The Lover's Knot Quilt

Post by skizzor » Thu Apr 29, 2010 7:44 pm

I think I would like to make The Lover's Knot quilt to see if I can then make an anniversary quilt for my parent's 50th anniversary. Does anyone have any suggestion as I follow Eleanor's book of instructions? Is it a good choice for a rather new quilter? Anyone have any suggestions or comments before I begin? Thanks so much!!

I have made two lover's knot quilts. I think it is a good choice for a new quilter. You can't beat El books. Her directions are the easiest to follow. Good luck.

Thanks everyone! All her books are usually very well explained and easy to follow. I am glad to hear this one should not disappoint. I will give it a try!

The best thing about Eleanor's books is that she makes you feel you CAN do it. There is no pretention in the way they are written (not like some I have looked at), just straightforward instructions. I did my first quilt Log Cabin from her book and had never made a quilt before and it was a brilliant learning curve. She is my heroine!!

It is an easy quilt to make. My only real suggestion is to make sure that both your dark fabric and your dark medium fabric dominate. They are the fabrics that make the 'knots', so they need to stand out.

My sister and I both made this quilt and it is an easy pattern.
I made it with the angled corners and I love it. I have it at the quilters right now or I would try to post a picture. You will love it.

I made the Lover's Knot table runner so I know I can do the quilt. The directions are easy to follow and it's fast with the chainstitch method. I still have to baste it and quilt it and bind it. I have it neatly folded up in a pizza` box and I have just enough batting to do it with. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay
