trapezoids

I am quilting a Farmer's Daughter table runner. It has many trapezoids. How do I prevent them from stretching esp. when I have to rip apart and resew? I am rather new to quilting so type slowly!

You might want to use some spray starch, either commercial or make your own, and if you have to unsew, try to take the thread on the outside of the piece instead of opening the seam and taking it out. This seems to work for me. Good Luck, Pam

The starch idea is a great one - you need to learn to press - not iron your pieces - this will aid in not stretching them

Pressing means to place iron on piece and press down and then lift up - don't slide it back and forth - the back and forth action will stretch out the block. Back and forth is like when you iron a shirt to get out the wrinkles. I tease my students that the fabric has done nothing to you and you don't need to iron it into submission. LOL

Spray starch the pieces before you sew them.

Spray Starch is a great idea and it works well. However spray starch attracts bugs like bed bugs, ants, and others. So after your project is done be sure to wash and dry it.
