September Block Lotto - and the winner is! drumroll ...............................
Teresa and Jacquie - I am trying to get to the post office but the state has come into my place of employement for their annual survey. I am stuck at work all day and can't leave. I am going to stop on the way in the am to mail Teresa's but Jacquie, I can't get yours off until I can get to the post office and go inside. It may have to be next week depending on how late they stay everyday. So sorry. Valerie
I don't believe it Teresa but you won! Yippee Skippee!
Second winner Shelly straight out of Scotland! Across the pond our blocks go.
Congrats to both of you. Jacquie please PM exactly how I have to address to you so it gets there and you also don't have to pay customs.
Welcome to September Block Lotto. For those who don't already know, September is National Sewing Month! I was thinking, (usually gets me in trouble but let's see) it would be nice to have a quilt for our sewing rooms. I am proposing we do quilter's choice block (any 12 inch block) out of sewing/quilting themed fabrics with white background. I realize some will have to purchase fabric for this one (I will) so wanted to throw it out there before making a final decision. What does everyone think?
Well, it looks like this is a go. So the rules are:
1. quilter's choice for pattern (12 inch finished)
2. white background
3. either sewing themed fabric, embroidery, appliques, etc
4. quality cotton fabric
5. Send either two or four blocks to me by Sept 30. Enclose $1 to help with postage for me to send on to the winner.
6. Have fun!
PS - PM me if you need my address

how about doing an appliqued block like one of these, they don't have to be high-tech, and you can have real fun doing your own!!
i'm going to have a go... love jacquie xxxxx

Hi. You can count me in. I will say I'm not very good with applique, but if this is what majority want, I will try. Besides it would be good practice for me.

it could be anything you like!!
that's the beauty! this way you don't have to go out and buy fabric.

lots of different sewing machines!!! flowery ones, button ones, cat ones, doggy ones... the list is endless...lol
cute... very cute!!

I think it could be anything that makes it sewing themed; fabric, applique, embroidery, machine embroidery; all would be cute. Maybe we'll here from a few more girls before a final decision. Let's wait 48 hours and see what others might say.

Oh, Oh, Oh, me, me, me!! If we get to do a block out of sewing themed fabric, count me in!!! I was looking for a coffee themed fabric that I just know I have SOMEWHERE in my sewing room, and I cam across a whole bunch of sewing themed fat quarters. Now, I know I bought them for a specific purpose, but for the life of me can't remember for what, so this would be perfect to use them up on. Besides, after I make the blocks, then I will remember what I bought the fabric for and will be required to make the treck to the fabric store to try to find more (LOL).

LOL Jo, any excuse if good enough for me to have to go buy fabric. When I buy fabric for something specific, I always put the pattern with the fabric so I don't forget.

But, We, if I did that, then I would know why I bought what fabric I bought and figure I better do that specific project before I start anything else. Now that wouldn't be fun, would it?

I have been collecting sewing themed fabric to stick in a jar pattern (the bug jar pattern). I'm up for that.
