magnet seam guide

This sunds stupid but I bought this item and where do I put it on my machine? It doesn't look right thats why I'm asking.

If you have a computorized machine do not use it. Otherwise you put it to the right hand side of the foot at the distance you want your seam to be. Measure the distance from the needle to the right side where you are going to put the seam guide. And if you are talking quilting it should be 1/4 inch,

I think El's video of Nana's Garden in the media theater here shows how she used it and also the adhesive kind of seam guide.

Most newer machines are not bothered by the magnetic seam guide. If in doubt, check with your dealer. I could use one on my BabyLock Espire, but prefer the 1/4" foot.

I have used the magnet type and what I did was make sure of my seam width then put the magnet just a bit toward the front of the presser foot to make sure the fabric goes through straight. I mostly use a computerized machine now and you can't use the magnet on them.

I don't have anything magnetic to stick one on. I use post it notes (the long skinny ones) taped down.
