One of God's creatures
I had a visitor today sitting right at my front door. Now I am not a bug fancier but this guy was just too beautiful not to notice. He is called a Luna Moth and thought to be on the endangered species list. We don't use any chemicals around our place so I hope that is why he is hanging around By the way he was about 3 to 4 inched accross

Beautiful! What a pretty shade of green for a bug. I saw something similar a few summers ago when we worked just south of Overland Park, KS. I thought it was a green butterfly. Never could find one like it on line. Didn't think about it being a moth. I watched it for a long time before it finally flew away.
The RV park where we worked that year was on the Ks-MO border and we were 7 miles from the nearest town (Lewisburg, KS). Right across the road was a wildlife preserve with lots of wildflowers, grain, trees, sort of swampy water and a creek for lots of wildlife.
We had a pond on the property where we worked and it was constantly surrounded by dragonflies and butterflies along with various species of birds, etc. The pond had geese, ducks, turtles, frogs, etc along with the fish. I had a wonderful summer exploring the wildlife in the area. And the sunsets were gorgeous in that area. No bldgs in the way. I even got to see fall colors that year since we winter over in the SW each yr and travel to new places each summer.
Thanks for sharing a wonderful pic. We all need to not only stop and smell the roses but also look closely at the bugs, etc around us.
