking on a few of you.

MARY Q - sorry about the cabin. I know how I felt when we had to let my parents-in-law's cabin go. I bet it's worse for you. Hope you find your summer! Ours is pretty iffy here, too. But then it's better than most Junes are here.

PAT - oh, not the awning! On your house or your RV? We have awning de-flapperss but DH is so paranoid about damage that he says if it's windy enough to put the de-flappers on then it's too windy to have the awning out. So even in a slight breeze, in it comes! I hardly ever get to sit under my awning. Sigh.

KARLENE - sorry anyone has to go to the dentist for anything! But aren't we glad we have them, just the same. Good to hear your WM is bringing back fabric. Many of the stores are. and they are improving the quality. I've seen Walmart's carrying John Deere, Farmall, Thomas Kincade fabrics as well as other hard to find prints.

Good morning from HOT already Kansas!!! Yesterday I went to Pittsburg and took my DGS to the church camp departure—I even got a public hug from the way-too-cool 14-year-old!!! Then his little sister and I ran an errand to Home Depot, and made a trip to W-M for “kid” food for a week and some FABRIC—she wants to learn to sew garments while she is here!!! We got a pattern for a ruffly skirt and two batik fabrics—both have embroidery on them. Last night we got one cut out and two sides stitched. Today will be ruffles… She’s the one who made the little quilt over spring break.

Last evening we went to check cows and found two new calves—one a couple of days old, and one only a couple of hours old. It’s always fun!!!

If you don’t see much of me this week, you will know it’s “Fun with DGD Week”! Hopefully we will have photos of the skirts!

On the way to Pittsburg yesterday, I stopped in town and took Mom by a fish dinner with creamed new peas from our garden. She was quite happy (BIL does not cook fish as he is allergic), and she had me put out fresh nectar in her hummingbird feeder.

I don’t think I’ll be getting to my cabin swap blocks this week…

Yesterday we had a high here of 95 and are expecting more today. I had to water my flowers last evening. I am enjoying my California poppy blooms, plus my nasturtiums have started blooming! The coral bells have been blooming profusely, and the hummingbirds discovered them. I have a lantana that I saved from last year. I wasn’t sure it would do anything, but it’s beautiful! That bougainvillea with the hot pink and coral blooms is becoming spectacular. If I could find those colors for a quilt…

Hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Good morning!

A beautiful day here in the mountain west - but we are still hot - today is supposed to get to 101 - yesterday we tied the record for the day - 100. Later in the week we will cool off slightly. No humidity here - we were down to 4% yesterday. Not good for fire season, way too dry.

This afternoon is my time with the little girls from Church - we will start Journals. It is one of the requirements for them in earning an award. They have a book of suggested goals to work on and when they have completed them, they receive an award. It is a three year program and I do the last year with them.

The other day I ordered some fabric for another top that I am making - note the word top - still waiting to get them to the quilt stage - LOL The shop didn't have enough of the main piece - so I found one that will blend for the borders and ordered it yesterday. The pattern is in the new mag I got last week - the one with the Christmas pattern on the back. It is the yellow one with the applique of the red poppy - for those of you with that mag too. Can't wait to get started on that one.

Well time for me to get started around here - some uglies, dancing the Maytag Mambo and waltzing Mathilda -

Have a wonderful day!
Hugs
Jana

MaryZ - the job is fine. A t-shirt and jeans kinda job for sure. There is a young man that runs parts and he leaves something to be desired. I don't know how many different colleges he says he has been to. I don't listen a whole lot to him.

MaryQ - the Jacobs Ladder quilt is mine! Now I have 3 quilts that are mine.

Good afternoon from a very soggy, SW. Pa....We've had rain all day yesterday, all night and then again this morning...Just a minute ago, Mr. Sun showed his face but not sure if he'll stick around.....

Being I have to stay inside, I'm spending the day with my machine....Yesterday, I got into all the strips and started a scrappy top (as Jana said, top)....I've read, when you do scrappy, you just reach for the next strip and go with it...I find, I'm trying to match....But, it sure is a great way to use up those strips....

Jim keeps wondering through the house like a little boy lost...He's behind in his grass mowing and is itching to get out there...Everything is so green and the grass is growing as you look at it.....He did mention going to Home Depot and picking out a new bathroom vanity but I hate to have to put on shoes and change in to decent clothes....Maybe tomorrow.....He should know, if I go to HD, we'll come home with more than a vanity....I could spend the whole lottery winnings right there....Once again, dream on!

Tina, Hope you're feeling better today......

Chriss, I'd go with the sage green, one of my favorites...As Mary said, next to yellow, it would be purrrfect...Your bathroom sounds like it would help you wake up in the morning....Hey, nothing wrong with ketchup...As long as she doesn't put it on mashed potatoes....Hope it's Heinz!

Kathy, safe travels and best wishes for a quick recovery for your DD.....I can imagine it will seem strange staying with the ex...
You want to hear strange, my Kathy is now dating a fellow by the same name as her ex...AND to top it off, his ex wife's name was Kathy...I told her, she has to come up with a nickname or something.....

It's kind of a sad day in our neighborhood...I heard last night, the girl right next door is really in for some tough days...For 3 years, she's been fighting lung cancer and now, it's spread to her brain and they are starting her on radiation...Her DD just came from out of state to spend time with her.....This gal is only in her early 60s and has no much to live for....Just breaks my heart....

Well, I best get back to my strips.....

You all have a great day................................

Good afternoon everyone. Just stopping in for a quick note. Had to let you know my good news. Next month my DS that is in the Marine Corps and his family are coming home for a visit. I found out last night that my oldest DS that lives in Houston is flying in for a four day visit while they are here. I have never had my entire family home together at the same time since my grandsons were born. With my DS in the Corps I have learned to live with only parts of my family here at a time. (Hate to tell you Chrissy1, but you will soon learn that the Corps has to come first) This really proves that God answers prayers, because this is what I wanted especially since my DH is not well. I just wanted to share this with you my "quilting buddies". Well, better go and get some uglies done. have a good day all.

it is near 80, steamy and hot...DH finally furned the AC on. We will head to an early dinner with the kids and then to commencement. It is outside....in the football stadium. I managed to finish the dress except for the trim which DD accidently took home...If she brings it tonight I will sew it on tomorrow. It is a grograin ribbon trim around the bottom of the dress. Hope to find some little white patent leather shoes to go with it. PHEWW another thing off my list. Next to finish the star trek quilt. then back to the hexxies,,, off to dinner

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on much lately. I did finish the baby quilt just a few minutes ago :o) still needs to be quilted though. These 104* days are kicking my hiney! We have been the state high the last 2 days and going to be again today. Where oh where is our rain?! Rain Rain please come and stay! :o)
DD had interviews for 4 jobs yesterday, she didn't get any she told me earlier.
DH is going tomorrow to have a wisdom tooth pulled that broke and they are going to start fixing his 3 broken ones in the front.
Jazmyne's cupcake quilt is up next so I'll be away for awhile again. I hope you all have a wonderful day!
