Good morning!
Happiest of birthdays to Mela and Teresa! I'll have a piece of cake in your honor.
Teresa - I assume Rob will be home tonight? What a pain with the heavy batting - thanks for the heads up. It doesn't matter to me which kind of card I get - it's just nice to be remembered. Unless it's from DH - then he'd better get me a real card!!
Lori - loved your b-day greetings. Have a great day today.
Suzette - your tiles sound great! I'm going to have to check those out. Have fun with the Rolling Thunder today. Pity your quilter doesn't respond..
Judi - it's good to know that it's ok to keep a stash of jelly rolls - I was feeling guilty! I'm interested to see a picture of yours. Sorry the RW didn't win.
I need to go get ready for church. I wrenched my knee something awful yesterday whilst working outside - I'm going to get a brace for it at Walmart after church. And maybe run to JoAnne's. I'm almost done planting - YAY!!!! Have a beautiful and blessed Sunday. xoxo Sharona

Good Chilly, Chilly Morning...I trying not to say cold it's 40'....
I'm sure summer is going to slam us when it get here. In the mean time thank you Canada.
I had a very good time at the party yesterday. To me it was a lovely but unusual group of people. They were all about my age, real locals many knew each other since high school or were siblings. I'm talking 40 people!! No quilters but liked quilts.
HAPPY BITHDAY MEL & TERESA!!! Eat Cake!!! Have a wonderful day.
Teresa....when e=cards came out I sent them alot but always sent a real card. Besides fabric I have a thing for paper.
Suzette....your tiles sounds nice...I like the wood look.
Sherry....enjoy your race.
Velda...have a wonderful day.
Judi...don't laugh at me but I'm guessing the Red Wings are a hockey team. The hockey team here is all over the news here...lead story. Maybe they'll play in the final.
Sharona....sorry about your knee. Sounds like a sewing day for you.
Well I'm off to dress. I plan on sewing so I might have to turn the heat on today.
Love & Prayers....Kathy

Good morning all.. I have been a little busy this weekend...
Jodie, great news about your mom moving around more...
Teresa, happy birthday... I agree, I like the mail much better than the computer.. I often don't open anything sent to me on the computer...
Mel, happy birthday to you too...
sign ups for Secret Pal end in a few days, make sure your hints are updated or sign up if you'd like.
a while back someone suggested a swap of orphan quilt blocks.. is anyone interested? or another fill the box swap where notions and fq's and patterns and sewing things are sent from person to person and you take what you like and add what you want to send on to the next person..
let me know what you all think.
have a super day
Chriss

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEL & TERESA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you have the greatest of days do what ever you want to do!
Looks a little cloudy out today maybe I won't have to water.
#1DS & wife will be here soon so must not stay on to long need to get dressed! :>) Thought I'd write a line or two while I drink my coffee.
Not sure if I mentioned but my white Schnauzer had a Grand Mall Seizure last Sun. scared me to death. so far she hasn't had any more thank goodness. Took her to vet. they did a much of testing. So I decided that we would wait awhile to see if she has any more before starting her on meds.
My friend & I have some more charity quilts finished if I ever learn how to use this photo thing on here will try to post some pictures
I wanted to send a birthday card wish to Mel & Teresa but have not mastered the photobucket thing.
Chriss I would be interested in the orphan block.
Take care have a great day!

Good morning, All, and Happy Birthday to Mel and Teresa!!!
Teresa—I, too, prefer paper cards. However, I would rather have a newsy e-mail with greetings rather than an impersonal e-card. What a neat gift from your DH!
Chriss—Shelly laughed at the “symphony” card when I told her it was coming! Again, it’s the thought that counts… plus, it is a paper card!!!
Kathy—neat that you are getting acquainted with the “locals”! I can’t complain if it is cool, either! Yesterday’s high of 84 was 6 degrees above average—last week we were about 10 degrees or more below average. I guess that’s why it’s “average”!
Sharona—hope your knee feels better real soon! I still have a butterfly bush to put in the ground and my bouganvillas to put in a planter so I can bring them in when fall comes back around. Have fun!!!
Judi—so sorry about the Red Wings! I can’t stand the casinos, either, because of the smoke… plus, I hate losing money… Have fun!!!
Velda—cute hug!!! Enjoy your day!!!
Sherry—I took my late DH to a NASCAR race as his “Make a Wish” from me when he was ill. It was neat! After watching the wreck into the crowd recently… I’m not so sure I’d go again. We were on the front row in the handicapped section as he was in a wheelchair by then. Here’s to all the races being SAFE today!!!
Lori—Good morning! Your three a.m. post was way too early!!! I miss Calvin and Hobbes!!! So good to hear that Sunbonnet Sue will be making the rounds again.
Suzette—enjoy the Rolling Thunder! Your tile sounds beautiful!!!
Pat--good morning! Even after all our rain, I'm still having to water! It dries out so quickly in the wind and sun.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!!!

