Machine quilting puckers
I ahve been making "Quilt in a Day" quilts since taking a class in Californiaalmost 30 years ago. My problem is machine quilting. No matter how careful I am, I never get smooth quilting. I usually give up and (tediously) do it by hand. I have a Bernina with a "walking foot" attached and also a Pfaff with a built in walking foot. Any hints???

Re: Machine quilting puckers
I think that you might try - smoothing the section that you are quilting first - that is pulling the fabric taunt between your hands in that few inches where you are quilting -
Also always start in the middle of the quilt and have a large amount of excess for the back - so that as you stitch the fabric will move to the outside and you still have fabric for the backing and the batting.
It is hard to tell you how - but if you can go to the media theater here - there is a video of El machine quilting and showing you how to hold your hands and the pinning of the quilt sandwich. She shows you the tricks on how to do it - there are several different episodes there. I wish I remembered which ones

I just went up to the Media theater and look under the Scraps to Quilts Series - scroll down and you will see two episodes on Machine Quilting.
