Yesterday (4th April) I received a text message saying, a baby girl was born to my colleague at 7 a.m. It was on this very day that I finished the quilt for her ... I had not thought it would need so much time to finish - I tried to mark the time down, all those weekend whiles I had devoted to making it - and ended up at about twenty five hours! I just can´t believe that! I ended up with the size cca 37"x47" and I took great effort to quilt it (in the ditch) as carefully as I was able to. Which was not so simple, as I had used thick batting and flannel as backing - the flannel seemed to give up to my stretching during quilting and refused to move. (I will think twice before I use it again.) Well, I thouroughly enjoyed the piecing - the pain was, as usual, squeezing the big thing through my small machine while quilting ... I did not attempt to do any more decorative quilting on it as I wanted the quilt to remain soft and fluffy. Well, I hope the baby´s mum will enjoy it - and that it will bring many beautiful peaceful (and warm) dreams to the baby!
Inka, Let me be the first. You told me to post the pictures for you and pick out the ones I liked the best....so I did! She sent 5 pictures. Beautiful and the baby will snuggle peacefully under the warmth of it!!
Calicopuzzle posts Inka's pictures in case anyone wants this information.
WOW...what a perfect baby quilt. I'm with you when it comes to the quilting on a baby quilt. To me this is when less is better. It looks so soft and comfy. Just beautiful.
Inka, Another beautiful example of your handiwork. What a lucky little baby to be able to snuggle and sleep under all that fluffy pretty quilt. You did a great job. Happy Quilting.
Calico, Thanks for your choice of pics and sharing ALL of them. Inka does a great job everytime and it would be hard for me to pick too. Thank you for sharing her delightful work. God bless you both.