Good morning!
Happy Birthday Teresa!!! Happy Birthday Mel!!!!! We are having cake here too!! More on that story in a minute!
I am getting ready for Church today - it will be a very busy Sunday for me - Kate and Aaron are coming for dinner - it is for Kate's 20th birthday - last Friday - so I am doing dinner and the rest of the kids are coming for cake and ice cream - that is if Aaron remembered to buy the ice cream!
Now for the cake story - background - I taught Aaron to decorate and do cakes fancy - Kate wanted a 3-D Teddy Bear Cake from a pan that own - so Aaron came over last night to bake the cake - he has to work today - well, the cake had a very big hiccup! Half the batter flowed out of the top of the pan - which is the bottom of the cake if that makes any sense and left a huge void in the cake! A small bubble we could have fixed, but not this one - so I ran to the store last night - late and got the stuff to make a new one - well not trusting my cake baking skills in the altitude - still learning - I am just making a round layer cake and Aaron will frost and decorate it. To be sure I made a back up cake as well - an apple cake that I know works here. So the new cake is in the oven baking and I have dinner in the crock pot ready to turn as I leave for Church this morning.
I thought that Sundays were a day of rest!! LOL
My Giants won yesterday - in extra innings - by a in-the-park-homerun!! Wow!!
Well I need to read over my talk a few thousand more times before I give it today - so I won't sound like to much of a dumb-dumb!
Have a great day -
Hugs
Jana

Here are a couple of pictures from Ride of the Patriots. The riders join up with others at the Pentagon and it all becomes Rolling Thunder. Hope you enjoy them.

Re: SUNDAY, May 26th, 2013
Quick hello before I get busy this am. Hope you all are having a nice relaxing fun weekend. But don't forget to honor those who have gone on before us.
Special honor for our vets of all the wars and in peacetime too altho we don't seem to have a lot of that anymore. So many have sacrificed their lives. Others come home wounded and try to get on with their own lives. Take time to say Thank you when you see a vet and their families. They sacrifice more than most people realize.
Have you see Caroline's two posts over in chitchat? Her hubby is finally home from rehab. They still need our support, our prayers, and our hugs. She also posted some cute pics of her DGKs. Those two look like they will take on the world together and enjoy every minute of it, smiling all the way.
Happy Birthday, Teresa and Mel and anyone else I have missed lately. May God bless you all and make your day very special, filled with love and memories.
No big plans here. It is too hot outside to go do anything outdoorsy. Rod is planning on watching both big races today. I plan on doing some sewing on some rug mugs for DGKs today.
Prayers that God will bless you all this weekend with fun, happiness, and delightful memories to look back on in your old age. We need those memories when we can't go do things anymore. LOL Prayers for all your needs today and always. Hugs and love from the hot part of the country, AZ. Shirley Mae

Re: SUNDAY, May 26th, 2013
Hi Everyone!
Happy Birthday to Teresa and Mel!
There are only 8 days left of school. (No School tomorrow and the last week ends on Thursday.) I know I will not be working all of those days as a substitute so I am planning what I will be sewing this summer. I have an adorable Halloween quilt to finish and I took a class on the Dresden Plate block I will be using for another quilt. I have a couple of quilts to quilt too this summer. I have already signed up for a bus trip during the Southern California Quilt Run and classes for the International Quilt Festivalat Long Beach . Guess I have a busy summer.
Oh and I am so looking forward to home-grown tomatoes. My tomatoes so far have lots of blossoms, but I haven't seen any fruit. Any of you want to give me information about growing tomatoes? I welcome advice. How long before the fruit sets? The plants were in 4 inch pots when planted April 16th. The plants are now over 2 feet tall. I planted Early Girl, Better Boy, Cherry tomatoes and one other variety.

