Cutting question

If the directions call for 40 squares from same size strips of fabric, can you put two or three strips on top of each other and cut. I have never made a quilt calling for so many squares, triangles, etc. I am at the beginning of the intermediate group of quilters. I have used Eleanor Burn's method for HST's and QST's. This pattern calls for cutting invidual triangles. Help.

hi Stash.... you sure can stack your fabric and cut a few pieces at a time... make sure you have your strips even and make sure your ruler doesnt' slip... I use sand paper dots on the bottom of my ruler, a lot swear by the plastic non slip grip stuff you apply to the underside of the ruler... I can cut a few strips at a time with a sharp rotory cutter... but I find that cutting too many at a time makes them come out wonky.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You could start by cutting 2-3 layers and see how you do. If you're uneasy just cut a few and measure them to make sure they're 4". Have fun!
