Re: ROUND #3 for the PILLOWCASES PROJECT- WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!
This one's for you, Audrey: WE MATCHED YOUR 68 PILLOWCASES!!!!! On Saturday morning several friends and I got together for a Pillowcase Sew-In and we made exactly 68 pillowcases! The ironic part about all this is that I did NOT even recall the number of pillowcases Audrey had made till I came to post just now! Amazing how everything works for the good of the cause!
We are getting closer to that 300 mark! When I decided to shoot for that goal, I thought I was being a bit lofty selecting 300 pillowcases as my goal. But- by golly- I think we are going to make it!
Sounds like several more pillowcases are on their way to my home...so each day we are getting closer to 300!
Last week, this week, and next week my second graders are collecting items to be tucked inside 'Care Packages' for our local service men and women. Each week is a different theme. Week 1 we collected 'office' supply items (pens, pencils, stationery, cards, notebooks, pencil sharpeners, etc). This week we are collecting hygiene items (deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, foot powder, baby wipes, soap, etc). The last week we will be collecting food items. My students and their families are really doing a wonderful job supporting our area service men and women! I already have one large box filled from just the first week's items!
My most sincere thanks goes out to all who are helping with this project. It's a terrific way for us to show our support to those who sacrifice so much. Hugs-Marcia

GrandamTaz, I like the way you think. I am good for a few more.
Marcia, I am adding a few more to my 16. That's all I am going to say. I can't compete with Audreys "Queen" title-but I am going for the "Princess" one. LOL. Sandy, off to sew.

Oh my....I like the way you gals are thinking!!! I bet we can hit the 350 mark! (I've made 20-25 pillowcases on my own that I haven't included in the total yet....you know: kinda like an ACE up my sleeve!!!!!) And then with all the other pillowcases that still have yet to arrive- I THINK WE CAN...I THINK WE CAN....I THINK WE CAN!!!!
I truly have quite the "Royal Court" of pillowcase makers! Of course, Audrey is the "Pillowcase Queen"; but I definitely have a LOT of "Pillowcase Princesses"! *grin*
With trumpets blaring, I bow down to my royal court and express my humble appreciation!
Hugs to all who have pitched in and helped out with this project~Marcia

Hear ye, Hear ye....I wish to announce the arrival of MORE pillowcases!!!
Sandy (kho)- You came through again! Your 22 pillowcases are just what the doctor ordered for our recovering soldiers! The deer print is awesome...just like you were in the woods with them! The horses running in the water is a majestic print! The floral fabrics are quite cheerful. The pink and blue log cabin print is a comforting look- just like being snuggled under a log cabin quilt! And of course, the patriotic fabric is always touching. You are such a giving person, Sandy. You not only gave once to this cause...but TWICE! You are a gem!
GrandmaTaz-WooHoo! Your donation of 30 pillowcases is impressive! You and your quilting buddies donated quite a variety of pillowcases! The tan print with the patriotic scenes throughout USA history-including the raising of the flag at 9/11- is an impressive fabric. It will certainly touch the soldiers' hearts. The nature prints (portraying different wildlife scenes) are going to be a welcome sight to the patients that love the outdoors. (I loved the combination of the paw-printed cuff with the awesome wolf-printed pillowcase body!) The 'Peanuts' characters fabric will definitely bring a smile to their faces! The hummingbird fabric is absolutely charming! You had a delightful mix of patriotic fabrics that blended so well together. I bet everyone had fun sewing up these pillowcases because there was such a wide variety of fabric!
Thank you for your generous donation, Grandma Taz! Please tell your quilting friends I said "THANKS"!
WOW! My house runneth over with pillowcases! You ought to see our downstairs bedroom! It's is overflowing with pillowcases! Good thing my daughter is married and no longer needs her old bedroom!!!! LOL Just wish all of you could see these awesome pillowcases! So many different fabrics. (It's kinda like visiting a 'mini-quilt shop" when you take in all the different fabrics used to make the pillowcases!)
Again- thanks to all who have helped out with this project! You are a kind and generous group of quilters! A ton of hugs~Marcia
