Re: It's Thursday, January 15th
Good Morning at Everyone,
The cold is east of us, so today should be in the 30's. I need to finishing printing photos on the calendar pages. Laundry is ready to attack in the closet, so will be working on that. Want to get the Yo YO flowers on a lap quilt, too. And, have to get myself in the mind set to help DD1 move tomorrow.
Brenda - the programmable thermostats work very well. We have one on our hot water heat system. One thing we learned was not to set it too low, because then it takes all day to get back up to speed.
Vicky - I visited the quilt guild last night and a lady showed how to make bags using old blue jeans. You actually get two bags out of 1 pair of jeans. They were really cute. She used an old web belt, or luggage strap, for the handle and left the bucket or strap hook on as part of the decoration.
Happy Stitching,
Lyn

It is a "warm" 18* here in the Texas Panhandle! I had some things to do and I didn't think it was that cold so I only wore a zippered sweatshirt, boy did I hurry! I'm off today so I have been getting my Secret Valentine ready to mail, hope she likes it. I have some work to do in the sewing room so off I go.
Stay safe and warm.
Debbie

WOW You ladies are frozen!!!! We have a heavy fog here but it is supposed to get up to 43. Look at it this way, it is too cold to do anything but sew.....
Nothing exciting going here today. My cat is making me nuts. Her food is on the daybed in my sewing room so the dogs can't get to it. I spread a beach towel under the food so it doesn't mess up the spread. The dingy cat has started covering uo her food with the towel then she comes after me like she has no food. Last night she laid on the top of my chair and batted at my head to get me to go check her food. Good Grief
Stay warm Ladies

ouch to all of the high heating bills. My daughter said her bill in her apt in Boston was 400 last month and the apt was empty for 10 days. they switched to a level pay plan so that should help them. as a southern Calif girl she didn't realize how expesive it is to heat up an apt. We have a programmable thermostat and have for years. I love it! We have it programmed to shut off at 10:45 pm and turn back on at 5:15am M-F it goes back off at 7:45am and on at 4pm my animals find a warm place to curl up during the day if it is cold. Boy it works great!
I have a few extra minutes today because the 1st graders are all at an assembly about launching rockets. they will then build rockets as a class and launch them with an astronaut from NASA (each grade level will be doing that) so I have a break
and today is Munchies...once a month the parents do a lunch for the teachers...each grade level of parents tries to outdo each other so it is always wonderful. they set the lunch up by 10:45
send prayers for my little student today she is going in for another series of tests to determine the type and stage of her cancer.

This is what a Shakespeare in the Park looks like. I can't copy & paste it right. LOL Sorry. It is a beautiful quilt. The pattern is in the book called "The Creative Pattern Book" by Judy Martin.
It is cold here today as well but not near as cold as some of you are having to endure! the sun is shining brightly so that helps. I do love that sunshine. It was so odd early this morning, the sun was trying to come out & we had light snow falling. Then it just quit. poof! We do need some moisture really bad. I feel so badly for the farmers and those with orchards!!!
Got to go. We are going to go run to another Rig to take some paperwork or something. You folks stay warm and have a great afternoon!
Hugs

Re: It's Thursday, January 15th
Greetings from bitter cold, SW. Pa...They are saying we will be having almost record breaking temps, coldest in 2 years...Of course the sun is shinning, but it's only in the teens...We take care of 3 feral cats and they are sure staying close to home. My DH is constantly looking out, making sure they have something to eat and also, keeps heating their Snuggle Safe, to keep their "cat house" warm....
HOW MANY MONTHS TILL SPRING??????
I was scheduled in the Meals on Wheels office this morning and then went to the doctor for my 3 month check up....He was so happy, BP is finally at a decent range and today, even had a normal heart beat....In all this cold weather, would you believe, all our volunteers came to deliver meals...We did have some of our people call and cancel because they were worried about the deliverers...To be in the midst of all these people really makes a person feel good....
Not much happening here today...I'm headed for my sewing room. I need to get some projects done before I go away.....
Enjoy the rest of the day, everyone.....
Stay warm and safe!

Takin' a break from quilting the "Fishin' Sams" quilt. About half done..it's really kinda cute. She'll love it no matter what..she's that kind of person!
Still have to cut my candy fabrics for the candy/cookie swap..but that means finding a home for the pile of scraps on my cutting table...yuk...
The sun was shining for awhile...looks alot warmer than it is! DH came in for his "break"--that's NAP, for those who don't know! He's done for the day in the workshop and is letting the fire go out.
That Shakespeare in the Park quilt is awesome! Looks hard...

Well, I didn't get to Shakespeare yet but the girls got three bags done. And get this I only had to walk away once! I'm getting better about keeping my mouth shut and letting the cards fall where they may. Learning in my old age.