Re: SUNDAY, May 26th, 2013
Good middle of the long weekend morning! Our baby boy is coming home today! FINALLY, I will get to hold my tiny grandson. I can hardly wait!!! Yesterday turned out different from my expectations, but wonderful nonetheless. My friend had to cancel our lunch date, but I just stayed on at the sewing store (it's not really a quilt shop, but has just enough fabric and notions to support the classes offered) and got to know the owner better. The class I took in the morning was part 2 of a 3-part free motion class. Her focus is really embroidery, but she knows several of us are more interested in quilting applications, so she's gearing this series for both. Her next series will be going more toward thread painting, and I'm enjoying this one so much I might even try it. Today, I'll be telling Mom about her move this next week. I hope she's in a good mood! If her mood is right, this will go well. If her mood is low...well, I don't even want to think about that. I know she had a couple of health setbacks this past week. Meanwhile, changes are taking place inside my house very slowly. This afternoon or evening, I intend to get my big 2-door sewing table set up in the living room temporarily. That's very exciting to me! Then I'll have a place where I can layer my quilts without killing my back. It turns out these 2 doors put together are exactly the same size as a queen-size bed. Most of my quilts aren't that big, so it's perfect! I always loved it for cutting and working without having to make special folds in the fabric to fit on a table. It will make the living room uncomfortable, and I'm betting getting it moved out will take a ridiculously long time, but it's all worth it to me! Poor DH can help me make the other changes happen faster if it bothers him. I truly was meant to live in a mansion...I have too many interests with too much stuff!
TERESA and MEL, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! I hope you both have a perfect day that lasts all year! I vote for real, old-fashioned paper cards, but I'm always just as pleased when I find e-cards in my inbox.
SHIRLEY MAE, stay in and stay cool!
SUZETTE, I've never heard of the Ride of the Patriots, but I sure love the way a long line of parked police motorcycles looks! I always have loved to see that, and don't very often, of course. Even better is when the police leave in formation. I'm so awestruck by their precision riding! Mostly I just see that sort of thing at the beginning of the Rose Parade every year, but a couple of years ago, my husband was honored by the Pasadena Police for some backyard heroism, and we happened to leave just as they were leaving...OOH!!!
JANA, What a cake story! Could you have filled in the missing part with ice cream and pretended it was an intentional ice cream cake? I hope all the rest of your cakes turned out! No matter what, I'm sure they'll taste great and the story will entertain everyone.
MIRIAM, It sounds like you'll be in the garden again today. When I was a little girl, people would grow lantana in a big round bushy clump. We had one in our yard, and it always attracted one particular type of small orange butterfly. For years I thought that was what people meant when they referred to butterfly bush! Now I never see lantana grown into those big round bushes anymore.
LORI, I'd love to host Sunbonnet Sue. Thanks for organizing her upcoming itinerary!
SHERRY, I still love all my books that threaten to collapse the floors of my house, but I have become a Kindle convert for pleasure reading. I find it less convenient for information or research, though.
GRAMMIE, I love the breakfast potluck you and your friend have for this morning! I like anything of that sort, where friends share the prep and then can linger over the pleasure. I don't like casinos either. Too smokey, and nothing to do if you're not interested in losing your money!
SHARONA, be careful with that knee. Maybe you should just sit around and sew while it heals!
KATHY, I'm so glad the party turned out to be so much fun! It sounds like you made some new friends. I'm like you, I often find myself planning to leave early because I'm not a good conversationalist and it can be taxing...then I end up having a great time and am among the last to leave!
CHRISS, I love the idea of a fill the box swap! What fun that would be!!!
SCRAPPYPAT, I do hope your Schnauzer is okay. We had a little terrier mix that had seizures as she aged. It was always so scary, but infrequent enough that we didn't have to put her on meds.
QUILTER7, I've also been planning my summer sewing, but in my district this is our last week, so I only have 3 more days of school!!! I'm celebrating the beginning of vacation with a silk quilt class next Saturday at my LQS, and I'm planning to follow up with a needle case embroidery class at my other sewing store the following Thursday. Then I'll be working on my newly setup (well, it will be tonight, anyhow) BIG work table. I'm also looking forward to the big quilt show in Long Beach, but I'm not planning on taking any classes.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
Jodie
