Sarah - I am told you just sew the 1/4 seam like you did and when you wash it, your get the fraying. I have never done it but am going to try also.

That is a nice block
I'd like to see it after it is washed. If the two inner fabrics are supposed to fray, that would be really pretty.

I have never done this technique but it looks good to me. I understand that you get the fraying after you wash it but how do you quilt these usually? Golly you would get double the excitement after washing, it seems. I would love to see one after it has been washed.

I have never done one of these, but I'd think you could either follow the curves of the petal edge OR just stitch a circle, depending on the look you want.

The disadvantage of doing the circle is that, over time, your wavy petal edges will sort of disappear because of fraying.

Just mulling.

Added later (brain is busy today!): Sarah, you could stitch these with invisible thread if the crooked-ies bother you. It's VERY forgiving of those little jogs; I use the Sulky brand on top, and a neutral colored thread in the bobbin. Loosen the top thread tension and do some practice runs. I was always sort of afraid of invisible thread until I tried it, now I use it pretty routinely and I love it!
