Good Afternoon all, I have been babysitting all morning just got home was at DD at 830 So I have accomplished nothing...DH is working from home so I have to be quiet too...Need to work on sewing today and call my sis. They were supposed to let her come home today but she needed a blood transfusion...so she is P----D to say the least. It happens. Nurse told her it was pretty common. So maybe tomorrow if her blood count comes up. She can come home. Off to get something done>BBL

jameswife, Thanks for the photo. That machine is lovely. I think one of those would go nicely with my collection. Must do some hunting now!

Good afternoon from the Tundra, aka, SW Pa....We had snow, then we had more and then we had a blizzard, then the sun came out....I worked in the Meals on Wheels office this morning and what a mess...The gals in the kitchen had all the meals (105) ready to go and as the delivers came in, each one kept saying how bad the roads were...Then the road supervisor called and said, no one should be out and we canceled! 105 hot meals went to the freezer, 105 bagged lunches are in the frig... We then called each person to tell them, no delivery and to make sure they were OK...I thought I might be stuck in the office for days but finally made my way home, 15 miles an hour... What a great feeling to get back inside my house! Hopefully I don't have to go out until Sunday morning....Oh I hate this weather!

After having my lunch, I'm headed for the sewing room to finish a couple of things and then get it cleaned....I want to give the machines a good oiling before I leave...

Enjoy the rest of the day, everyone
Stay warm and safe!

Good luck, Lyn! I got this one in 2005, and it was the only one the sewing machine place had. I think they were put out the year before that. If you search on ebay or something, you might want to search for singer anniversary machine, as far as I know, they only put them out that one year for thier anniversary. Hope you find one!

Howdy I have a gawd awful headache this morning...I hate that
Why does El's special rule make the flying geese so much easier?

Mary - I have to take a list to the grocery store and if it is not on the list it doesn't get purchased

Rosie - how awful that you have to sew today, I feel bad for you

Irishgram - that weather sounds like it is making lots of lives miserable. Do those people have something to eat if Meals on Wheels isn't able to make the rounds?

Brenda - I checked out your new machine last night, I am green Please let me know how you like it, I am giving it some serious thought...found a factory servied one on Ebay for $650

grammie - I alway thought blood transfusions meant that your blood was totally replaced...not so my neighbor had one and they just add more because you don't have enough - strange!!!

Vicky - funerals are tough get some rest

Jameswife - I am impressed that you can even sew on that machine

Sandy, I actually started on this machine. I used to sew when I was a kid, but hadn't sewn for years when I got it. All my sewing was done on it until last August when I got my Brother electric machine. It's not as hard to sew on one as it looks:)

The flying geese rulers make it easier because you make everything oversized and square it up when you're done. You also don't have to deal with the bias edges of the trianges(not as big a deal for me, I'm used to dealing with bias now). You can also do them using this technique without the rulers, but the rulers make it easier to square up.

Brenda that is a beautiful machine. I learned to sew on my gramma's tredle... a site called" sewing machines plus" has singers for sale starting at about 229 for the machine only...I am thinking of restoring my gramma's years ago it was stored in a basement and rusted and the belts rotted..I 'd like to fix it up.
Sandy my sis just had a hip replacement last tues..and with any joint surgery there can be a lot of bleeding...so her blood went low enough for her to need additional blood to bring her blood counts back up...

:)

*C7* Yes I was actually able to go back to bed and sleep a hole in this day. (Compliments of my meds)

WeeOne, I'm SO sorry you missed it to start the sew-in. If there was a way to switch, so your post could be in my starting post I would do it in a heart beat. Let us know how the RV quilt turned out.

Vicky, this must be an exhausting day on you. I truly hope you got a giant nap in with a pleasant dream about Jill up in Heaven now.

*CJ* LOL I would get claustrophobic having to live in an 'ice box', besides the fact that my skin would be permanently colored purple, due to that type of cold. As far as how I feel? Right now I'm a bit numb with fear not knowing what those two MRI's (without and with contrast) will show my Doc's. (I'm schedule to lay in the 'clunker' for 90+ minutes next Monday) The least I can hope for that those tests will show I might still have a few brain cells left in my skull somewhere.

JW, glad to read you had a mommie day yesterday. I am pea green looking at your singer machine AND your PERFECT geeses. I have to remind Jeff to take you OUT of our last will and testament.

CarIN, I think you should clean, and when you're done you should come back here to California, to continue cleaning at my place. I know cleaning can make you look 'ugly', but the type of weather we have right now has magical powers, and will give you the feeling you're living at a spa resort. I'll even give you a masage and facial. Do we have a deal?

Beccasmom, if you can afford it, I would go to Cosco and see if they're still selling those new banquet tables they came out with last year. They're hight adjustable. By now I have 3 of them. One is at it's highest setting, which is very nice on your back when you have some serious cutting to do. Another one is at a lower setting, so I sew at the far right side of it and can have my iron station to the left of me. (The third one became my next 'stash' hiding place)

ME, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Maybe you could sew a nose bib?

Grammie, I really feel for your sis that she didn't get to go home today. Reasons for blood transfusions are often due to the blood loss during surgery. Another thought on why it is especially common after hip replacements (only a thought, I'm no expert) could have to do because they're messing with a part of your body where a lot of our blood cells are made? If memmory serves me well a big portion of our red blood cells are created in the bone marrow of our tights and hips? I am prolly WAY off here and might've had too much sun today.

Going to fix dinner, but great news - MY CAR IS OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY.
It took us over an hour to pushing, rocking and 2 neighbors, but it is finally on the street. Now if I could only find my set of keys.

Hi all! I'm so excited to be back on...cause its friday and I didn't stay late at school! And...there was a pep rally and I ditched it! oh yea! Shhh...don't tell my principal. Oh wait, he wasn't there either! I don't think I missed much (I had an IEP to finish up) except for the toilet paper toss and the eggs. Did I mention I teach at a really hard school?

But now I can sew! I've had to wait all week to finish my turkeys! And have a glass of wine! Whew!
