bowtie quilt
I have a bowtie quilt top almost finished (5" squares). I used a light and a dark blue. Instead of a border I am thinking of using small quarter size bowtie quilt blocks all around. I may use a yellow? strip between the large and small blocks. Has anyone done this?

I've done a couple of similiar quilts, using different blocks, but the same method. It turned out beautiful if I do say so myself! I hope you'll show us a photo in the Photos Section when you finish it.

Re: bowtie quilt
I like using blocks for a border. I always 'stay stitch' about 1/8" from the edge when I'm done so the quilter (not me!) doesn't have to worry about the seams pulling apart when it is stretched on her frame. Sometimes, like in a Turning Twenty quilt, I just don't want the quilt to be any bigger, so I don't add borders at all.

Linda71 Have you ever heard of 3D bowtie, easiest bowtie I ever came across in our Quilt show demos. I've used it for various sizes.. No thinking involved and made a few for selling, giving, ABC quilts. Yet, back in day when camera was unknown thing..
I should make it again, and photo step by steps on site..
