way to keep track of quilts

Post by quilting-nanaof5 » Tue Mar 02, 2010 1:51 pm

I don't know if anyone would like to do this but I thought I would tell you what i do.
I copy Els paste page and I blow the box up to fit the page. (almost all the page). With quilt around the world I had to do some rearranging. Then I cut the fabric I am using to fit the block where that fabric goes and I have a picture of the blocks I used in that quilt. If it is not one of her patterns I can always find a block like the one i am making and do the same.

then after I am done. I write on the page when I made it. who I gave the quilt to, how it was quilted. And any other info that I think I might want later whether or not I had trouble making it, how long it took.

If I can I also put a picture of it with the person I gave it to.

What a good idea - I was keeping track with just pictures but journaling like this is a much better way to go! Thanks for the idea.

I have a Quilt Journal i.e. scrapbook. I create a page for every quilt I make showing pics, material samples, date I made it, who it was made for, story (if I had any difficulties, etc.), and the Bible verse (I put one on each of my quilts).

i do digital scrapbook pages of my quilts and put them in an album. I can then have my memories of making them, notes on fabric and photos of the quilt in progress and the receipiant too
