Dogs and Quilt Pics

Post by Georgiapeach » Sun Feb 22, 2009 5:04 am

I'm babysitting this weekend, this is Wally, one of my grand-dogs! Wally is a big ole cuddle-bug baby and he loves to sleep under my sewing table while I sew. Daisy is tolerating him really well, I'm surprised! LOL!

This is the Double Irish Chain quilt I just finished quilting. Daisy seems to approve of it!

This is a quilt block that was made by my great great grandmother in the 1800's. A relative found it in a trash barrel and rescued it and gave it to my mom, who has given it to me! I can't believe anyone would throw it out, I'm so thrilled to have it!

Beautiful pics!!! Daisy has a great expression in the first one, as if to say, "When do I get my mom back to myself?" I always look in the background of pictures and I must say your new Hillbilly Mansion looks fabulous!!! Thanks for sharing, I always love to see your work.

Well Daisy seem to look all tuckered out from her visiting relative and I don't blame her for trying to take a nap on that big ol quilt. Your grand dog is so cute and your quilt is gorgeous. I would frame your Great Grandmothers quilt block for sure. Shame on those who were going to throw it out, their loss and most defiantly your gain.

The old quilt block looks stained in the pic, but I guess it's a shadow because it isn't stained. I haven't pressed it or anything yet, either. I'm going to frame it and hang it in my sewing room. My mom has a Lone Star quilt quilted by my great grandmother that one day she will pass on to me. So, I will have 5 generations of quilts or blocks, so special to me! Well, actually, counting my grandmonkey, it's 6 generations! Boy, she'd fuss at me for leaving her out! LOL!

I ended up quiting the Dbl. Irish Chain on my Juki because I'd had to piece the minkee for the backing and couldn't get it to load smoothly on the HQ16. So, needless to say, there's minimal quilting on it, boy was that beast heavy to drag thru that machine! I was EVER SO HAPPY to get it finished! LOL!

My sons went camping this weekend (crazy fools, it's COLD in the N. Ga. mtns.!) and I'm babysitting ole Wally. In fact, he's been staying with Daisy and I pretty often while DS is at work, there's no need for him to be home alone all day now that Daisy has decided to allow him to visit! LOL! Daisy rules the roost with an "iron paw", and Wally is very layed-back and doesn't mess with her, bless his heart he acts like a little old hen-pecked man around her. Everything is peaceful as long as he doesn't even LOOK at her bed or quilt or toys.

Hi, Nancy! How are you enjoying your new Sapphire machine? Yep, those two muts are comical to be around. Daisy is such a "full figured gal" that Wally seems skinny to me, guess I'm just not used to being around a dog that has ribs! LOL!

I want to kiss both of those doggies!! The quilt is just stunning! I love that it's so graphic & linear, looks great! I can't imagine dragging a quilt that big with minkee on it through a Juki! You're a far better woman than I!

The old quilt block is such a treasure to be certain. I would totally frame it & show that one off. Super cool!
