Well, I went to get what I thought was my packet of 5 inch squares. Imagine my surprise to find it was a charm pack of "Venetian Marble"! I didn't open the package right away when it camebecause of company and now too late to fix it. I will have to cut squares from the yardage I bought I guess so will have to do half square triangles the old fashion way. Not enough fabric to cut those and 11 inch blocks. I can't believe this, I have never had this happen. Lesson learned, open package right away no matter what! AAAAHHHHHH!

Oh Val - Sorry you had to learn the hard way by not opening up the package. Those marbles are awesome. Hope you will be able to them in something else or able to return them.

Sally - Thanks for the update. Will be waiting to read your poetic bribe :) :) :)

I am missing something? I don't see how this is going to come out to 18.5 inches. If the center is 9.5 and you add 5 inches around that, you will not end up with 18.5 inches. What am I missing?

The 9 1/2 center gets HST sewed to each corner.
I think it goes down to a finished
center, like 6 1/2?
look at directions again and look again
at pictures that are posted.

hope that will help you

Thanks Joan for the update. I know you are pretty busy with other projects so I am thrilled you were able to make 2 for the winners to enjoy :) :)

Valeria - Do not worry about the finished inside Square. After folding your squares in half diagonally, placing them on the corners of the 9.5" square then sewing on the folded line ... the block will still measure 9.5".
Adding the 5" squares to both sides minus the 1/2" seams on both sides will give you an 18.5" block. My block came out so I know it does work :) :) :)
I know you can do it!!!! GO VALERIE!!!!!

Also think of it this way - 2 5" HST's sewn together leaves you with a 9.5" block.

Velda - Hubby brought in the mail when he got home. I get so busy I forget to check the mail :) :) I LOVE your blocks. Great different fabrics added but the stitching bag is beyond WOW - WOW and more WOW adorable. I will be the envy of everyone in my group. I will have to add some more pins and things the the scissors and threads and pins to it and always be ready to grab and go. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!

Teresa: You are very welcome. You do a lot to host our lotto monthly.
I can't even imagine how you can come up with such adorable blocks for us to learn from and enjoy every single month.
I have learned so much this year being a part of this group.

The Thank You's go to YOU!!!! Oh, and I forgot. . . Congrats Grandma to be!!!

Thank you Velda for the wonderful words and for the blessing on being a Grandma.
The hard part of coming up with a block is choosing among the 1000's of them wondering which one you will enjoy while learning or practicing a technique. I am thrilled that you have enjoyed it every month. Can't wait to see how your Sampler Quilt will look.

Sally - FABulous blocks to add to the fireworks of color in my house. I even love the middle of one of your blocks - teehee. It will work for a center block of the quilt perfectly. Adds character :) :) :)
