My first rag quilt

Post by Homespun » Sun Mar 08, 2009 8:33 pm

My inspiration for this one was a flannel sheet that my husband had. He just had one sheet, not a set and it doesn't fit our bed anyway so I thought...hmmmm...rag quilt. I ended up buying a ton of other flannels to go with it though and it was more than I expected, but it was still an easy project. Anywho, here it is. The quilt rack is my husband, the black dog is Tristan, the yellow is Jethro. OH, I have not washed it yet, but all the little fringes are cut.

Notice the scrap pile on the floor...I've learned a lot from watching El..Hee hee!

Sorry they are sideways. I tried rotating them but photobucket and I don't seem to get along too well!

I want to try the rag quilt pattern this year also. Your DH will be ready for snuggling down and watching sports this winter with his new quilt. I also throw my trimmings on the floor (or in the basket) beside my cutting table. No use fretting over them till I'm finished for the day.

Very nice job!
Have Fun,

Beautiful! The dogs look like they are just waiting for you to lay it down so they can lay on it!

Which one is the sheet??? I love your color choices!!! Rag quilts are fun to do, I've done two lap quilts and will do more. Flannel is a bit pricey, but I actually like the cheaper flannel for these quilts. The high end flannel is heavy, but the colors/patterns are prettier.
Really nice job!!!

That is one nice rag quilt. Your DH will enjoy that more than just one flannel sheet. LOL Pretty color combo and great job. It will look even better after you wash it and it all fluffs up around the edges. The dogs are cute too. Happy quilting and God bless. Hugs, Shirley Mae
