need a quilter friend

Post by whisper »

I need a quilter friend.. I am 75 years old, live far out in the country
(21 miles from closest town), a ewplant from Chicago and just had surgery.. I was a beginner quilter before the surgery (only did 4 patch)
Now that I am back to quilting, I need a friend to help me pick out blocks and give me encouragement

Whisper, you've come to the right place! I have no one either, that lives close to me, but I have all the wonderful ladies - and a few creative men! - to share my quilty life with! Many of us gather each morning in the "Sew-in" section of this forum, just to chat about what's going on in our lives that day. This is where we buck each other up during difficult times, and celebrate each others' victories and joys! There are many other sections of the forum, but you get the most response in the sew-in. Don't forget to check out our 'show and tell' in "Photos"!

The best part of this "guild", is you can 'attend' in your jammies!!

Welcome!

Whisper, Welcome, we would all like to be your friends. How long have you been in your new state? I am in Northern Illinois, within a few hours of Chicago...

You are looking for something to do. Take a look at Eleanor's books. She has a few samplers. I like Quilts Through the Season's book or Egg Money quilts. Both books have several quilts in them that are quick . The first book would have quilts for all 4 seasons. It also has table runners and gift ideas. You may also want to look at her signature patterns.

Welcome to the group and I hope this helps you with some suggestions.Do you have any ideas of what you might want to try??

Hi Whisper. Everyone is right----you are in the best place. I have been gone for a while but have been in several of the topic groups. These quilters are always there for you in whatever problem or question you have. I suggest you look in El's books (the suggested ones are great) and if you like one, just get in it and try it. She has excellent directions and pictures. Check to see if you can get her show on T.V. You can check with the county you are in and there may be a county Quilt Guild or a group that meets at a Senior Center near you.

Welcome...sorry I seldom get time to check out all the other chapters in this forum. SewIn is the place to find the best "Friends".

Whisper, do you quilt on a machine or by hand?
