Finished the formal for DD and she looked great as she escorted the flag in. I am off to my quilt studio and to play for about 45 minutes then off to the spegetti dinner at the local parish, fundraiser for sixth grade science camp. Then back here to be with all of you and to play some more. Happy stitching!! Debi

How is everybody tonight?? I see lots of you are still cold. I had my door open today and got some fresh air in here..... This is really the only time of the year that we are able to have the doors and windows open because it get way to hot in the summer.

momof6quilts, Congrats on the new iron. I was looking into one of the Rowenta's and decided against one because of the reviews. Most everybody that bought them had issues with spitting water & leaking, so if you have problems like this just take it back. Some even sent them back to the mfg and had worse problems when they were returned.

I just found this site & wanted to share. The BOM quilt is pretty if anyone is interested.

Home from work, waiting for DH and the girls to come home...

We had some excitement yesterday, we found a skull on our property! Judging by the teeth, it's probably a deer. Looks a bit scorched in places, so I am wondering if it died in the fires in 2007. It was in pieces, scattered over about a square yard, buried slightly in the topsoil. Pretty much stripped of any, uh, edible stuff and quite dry.

By the time we got it home, the braincase, though empty, was starting to reek. I called a local taxidermist...he had NO information on cleaning animal skulls (HUH?). A quick trip to the internet got me the info I needed. The bones are soaking in Oxyclean and water in a bucket on the back porch. When I have time next week I'll buy some peroxide and soak it in that for a bit. According to the instructions I found, that should remove any remaining soft tissue. Then it can dry in the sun and coated with a clear enamel to protect it from chipping. VERY cool! It can go on display with the snake skin DH found last summer, and the telephone pole glass insulator knobs we have found.

I know, not quilting related, but I think it's neat, and the girls were thrilled!

Oh Lori, just saw your post! Isn't El one of the most gracious and charming people you have ever met? She has a real way with the public, just makes you feel comfortable from the first.

She is one of my heroes, she works hard, is honest, and is not the least bit snobbish. It has been a real blessing to me to be able to meet her.

we had a blast!! So fun to meet new friends, join friends I have known only for a year..and hang out with a friend of over 15 years......and having lunch with El was amazing.

I had a tote I had made with me to give as a gift and El picked it up and said "wow you made this!" oh I was so honored.

CoyoteQuilts Thank You for sharing that site. I have put it over in my favorites. That BOM is very nice!! Love it! It owuld be great to double it for a larger size. Thanks again.

Lori, how exciting to have had lunch with El!!!! Who all had that pleasure? El is just a doll in my opinion. So down to earth and so friendly and pleasant. I have her up on a high pedestal but she acts like the rest of us. IMHO she deserves a Halo & Angel wings.

Grammiequilts your DH taking the time and effort to work on Ricky's derby car and it winning may have been the most generous thing that little boy had ever had done for him. That was so sweet of your DH.

Got my QIAD BOM Pattern today also. After seeing Alinas beautiful pic, I am sure excited about this!

CaroleJ that is neat about the skull. Have you guys got a set moving time frame set yet? I know you will be so happy out there! Hope yall are taking pics along the way with all of the preperations.

Hugs
