Re: Friday, May 31st, 2013
Good morning!
A bright beautiful day here - not a cloud in sight and the temps are going to climb close to the 90's today! Ethan will have fun out on the deck today to play.
What is it with remote controls and little boys? Ethan will find one of ours and loves to push the buttons! He can confuse the satellite faster than anything!
Ethan is learning to drink out of a glass now and is a huge mooch! Anything you have to eat, is his too! Oh the fun!!
Not much here today - Stu is out early and I will get him - Stu is hacking down the weeds in the backyard for us. The neighbor to the north is balking at the price of the fence - so we are in limbo waiting for him to decide how he wants to proceed - we just want to get it done, don't want to drag out the construction phase.
Well time to feed everyone around here -
Have a wonderful time!
Hugs

Good Morning Girls
THE SUN IS SHINING!! OMG I thought I'd never see the sun again.. it's been so cloudy and rainy here since I got home! Looks to be a little bit breezy but the SUN is out! What a treat! Sure helps the disposition to see the clear skies and sun!
Working late shift today, so I have a little time to finally get caught up with everybody. Where DID the month of May go. When I think back over the last couple weeks I can't believe how fast it went. Seems like just yesterday I was sitting on the deck at Jen's looking out at the mountains.
Teresa... congrats on winning the Lotto blocks! I'll have to go back and check out what you have planned for June.. Not sure I'll even make into the sewing room this month.. so many chores to do around here.. only way I can sew is if it rains! And we've had enough rain! What happened you got all your pipes plugged? Hope it's all cleared up and now!
Cindyg.... will keep your BFF's DH in prayers today. Did you have a great time in Atlanta? You should see the pile of laundry waiting for me for tomorrow! I still haven't put my suit case away. My to-do list for the weekend is quite long!
Kathy... Insurance companies SUCK! They make all the rules about health care--which is so wrong! You have to stay at your EX's? Yikes... Hope your DD continues to improve once she's home.
Chriss.... what kind of open house did you go to? For quilting? At dinner hour with nothing to eat? Not even appetizers? that's just silly. How is Marilyn doing? Is school almost over for her? Any big plans to keep her busy over the summer? You have to try rhubarb! It's really great in pie or rhubarb "crisp" When we were kids we would just dunk a stick of it in a glass of sugar and eat it like that.
Judi...great to be back home isn't it. I loved being in Alaska, but there's nothing like sleeping in my own bed. If the winters weren't so nasty there I'd be tempted to move up there. Hope you can figure out your machine.
Lois.. enjoy your day off... if you get done cleaning your sewing room, you can come over the clean mine too! I washed some of the fabric I sent home from AK, but haven't gotten a chance to iron and fold it yet!. Maybe I should have taken more vacation days just to stay home and play!
Sharon...a house full of company? Enjoy! I suppose that means you won't get to sew for a little while. Your class sounds interesting, tho I don't know who David Taylor is.
Velda... my oldest is son is a bass fisherman too! "CPR" Catch, photo, release. He has a NITRO boat too. Weekends when he can he fishes with Brennen and has tried his hand at a tournament or two. His wife just bought a horse, so while she rides--he fishes!
Suzette... Have fun at the LQS. When I was in AK and went to a couple shops there, I noticed how expensive good quilt fabric is getting, but it didn't seem to be any higher there than here in MN. The good stuff is about $12.99/yd. So where I normally buy 2 yards, I held myself to only 1! Everything else is more expensive in AK, but they don't have sales tax. A pound of bacon is $5.00!
Mel.. oh my how can you stay up so late and still get up for work in the morning? I need all the beauty sleep I can get! You tube is addicting tho... I have sat for hours and watched quilting videos!
Hope your day goes quickly!
Jana.... The remote thing --- with boys of all ages! My son would constantly play with the remote and lose the back pieces that hold the batteries in! And he was 25! A gal I work with.. her 2 yr old son got a hold of the remote and accidently pressed all the right buttons to buy a "pay per view" movie!
Well, girls I better get in gear here, need to try to clean up a couple messes before I have to get ready for work. Would be a perfect day to stay home and mow the lawn or dust/clean inside... sure hope the weather stays nice for the weekend.
Hope you all have a great great day!

Time of mth where enough funds to go out, with my new laptop that fits in my purse weights a slice, and easier to carry around. Maybe it will create better opportunities to write more, if I can walk further to read msj. Must chose wi-fi centers due top budge.
On another note: all you 911 operators-police telecomms I was in strong contengiency in 87-88, training for CPIC-911 with numerous languages, experiences, maturity made other candidates, very frightened I be serious competition to them, which they tried to pin bureaucratie on my back, to eliminate me from competion, but the communication director was so so impressed by my strong computer savy that had to be very discreet in the process not to bring attention to my file for he wanted to hire me on the spot, as a candidate with huge potential. Unfortunately, my mohter was diagnosed with ALS and chose to remove myself from the dept not fight the job and concentrate on mother/fahter, could never returned... What a bumper, life takes you places you'll never know.

