New binding and strip cutting machines
Has anyone tried these new machines? The binding machine supposedly will make 12ft in seconds and the strip cutter sounds good but I am looking for "tried and tested" opinions.

Re: New binding and strip cutting machines
The fabric store here just got the bias maker in, but we haven't tried it yet. It comes with one width and you have to buy the other attachments for different widths. I forgot to take my bias stirps with me today to try but maybe sometime this week I will go and try it. The stip cutter didn't come in, it was on back order so I don't know how that is either.

Brenda, the Bias strip maker you are supposed to be able to put in your strips and it sort of irons it into the size you need. It comes with one tip and you have order the other sizes. I use a lot of bias as I make a lot of aprons and trim them. Probably good for appliaque strips and curved borders.
Nancy's notions has it here is the linkhttp://www.nancysnotions.com/product/id ... /132089.do she doesn't seem to have the strip cutter.
Keepsake Quilting seems to have both on the same page.
They're both a bit pricey so you will want to check the sales.

I bought the bias tape maker but it hasn't come in yet. In August the new tips will be out. One is for 2 1/2 inch straight strips for quilting. I found the best price here: 73.99

She has pictures on how to use it on her blog.

Re: New binding and strip cutting machines
It's here and it works great. I made single fold straight binding and it folded and pressed perfectly. Boy I'm glad my tedious pressing and folding binding days are over with! Here are the tips that will be available in Aug: The tips for single fold bias tape will be: 1/8 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4, 1 1/2. The Quilt Binding tips will be for 2 1/4 in and 2 1/2 in cut strips. I read on a yahoo group board that you can refold the wider strips and make it double fold. I haven't tried that.

That does sound like a nice thing to have but it is a little too much for my blood right now unfortunately. I know you are going to enjoy it sewbug.

Re: New binding and strip cutting machines
I have the strip cutter, my daughter surprised me with one. It cuts 2 layers of quilt weight fabric pretty easily, You really have to pay attention and keep the fabric straight, or you end up with a worm shaped strip, the more I use it, the straighter the strips are. Runs kind of slow, I must say using the rotary cutter is alot faster, and more accurate, but like I said the more I use it the straighter they get. And I am wondering about new blades, do they need replaced? I e-mailed simplicity and they never replied, so not sure about that, the blade is dull but it is pressure that cuts the fabric, at least that is what I read about it, anyway I would give it 7 stars out of 10.
