Prague Patchwork sent by Inka

Post by calicopuzzle » Wed Jan 28, 2009 5:41 am

Some of you have inquired about "Inka". May I suggest when you want to see someone's work you are not familiar with on this forum, that you click on "Quilt Photos", then look for the search button on the top of the page to the right--right under the words. "Quilt Photos". Click again, then on "topic" put in the quilter's name that you want to get familiar with...up will come the postings of their quilting photos....that is why, I, Calicopuzzle, always put "Inka's" name in the "topic" space. I post her pictures for her as a favor for a friend in another country. :)

Here is a picture that she sent me from a Prague quiltshow...we as friends are now exchanging ideas as to how these beautiful blocks are made....I just sent for a book on the subject, so maybe it won't be long and you will see what she has worked out in her "spare" time. :)
Yes, her work is presice and beautiful.

Neither of these are made by Inka...but it won't be long and I am sure she will be sharing something lovely like this in a pillow cover.

WOW!!!! Those are so pretty. I kept looking at it and I know how I would do it. Why not 3 diff sizes of hexagons with two folded triangles stitched into the seamlines between the 2 larger ones. Then fold them back and either stitch around them or just tack into place for a more 3-D effect. Just my imagination at work here but I try to do things the easy way. LOL

Thanks for sharing with us Inka and Calicopuzzle. Some thought provoking pics for us to admire and get inspired to try our own. I would love to see what Inka comes up with on this. Inka, you are so talented. And thanks Calico for sharing her work with us. You are indeed an angel. God bless you both.

Generally, the technique is called "Serendipity" - googling for this name you will come across numerous samples depending mainly on the fabrics used - and the courage to chop the pieces into further smaller and smaller triangles - this is what I fancy the technique is all about ...
Calico, thank you again for being such a thoughtful person!
I would like to extend your information inviting the ladies to Prague - anyone possibly travelling to Europe in April.

Great pattern! Kind of reminds me of the Stack N Whack style...wonder if a similar technique was used?

I have done a stack and whack and it looks similar as far as cutting the fussy-ness of the fabric patterns....but this is much more intricate with each block...seeming to be cut up into more and more triangular sections.....when my book comes on these Serindipity quilts, I will share. Beautiful though aren't they!