All we do these last few days is dry out our jackets, from the pouring rain...
Victoria long Wknd (20th) 50-60cm
May30-May31 pouring again, but summer is well to the dogs this yr?
Myself couldn't care less, since I'll be meeting with a sewing shop owner who invite me to teach about Xruler by Sept.

good Morning to Everyone!
The sun is shining....no storms last night. My tomatoes plants are doing great! just takes a little of "God's" rain to make things grow lot better than city water. :>)
The garage sale I was going to was cancelled but they called last night to say it was on for Sat. so tomorrow off to Wichita I go and also deliver the pillows that I had done for my friend, hopefully get to see the great grandchildren if they don't already have plans. Our friends intersection floods really bad that is why they cancelled the sale and he said it was half way up the drive.
Chriss, the last 2 Sat. had planned to work on my 5" charm block throw but grandson was helping with the Charity quilts he works faster than I do so I was having trouble with keeping up making backing and also piecing a lot of batting together that was given to me. Looks like I won't get to until next week sometime so I have my work cut out for me but first things first. The throw is for our house as I always keep some on the furniture since my dogs like to get on the furniture they think the throws are for them! Yesterday I worked on my sewing room but never quite got to the point of sewing. I just need a bigger room or get rid of stuff.
Velda.... I am not a fish eater so you can have my share!
Teresa...congrats on the Lotto winnings! I will have to try one of these days.
Suzette....That would be scary I would think have a plane crash into an apt building glad that no one was seriously hurt. Have a great time at the LQS!
Grammiequilts....I am anxious to hear how you like your veggies etc.
I need to do a few uglies as well.
Kathy.... O my goodness, I do hope you can get some help that is no fun! I don't understand how some people can get all and more help than they need and others can't get any. Prayers for your daughter and the family hope she does okay....you be careful don't hurt yourself.
Everyone have a great day! I need to get out of here and fix something for DH to eat then get started or my day will slip away again.
Prayers for all those in need.
ScrappyPat...............................Oh WOW got my SP name today just in time for my little trip to Wichita. :>)

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, SW. Pa...We, who just a few days ago, had the furnace on and using my electric blanket, now is thinking AC....We're to hit 90 today but we have a very nice breeze so it's a nice summer day......
I'm trying to get the house in order for my "special" guest...And we're also trying to get all the flowers planted and the rest of the beds mulched....We have orange blossom bushes growing in our empty lot and they are in full bloom and smelling so good, comes right in my dining room window....And speaking of tomatoes, I have one planted in a big planter and boy is it looking good....I always have a race with buddy, Ted, as to who will get the 1st ripe one....I think I'm winning, unless he has one hidden....
Chriss, yesterday at Home Depot, I did see a fellow running through the store, putting things in his buggy and having a heck of a good time....That store makes me feel good although it gives me way too many ideas, much to Jim's dismay......
What a bummer of an open house...That would have been a perfect opportunity for the school to make $$$$ by having a hot dog sale or bake sale...Just not thinking.....
Jim just brought home the mail and I got a new quilting magazine so that's it for me today......I have new cushions on the porch to park my butt and all I just have to refill my iced tea....Purrrrrfect afternoon!
You all have a great day

Good afternoon from Soggy Kansas! I am NOT complaining!!! We may be in for more storms this afternoon and evening. After tomorrow we are supposed to have dry weather.
Yesterday our DS3 and a friend came by with a 52 lb. catfish (flathead) and a bunch of smaller ones they caught on limb lines in one of the coves of Big Hill Lake. I am so ready for a yummy fish fry!!!
When we fish in our ponds, we usually get bass and crappie… mostly bass. They are fun! We release if we don’t get enough for dinner… if the fish are biting, then so are WE!!!
Chriss—Shelly got me the Sandra Dallas “Persian Pickle Club” book at a yard sale or thrift store for 25 cents. It’s an older book (about 15 years), and she got it for me knowing it was about a quilting group. It’s set in Kansas in the depression/dust bowl and was a good read!
MaryQ—most of the bacon here is almost $5 a pound, too! Hard to believe as pigs don’t bring much at market. One guy ended up PAYING more to sell them than the pigs brought about a year ago!
Kathy—hope everything goes well with your DD. Can she and her doctors petition her insurance company?
Irish—I got a couple of quilt magazines today, too… I am going to have to take a break with a cup of tea and sit on the deck with at least one of them…
DH went to town to work on a rental, and the dogs and I stayed home. I’m in the middle of laundry, and I need to make a cookie for one of the DGDs—birthday tomorrow!
Carol/Q7—it’s always good to hear from you!!!
We should hear about the quilt contest maybe tomorrow. My mom was asking me about it--if the winners were announced yet. I wish she might get an honorable mention.
Have a great day!!! Stay safe if you are in the storms’ paths! Hope you get some rain out West!!!

We had tornado warnings for us this afternoon. Loaded up and went to the community center safe room. All clear now. There is still a watch until midnight. We are getting a BUNCH of rain again.
I had a loaf of bread in the oven when we left. Fortunately we weren't gone long, and it's fine--no power outage so far!

Good evening,,,,we managed to scrouge up dinner with out going to the grocery dtore today...it has stormed and rained on and off all dsy. ken managed to get the grass cut it was tall. i cleaned the fridge and got all the laundry done.went and visitied the kiddies....we were all glad to see each other. lots of hugs and kisses,
I got my veggies, today we got an avacado, some white peaches, green peppers carrots, cucumbers, apples, tomatoes and bananas. 2 of each and a bunch for the carrots. It is neat to have them brought to the door...this company has offices in michigan. Ohio, Kansas, and Colorado. they have meat and dairy and groceries too but it can get a little pricey if you do all of it. So I do what I cannot get at the stores...I will change to every other week when the garden produces. I have a ton of strawberries not ripe yet but this will be my first year for them. it is very bad for mosquitos here and hard to get into the garden to weed and work. I hate the sprays but have no choice to weed and care for the garden. All this rain and the mosquitos are just aggressive here. I wear long sleeves and long pants and socks and a hat and try to only spray as needed and i get bit up anyway. Does anyone know why we have mosquitos????? Hope you all have a great night.xxxooo
