i would be interested in doing something from her egg money quilt book or maybe my first choice is the magic vine, that would be really cool
i am still working on my applique in a day. i am really please with how it is coming out. it is taking forever since i am doing two of them at the same time, and other things keep getting in front of them

Carolyn,
Dreamcatcher, Kite Quilt, and Homestead are a lot more involved than I would want to make, but I suppose if your idea catches on, that I can opt not to make a certain block since it would be a sew-along. One block per week? Or every other week? Twice a month? It might be fun.

I think your idea is a grea one Carolyn... I was looking at those patterns the other day and thinking the same thing... I didn't look, are they all the same size?

Sounds like fun! I would really love to do Egg Money or Magic Vine... ALL of them!!! LOL! I'll go along with the group decision!

The Dream Catcher is over 24", so it might make a medallion. Some of the other blocks are 9.5", and I didn't check out the others. It would be a sampler quilt with different size blocks, I'm guessing.

Let me know what you decide. I think a sew along or pick 'n stitch would be fun.

Sunbonnet Sue by the month would be neat, as well. I have a pattern like the little chunky one, or I could probably draw it. I made one years ago for my aunt's first granddaughter, then had 50 completed blocks burn up. Need to get started again. I made "Overall Dan" for my DGS Daniel when he was little--11 years ago. I also adapted "Dan" and made a football player for my sister's little DGS--Green Bay fans.

This sounds like something I might be interested in. I keep looking at the Egg Money Quilt book at JoAnn's, it's got some beautiful patterns in it. Or the Sunbonnet Sue pattern would also be nice. I see that no one has mentioned the Victory Quilts book, that has blocks of different levels and they all finish up at the same size. Would that one be a possibility?

Carolyn, it sounds like a great idea if I understand you.
We are gonig to use the free patterns here, so if we don't have to purchase a book if we don't already own it, right?
What if more than 12 people sign up? It's a luck of the dice but we will have 12 blocks when it is over.
I own several of her books, not all of them! This sounds like a fun sew along.

Sharon that is my idea use the free patterns on this site so that we are using El's patterns. If more then 12 sign up then you are right it is luck of the dice as to who gets to pick the blocks. I am going to look closely at the sizes of the blocks but it could be a multiple size sampler. There are easy and hard blocks so if one is out of your comfort zone you could pick a block from one of Eleanor's books.

ya' know.. if someone with more math ability than I have could figure it out there could be strips of flying geese or pinwheels or something to make smaller blocks match up with larger blocks... and the free patterns could be made into a sampler quilt...

I printed off all the patterns yesterday, they are cool...

if you all are considering a sew along with one of the QIAD books let me know which one and if I don't have it maybe I could get it at JoAnn's with my coupon...

and.. yes there is more... on the QIAD site there is a sampler book for $2...it is a 12 block sampler quilt... check it out...
