Prayer warriors, need your help. My friend just learned she has liver cancer. She is in the hospital now and they are running more tests. Please keep her and her family in your prayers as they start this difficult journey. Her name is Rachelle.

Thank you for your help.

Hugs and prayers for all,
Mel

My DH Rod needs your prayers tonight. WE went to the VA today to the dermatologist and they did 2 biopsies on his lip and side of his neck. They said it is definitely skin cancer, they just don't know how bad. He is so upset and very scared.

Most transplant patients like him are very susceptible to skin cancer. Unfortunately with all the lowered immune drugs transplant pts take, they don't fight cancer very well. He lost his spleen 18 months ago so that just adds more problems with lower even yet immunity.

He goes back next week to get the stitches out and possible surgery, depending on the biopsy results. He has other spots too, on his nose, forehead, and top of head but that will be treated later with Efudex. He had that treatment 3 yrs ago and it is very painful.

It is an ointment put on daily for 2 wks that causes severe burns on your face and neck. It kills only cancer cells, not good cells but kills lots that are so small don't even know they are there yet. They will crust over and finally peel off.

After 2 wks, he will change to a lotion that will replenish and heal the burned skin where the cancer was. It does work but he can't be in any direct sunlight or UV rays while using the Efudex treatment. He can go outside only with a very wide brimmed hat and all parts covered up as much as possible. It won't be easy. It wasn't last time. And they worry about infection too from the process.

A For Sale sign went up in our yard today too. Never expected to be fighting cancer and moving at same time. Hope this all works out and quickly. May be able to put off Efudex treatment for a few wks but not the surgery. Those look bad.

Again, thank you for any and all prayers for my family. May God bless each of you today as well and provide for all your needs. Sending hugs and Christian love across the miles. Shirley Mae and Rod too.

Please keep Rod in your prayers today. He has surgery at 1:30 pm today at the VA for skin cancer. Two really bad ones....one on lower lip and other on side of neck. One on neck is swollen at biopsy site and doesn't look good. Don't have Biopsy results back yet so don't know what kind of cancer we are looking at yet but they know these two have to go NOW. Others will be taken care of with a diff treatment with ointments and lotion later.

Please also keep my sister Marianne's BFF Sandy and her brother Carl in your prayers. They were in that tornado that hit Nebr fri. Hit the family farm and destroyed lots of out bldgs. Sandy was home alone, asleep when she heard a huge crash, jumped up and ran to basement.

It took the roof and part of huge machine shed off and slammed it into a tree right beside the house. If the tree hadn't been there, it would have taken the house and probably killed Sandy. Now she is having trouble coping with everything and crying a lot. She didn't get hurt, just really shook up. I have been thru several tornadoes and it leaves you shaken and having nightmares for a very long time.

Keeping all of you in our prayers today too. May God surround all of you with angels of support and bring you comfort, peace and hope in the midst of a world full of turmoil and hurting. God bless you all today and always. Love and hugs to you and yours today, Shirley Mae

Thank you for your prayers for Rod and I. Unfortunately, they didn't do surgery today so now we wait some more. The biopsy shows they are squalmous cells. They tend to be on the surface and grow more quickly but aren't as deadly as others if caught early. The problem they do cause is for transplant pts. The meds Rod has to take so he doesn't reject his liver, causes the cancer cells to grow and eventually spread to other parts of the body.

We drove all the way down to the VA and all they did was take the stitches out of the biopsy site and tell him they were referring him to an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist for consult and surgery. They do NOT do extensive surgery in the dermatology dept. At the VA waiting could be 6 months. WE won't be here that long, I hope.

Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers. Prayers for all of you hurting in some way today. May God provide for all your needs. Love and hugs across the miles, Shirley Mae

Prayers needed immediately. Rod just got a text msg from his sister. His nephew, Greg, (in his late 20's) just told her he has cancer. WE don't know what kind but they are checking to see if it has spread. He is in Tucson AZ working now. She is in New York. He is calling to talk to her right now and see what is going on. She lives not far from Vicky back there.

BBL Sorry we have such prayer needy family but thank you so much for your prayers for all of us today and always. God bless, Shirley Mae

Shirley Mae,
Prayers for your many requests. Some families just seem to attract more "needs" than others. Prayers for strength and peace for all concerned.
Continued prayers for everyone else here and blessings to all who come here to pray foe those of us in need.
I am doing well. I had a vision episode on 9/30 that lasted 24 hrs. Dr thinks I may have had a silent stroke (TIA). Having an x-ray of my carotid arteries tomorrow. Since then vision has been a bit better than before. Still feeling great and thinking positively.
Went to Disneyland on 9/27-28th. Rented a scooter on Fri. and it actually made me feel icky (extreme motion sickness). Sat DH bought me a walker with seat and I was able to walk the whole day! Much better. The only downer was on Sat. we waited for 2 hrs. for fireworks only to have them canceled. There was some electrical issues (possible fire) on the Matterhorn. Still it was wonderful.
Love and prayers to all.

Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts. I lost my former father in law this morning. Even though I was disowned by the rest of the Fischer family, Dad still loved me. Robbyn and Jim are having a hard time.

Walt Fischer was a great man. Former Marine. Lived to the wonderful age of 91. But he was tired, missed Mom and Marty. He was ready.

Thank you.

Deb
