Sharonkl, I have once tried this pattern - it can be done in freely cut curves too (they are cut in stacks and then their order is altered) and I thought it is a lovely technique - only "devouring" a lot of material as you have to count on all the seams (and squaring up the resulting block). Is this the technique you have used?
