old fabric

Post by grammiequilts »

My DD announced to us that our new Grandbaby will be a girl. We are excited about it, Here is my question. I have 3 of her baby dresses that I would like to pass on to her new baby girl, I have had them store well for the last 28 years, They are a little dingy. Does anyone know a product that will brighten them up and remove the little bit of yellowing, without hurting the fabric....I also have a sweater set with a bonnet and booties. Thanks for all your help.

I was told that OxyClean would work. However, since my DD had only boys, I didn't bother.

Oxyclean or Clorox 2 that doesn't have bleach, we use that for the white purificators at church to get wine out. I've used Oxyclean before and if you soak them for awhile in that first it is good. Hey, also Biz is good too. You don't want anything with bleach. Good luck.

Oxyclean for sure. Funny you mention it. I was at a craft show last weekend and the lady that made the aprons out of vintage linens was there. I was telling her about some of Aunt Martha;s pillowcases and said to her how do you ever get old white white. She said oxyclean. She said she used to soak them in ivory snow soap but used the oxyclean now.
