I got all 24 flowers done and 18 of the bud done. I will finish them up today. I plan to sew them all on before I make the 120 leaves.
Today I am up to my MIL's. When I leave here I'm getting onion sets and seed potatoes for the garden. I have to get that planted, but it's been pretty cold here. We had frost the other night.
I hope you all have great day off.
Vicky

Happy Memorial Day everyone. The weather is crappy, but that is okay. I have DGS here with me, so all is good. We will probably go the the movies this afternoon. Not sure what we will see, so it will be a surprise!
DH worked all weekend outside. Got the lawn under control, pressure washed the humongo deck and front porch, and cleaned the outside furniture. I needed a nap after watching all of that! LOL I sure am glad he enjoys doing crap like that because I sure don't! Good thing that opposites attract, huh!
So far, on this long weekend, I have gotten ZERO sewing done. Oh well, the day is not over yet!
Well, just wanted to pop in and say hello. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I will check back later.
Hugs,
Mel

A quick good afternoon! DH, DS1, one of the DGDs and I went out early to put flowers on the family graves. We went to six different cemeteries in two counties! I picked peonies and coral bells to lay on the graves, and DS brought bouquets of wheat. We had a good time visiting and listening to DH tell tales of the various ancestors and who was who to whom… The flags at all the veterans’ graves were beautiful!
It’s overcast and windy here and once had a couple of drops of rain. DH went to town to mow a rental yard. This is the third day he has attempted it… He bought a new push mower last week and took it to mow. He had gone about ten feet and hit a stump bending his new blade. He came home and found it had sheared a pin holding on the blade. He straightened and sharpened the blade and fixed the pin. On top of it all, he had forgotten to take some cleaners and things to work in the house (yep, another fly-by-night, delinquent renter), then he got a ticket for not wearing his seat belt (his conscience wasn’t sitting in the front seat next to him nagging about the belt). It was NOT his best day! Next day, he went to town to finish mowing. He got home really quickly I thought. He hit the stumps again and bent the blade again. I keep telling him that he NEEDS a weed eater or a string trimmer on wheels… nope, can’t get him to purchase one! So… he’s off to town again to try it a third time… He’s lucky so far that he hasn’t bent the shaft or ruined the new mower completely! Men can be so stubborn, especially when they know the wife is right. Even his son told him “weed eater” when DH was relating his sad litany of mowing woes.
Sharona—did you see where that Sandra Dallas novel “Persian Pickle Club” is a movie? They are starting production on it—don’t know who is in it yet. Check out www.sandradallas.com in her June 2012 newsletter. There is another teaser at www.thepersianpickleclub.com I knew the book was older but was surprised to find it had been written 15 years ago!
Teresa—sounds like you had a fun birthday!!!
Deb—did your winds subside? They haven’t here… such is Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas!!!
Judi—sounds like my kind of vacation!!!
Velda—that is such a typical Memorial Weekend—lots of chilly, rainy weather. It definitely has been an odd spring.
MaryZ—what fun! A ferry ride—I got to do that from Bremerton to Seattle when I was there. Happy birthday to your DS!!!
Kathy—your yard is sounding beautiful!!!
Chriss—The card sounds delightful!!! How creative to glitter her shoes!!! Some of the girls at graduation were wearing glittered shoes as they walked across the stage. I hate those big ole tomato worms!!! UGH!!! We have 5 tomato plants, one cherry, one heirloom, and three that I can’t remember but are “slicing” tomatoes.
Jana—Enjoy your day of family!
Vicky—I really enjoy hearing your progress on the quilt!!!
Chrissy—you are way too busy for me!!! Best wishes to you and your family!!!
Mel—if you have good company, the weather is easily forgotten!
Joan—you were up late! Hope you finally got some sleep!!! I haven’t decided on dinner this evening yet. I guess I really should be figuring out what to make…
First, I think I’ll go work on my trillium blocks, then I’ll have the cabin blocks to make. Since I’ve been playing in the flowers, I have neglected my sewing room…
We just had a little, very short rain shower. It’s still overcast.
Thank you to all of our service personnel and our veterans and those who served and gave their all!

Hi Everyone,
Sounds like everyone is enjoying the holiday spending time with family, friends and eating. We went to see "42" at the movies this afternoon. It was a wonderful movie!! I highly recommend it.
Chriss - Our 4th kind is also Beefsteak. Great minds plant alike! Yesterday I did find a green worm and took it out and killed it. It wasn't really fat and too ugly, but I am sure it was a tomato worm. I will try to see if I can find them using your method. For me it has been a long year. I have worked a great deal so I am really looking forward to summer, therefore I am counting down. Usually teachers don't need subs after report cards are done this week unless they have a graduation in their family.
