two color pattern

Post by Linda71 » Thu May 13, 2010 9:28 pm

Does anyone know the name of a pattern that has a diagonal block in the center and a smaller triangle sew on two sides(not all four corners). Linda

hi Linda... I am trying to figure out what you are referring to by a diagonal block in the center... do you have any more clues? Someone will probably be along here and know exactally what you are talking about.

Sometimes I google "quilt block" and then click images.. maybe you will see a picture of what you are looking for.

I saw a pattern on about.com, scrappy stars. A decided I wanted to make one when I googled "quilts antique geometric". On their site it is called Robbing peter to pay paul, different I think from many other peter and paul quilts. Thanks for the help.

Hi Linda,
Take a look at www.earlywomenmasters.net/quilts/r/robpeter and see if this is something close to what you are looking for.
Good Luck, Pam

I think this is sometimes called Indian Hatchet also. These blocks can be put together in so many ways! I do an easy baby quilt that I call Hugs and Kisses using that block:

In Eleanor's Egg Money Quilts book, there is another example of this block on page 154. It's called Friendship - also known as Signature or Celebrity. This is made in reverse of my Hugs & Kisses blocks - with the background fabric in the middle and prints on opposite corners.

Linda, Are you maybe referring to the lattice look that Caroline1947 had a tutorial for awhile back? I think someone brought it back up to the top in photos. It has two triangles sewed to a strip in the middle and then squared up. Really neat pattern and simple to do. Hope you find what you are looking for. God bless and happy quilting. Hugs, Shirley Mae
