Re: Quilt Forum Idea's
Would someone please tell me what Dear Jane quilts are? I'm new to quilting and can use all the help I can get. I have made one twin size quilt that was a split rail pattern. I have allot of scraps and when I say scraps I mean small pieces like 3x3 or so. Any good Ideas?

Dear Jane quilts are based on a quilt by Jane Stickle made in 1863 in Vermont. If you search for it you will find many pictures and the story of them. Just google it.

Bnongey... you can do scads of things with 3x3 charms... google charm quilt pattern.. you will be surprised at how many things come up.
a Dear Jane quilt is based on a quilt a woman named Jane made with her scraps during the civil war.. the quilt consists of well over a hundred blocks and some of the girls on this forum are doing a beautiful job of making it.. it's a little too tideous for me..but if you are interested in it it could be fun.
check out the sew in in this forum and get to know the members.. you will feel right at home almost immediatly, the girls love to help so ask away...
hope you come back often.

Bnongey the Dear Jane Quilt is exactly as described. It has 225 blocks and very addictive. I am one of the newer ones to Dear Jane and I only have a few blocks done. Some of the other ladies have been doing it alot longer than I have and have lots of blocks done. The pattern is an entire book. I got mine at Amazon. There are several websites with helps. I will warn you a Bloody Mary by your sewing machine helps. LOL

I'm trying to think of quilt themes for future contests. Did we do animals? Baby quilts? Memorial Quilts? A specific main color? Two-color quilts? Landscapes? Appliqued quilts? Patriotic? Snowmen? Harvest theme? Various holidays? Most unusual ever made by each entrant?

I would love to hear more from Longarm quilters, and their side of the world...Apparently, they have a world of their own in this tech logo...Think we could learn from each other.
