June Tailor Perfect Half-Square Quarter-Square Ruler

Post by TooMuchFabric » Sat Aug 22, 2009 7:44 am

Has anyone tried the June Tailor Perfect Half-Square Quarter-Square ruler? They showed it on the Creative Sewing with Sue show on our local PBS station this morning. It looked like it would make life a bit less complicated but then they are paid to make things look that way.

Happy Stitching!!!

I didn't get to see the Show this morning. I have never heard of this ruler. Will have to check it out. I have used these Stitching Lines from QIAD here & it is a way to make a no fail 1/2 square triangle using 2 squares sewn with right sides together. Andy, our Webmaster's Mom came up with these.

Thanks for the info, Cathy. That looks really good too. I am always blown away with sewing/quilting gadgets...I have way too many that don't get used but a couple of times.

Speaking of gadgets I was at Hancocks the other day and they had a SideWinder set up for folks to try out. They had stacks of them and I assume they aren't selling like hotcakes right now. I really like mine because if I am quilting I don't have to stop and wind bobbins on the sewing machine.

QIAD makes a half-square triangle ruler...I really like it. Don't use it a whole lot since I am not overly fond of making HST's, but it works great making them nice and even.

I have a SideWinder as well...I think they are one of those semi-luxury items that sell well when folks are feeling flush and have a bit of money to spare. One of my machines makes pretty lousy bobbins, so I got it to use as a back-up when I am using that machine. I like that the SideWinder fills the bobbins evenly and FULLY.

WalMart has the rulers here. I made a sample block and it is simple and easy. My grandaughter has almost worn out my Sidewinder. She winds bobbins for me when she's here. She loves it. I keep a new package of the small metal bobbins for her, I have plenty of filled bobbins I toss in a bin. They sure are handy for applique, binding sewing, taking to classes or just say here guild buddy have a few filled bobbins.
