I have just finished the latest "Bones" book in the series by Carolyn Haines. I just LOVE her series! Great mystery and fun books to read.
Sarah Booth Delaney is the main character..and it's set in the Mississippi Delta..and includes a resident ghost in her family home. She is a PI (Private Investigator) along with her friend "Tinkie", who is a true southern belle.
I got the book list on Carolyn Haines website, and it's more fun to read them in order, but not neccessary. Great books!

Re: Have you read a good book lately?
I have discovered a new (to me) author and I love her. Her name is Julie Hyzy. She writes two different mystery series. In one the main character is the executive chef in the White House. Very entertaining! they also include White House recipes in the back (unless you buy them used and someone has ripped them out! Couldn't they just have copied them instead and left the book intact??)
The second series is about a curator of an historical mansion in North Carolina. I'm just getting into my first one of this series, but it promises to be as good as the Chef books.
I would call these books a level above 'cozy' for action. And the stories maintain their keen interest without the use of foul language, sex, or gore. Julie Hyzy. Give her a try for pure entertainment.

I'm almost finshed with "Bossy Pants" by Tina Fey. If you need a laugh this is a good book to read. Very funny. Lori

Re: Have you read a good book lately?
Just finished reading Danielle Steeles new book, Until the End. Really two short stories bound together by my favorite "mindless reading" author. A quick read, as was Beyond the Storm by Carolyn Zane part of the Quilts of Love Series". I read for stress management so these are light reading that don't have to have the greatest powers of concentration. Hope this gives someone a suggestion. Oh, I read these both on my e-reader. Have a great evening.

"Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn, is a really good. It's been on the best seller list for quite a few a few weeks and hit #1 last Sunday. So many twists to the characters. You think you know them and then. . .

I want to thank all of you who post on this thread. I am always looking for new books and authors to read. My Kindle is my constant companion and I love to find authors that I enjoy.
Sherry, thanks for the recommendation on "Gone Girl". I will download it to read next.
